Great Cameras and App but System Could be Improved

The cameras are easily mounted, the app is great, the system setup is very easy, the video surveillance is clear and great quality, but unless you hard wire the cameras you cannot set up activity zones. If the camera is in an area with a lot of activity, the camera will record often and drain your battery extremely quickly. Our battery was at 1% in a week so we will be hard wiring it and setting limits on the activity zones. Our second camera is in an area of less activity with the same full camera view and was still at 94% after the first week.

The cameras are pretty decent. They can be hardwired or wireless, but it's important to note that you are NOT able to setup zones for the cameras (stop it from recording every car that drives by the street) if you are using them with their batteries. In order to setup zones you have to hardwire the cameras to a power source. So buy extra batteries, because trust me you'll be blowing through batteries like crazy. The videos are nice and clear, it just frustrating that Arlo doesn't mention the limitations with zones if you are running on batteries.

I purchased this product about one month ago to watch the kid's playing outside the house. The product was easy to setup and the video has been working good. I have two issues the product. There is about a 20 sec delay between when the motion is detected and the picture shows up on my pad. Also, I can not get the microphone/speaker to work. I can't hear anything inside on my pad or outside on the camera.

This is a great security system for the price. Clear 1080P video and pics, easily accessible by phone, night vision, expandable storage, indoor outdoor use, and two way audio. Extra cameras are a bit pricey though. Geo fencing is an awesome feature.

Pros: High quality video and good audio. Easy setup and install No wires!!!!! Lots of add on’s available. Cons: Expensive Without add on solar panels (which I purchased also) you have to take the camera down every so often to charge.

These cameras have been on my radar for a long time. When BESTBUY put them on sale - I grabbed a 4 camera setup. The definition that the cameras dis-lay is beyond amazing. The setup was beyond easy and the online results amazing.

My car was broken into 2 weeks before Christmas. What a terrible feeling of violation. After weeks of research, I picked the Arlo camera system. The HD quality video is awesome. They were super easy to install. All of our cameras are outside, so I did have to buy additional mounts. The magnetic mounts are easy to pull the camera off of and we did not want to give thieves an easy way to steal more things. I ended up purchasing 2 additional batteries and the battery charger that charges 2 batteries at a time. It was tedious to bring the camera into the house and have to re-position it after the batteries were charged. By having the spare batteries, I can remove the low battery and replace it with a fresh battery without having to take the camera down.

The security camera system is good for low traffic areas. We have had to charge the one in our garage, living/kitchen, and back door about once a week. The one on the side of the house we haven’t had to charge yet and we’ve had the system for almost 2 months. The video quality is not crisp clear unless you have them hardwired instead of using WiFi. Has about a 5-10 second lag. Installation/setup was simple. Works with Alexa so that’s always great! Overall the system is good.

Purchased the 6 camera system. Easy to set up. Video quality is very good. Only draw back is motion sensor does not pick up end of backyard (but yard is deep so that’s OK) Batteries last about 3 months on cameras that get the most use.

This camera is perfect. We did not want to install an expensive camera setup and wires around the house. I works as expected. Wish that the battery lasted longer (about 5 weeks), but will get the solar adapter soon, and that should help.

It's been a month since I've had these cameras. Easy to set up and works consistently so far. Battery life is good so far. Images are clear. The sensor can be adjusted to record certain types motion, examples are people or automobiles. I've had cats walk by a few times and it recorded the motion. I recorded bees and other flying insects. Easy to adjust sensor in the Arlo app, you just have to play with the settings. I have the Canary as well as Swann cameras. The Arlo cameras are more user friendly. I had the Canary cameras go offline for a few days, but customer support rectified the situation. I added the Arlo camera system just in case the others go offline. I purchased these on sale (~$650) and it was a good deal.

This is perfect for anyone who wants surveillance without the monthly subscription and complicated electrical wiring installation. The Arlo system connects to my personal WiFi allowing me to view the recordings through the Arlo app. It only records if it senses anything and you can adjust the sensitivity settings as well. The picture quality of the recordings are acceptable and you can even zoom in. What’s also great is that it can be used indoors and outdoors. I have 2 cameras and I want to buy more. Highly recommend!

