I use this for outdoors and was so impressed by the Arlo 2 two camera security system I bought a third camera for another side of my house. It easily integrated with my base and I now have 3 amazing outdoor cameras.

This is the third purchase of Arlo cameras. Several security companies use these as their camera product offering due to ease of use, great battery life and incredible video clarity. Excellent product all the way around.

The ARLO Pro 2 is a great home security system. If you do not have power outlets all of the locations you would like a camera then this is the only way to go. Picture is crystal clear, setup easy, and the app on your phone is very user friendly.

I am pleased with this camera system so far. I did not want the hassle of a paying for an install of a wired system and I did not want to try to wire one myself. This system appealed to me for this reason. I was comfortable with motion activated recording only and this stores in the could for free for a duration. I have one camera set up at my door (I do not have a video doorbell), one pointed at my driveway, one just at the entry point inside my home and one in my backyard pool area. Battery life is ROUGH. The driveway and entry point cameras do not last long at all because of the activity. I am usually having to change them every two weeks. The others will last a month up to this point. I purchased one solar panel for the backyard due to summer time increased activity and the driveway I am going to drill into the house and run power to an outlet in the garage. I do not have a good solution for the door camera--a solar panel will just be took big and an eye sore. Running power will be difficult and probably not a DIY job because of the location but I am going to try a few different places to position the camera. Bottom line--if you have a high activity area--you will want these wired so you do not have to constantly swap batteries. I will update the review at a later time once I have made some improvements.

Video quality is very good. Had false readings that trip the camera sensor when sun moved to back of house where the camera was set. Had some issues when the wind would blow bushes or tree limbs. Might be able to fix this with the sensitivity settings. Would only pic up movement 25 feet away. Wish it would be a bit farther. Would pick up cars going down the street that were a lot farther than 25 feet and had to adjust camera view. I suppose it picks up larger items at father distances.

This is great camera system. The video quality and audio are great. The playback on the website and app are great. The only drawback is having to charge the batteries about every couple of months.

I bought these because I figured it would give me piece of mind about the house while I am not home. At first, I thought they were great, since I had an extra set of eyes on the house. Then it got annoying because of constant notifications that ended up being cars driving by, birds, cats, a breeze moving leaves, raccoons, etc. It won’t do me any good if notifications are off so they don’t sound all the time...guess what - sometimes I check it, sometimes I don’t - like the little boy that cried wolf, it gets ignored a lot because of all of the stupid crap that gets caught on camera. Being in a quiet neighborhood, the only good thing is that I can see when packages are being delivered and when the mailman was at my house. Lately I’ve been paying closer attention since I’m home all day and have found that the lag is a little too long and the cameras are not being triggered by all movement. For example, my FedEx driver magically appeared halfway up my driveway... the camera didn’t get triggered when he pulled his truck in front of my driveway and got out of the truck, but after he walked about 3 feet onto my driveway! I’m thinking about getting rid of these and getting the new Ring system instead.

I picked this up at the December door buster. Researched other options, read through the negative comments and talked to neighbors who had it. Meanwhile 3 packages were taken off our porch. Have since installed it and have to say I’m really happy. I am purchasing the cables to secure the camera from easy theft. As far as battery life goes, my low traffic areas are running great with a high percentage of life left. Higher traffic areas are burning faster. I still need to fine tune the video sensitivity which should help prolong the battery life in the front of the house. I expect to have to recharge the front batteries once every 3 weeks without tuning. Hoping to make it 6 weeks after tuning. The side yard batteries should last the advertised 4-6 months based on my early experience.

Overall this system was very simple and easy to install and setup. I'd like the performance and responsiveness of the app to be a bit faster, but I have an older phone, so that could be my issue. The speak to person on camera function was not the easiest to figure out - its a simple setting - better directions on that would have been helpful. The volume of the speaker on the camera could be better too. Very hard to hear someone speaking to you from the camera.

This is a great camera. The lightning is very good at night when you have complete darkness. There is a second delay in sending you a text but overall it’s not bad. The picture is very clear in the day time. I have even had a bird fly by and I received a message so it is very good at detecting anything the comes within the area. I would recommend this camera to anyone. I would also buy this brand of security cameras again as I have received very good results from this camera.

The Arlo line of security cameras offers a system that can easily be placed virtually anywhere (indoors or outdoors) granted you are able to afford the relatively high cost to other systems. Setup is quick: plug in the AC adapter and ethernet to the base, download the mobile app, and sync the cameras. Cameras are positioned by snapping them onto a magnetic base. The wireless connectivity are great for repositioning if needed. The Arlo pro 2 model I purchased gives a 1080p resolution compared to 720p with the original pro models. Up to 5 cameras can be used simultaneously without a subscription and it's compatibility Arlo's older cameras models/ other products (e.g. spotlight) even when purchased at a later date. When it comes to viewing captured videos, Arlo gives you the option to use the mobile app or signing on via their website. I opted for the mobile app as it notifies you if something was picked up by the camera and you can use the two-way audio. What's nice is Arlo stores its videos in the cloud for 7 days in case you forget to download it right away. Using motion detection, there's a slight delay and sometimes the video captures footage after it already started; there's a continuous streaming option but requires a subscription service and being constantly plugged in. It's probably best to make sure you have a solid internet service for the best experience. A 100 mbps down/ 10 up connection works fine for me but still gives a 1-2 second lag when viewing the live stream. My mother in law has a 5 mbps down/ 1 up service and the cameras are barely usable. Connection by Arlo rarely goes