Very Well Thought Out Camera System

Not intending to buy, I went nosing around the Ring systems at my local Best Buy because of their compelling TV commercial. I live in the country and feel vulnerable due to our remote, quiet, accessible location, so I've been interested in enhancing our home security system with cameras for some time, and felt that that "smart" video systems have matured to the point of finally being practical and reliable for home use. The Best Buy salesman did great job of enlightening me on the different systems they offer, and made me aware of the ineffective and inflexible camera-in-the-doorbell situation with some systems. Better to have a full-featured "smart" door bell with good audio that is associated with a separate camera which can be optimally positioned, and not looking straight out at cars going by on the street - Made perfect sense to me. Because of the sale price, and the fact that I had $25 in Best Buy rewards burning a hole in my pocket I went home with the 2-camera Pro 2 system (I wanted the 1080P HD). NOTE: Keep a constant eye on what you buy from Best Buy on their website, because the same system was reduced in price TWICE in the next couple of weeks, and Best Buy honored the price both times with the appropriate refund! Once home and upon reading through the quick set-up guide, I thought - Could it be this easy?, and after a couple of days of putting it off, I found out to my relief and joy that....IT IS! One lesson learned was the mounts that I purchased for the cameras, all of which were mounted outdoors (Front door, back door and driveway - Yes, I bought a third camera shortly after I installed the first two - They went on sale too). Instead of buying the metal Arlo camera mounts at $20 each, I decided to go for the third-party (Wasserstein) mounts for $11/pair. You definitely get what you pay for! Cheap, lightweight plastic construction, and the fact that once you angle the camera in the mount, there is no way to tighten the mount once it's aimed, so you have to make sure that you have the camera positioned, aimed and tightened in the mount, and THEN drill the holes for mounting the mount, which is a bit difficult to do up on a ladder with only two hands. Also, if you ever want to access the power port on the camera (For charging the battery or AC power the camera), the tightening wheel on the mount blocks the port - You have to take the camera off the mount!. Wonderful set-up features available from my smart phone made camera configuring and sensitivity tuning very easy. Great analytics, object discrimination and masking features make the alert functions very useful. My non-techno wife found the system very simple to load on her phone and use, and even uses the system much more than I do. We discovered many non-security functions that we find extremely helpful and valuable to us - Such as the delivery guy with an important package at the door when my wife is all the way back in her home office, the neighbor's dog doing his thing in our yard while we're in bed, guests arriving in the driveway while we're getting ready for company, etc., etc. Night illumination is adequate at short distances, which is the field of view that we have tuned for the best resolution, face identification and elimination of unwanted transient background motion that we're not interested in seeing or recording. The one-week free cloud recording deal that comes with the system is nice, but with the "free month" plus $99/year Smart subscription which adds features and recording duration that I wanted, I went for the upgraded system support. CAUTION: If signing up for this you should just do the free month first and THEN pay for the full year if you want it when that expires, otherwise you'll get caught-up in Arlo's confusing check-out system, which apparently cannot be resolved if you make the mistake of going for the $99 deal up front like I did! Plus then you'll have the excruciating experience of trying to access their extremely confusing, misleading and worthless (obviously overseas based call-center) "support" line! That one experience gave me a good belly-full of their worthless support people (with very poor English!), and I'm glad the system set-up is extremely easy, intuitive and doesn't require their help. One other helpful item of note - I went online and downloaded the full user manual, which is very clear, concise, thorough and extremely helpful to get the most out of the Arlo Pro 2 system and all its features and functions. It's not a bad translation from Chinese like most manuals! So far after a bit over a month we love this system and will continue to tune and work with it as we live with it, and the season and sun position progress. One final note - make sure your Wi-Fi is strong and up to date to minimize latency for the video streaming "push" and recording. The cameras communicate with the base through it's own comms, but some minor conflicts and glitches with your wi-fi may occur. Great system! Highly recommended!!!

The Arlo Pro 2 (and Pro) are easy to set up. You connect the hub to a wired LAN. Then sync each camera to the hub. Because of the hub, the distance of the camera from the LAN is much further than WiFi would go. The Arlo App permits only 5 cameras to be viewed. So if you have a few at your business, and some at home, it is limited to a 5-camera view. Arlo notes that you can upgrade your service to see more, but the website is highly ambiguous about what is needed. The website is primarily to sell, not to support. I purchased the Pro 2 after working with some Pros at a business location. I like the Pro 2's better, but, of course, they are more costly. I would buy them again. BTW, Best Buy had the best price, and truly great service.

I got a good price during Black Friday deals. Easy to install. No wires for any camera connectivity. Video quality and clearness is excellent. The only thing I am less than happy about is the battery life for the cameras. It is advertised for 6 month battery life. Now, I know the battery life will depend on how often it activates ( motion ) and how long it then records, but it looks like I may get 2-3 months on a battery charge versus the 6 months. Still not bad though.

I've had my Arlo system for about 6 months. It was very easy to set up, since the cameras run on battery. The batteries last longer than I expected before needing a charge. One camera that faces my driveway is activated by motion quite frequently due to the traffic on my street. I'd say I replace the battery in that one about every 2-3 weeks. The batteries last longer in warmer weather. It is too bad that the base station can only connect to the Internet via ethernet cable. Surprised it does not connect over WiFi. I had to buy a WiFi extender with ethernet output, as the base station has a range of about 50-75 feet, and I needed to get it closer to my garage where I wanted one of the cameras. While most things of this system work as desired, I did have a few issues. The first I noticed would occur after a firmware update: some of the cameras wouldn't work after the update and would need to be reset manually. This would do me no good if I am away from the house and this issue occurs. Secondly, the Geofencing option in the phone app seldom works. I wish there was a better option to automatically arm/disarm the system, maybe have compatibility with IFTTT or Tasker to arm the system when my phone disconnects from WiFi. In summary, it's a good system for the price and easy to install. I recommend purchasing the optional battery charger that can charge 2 batteries at once.
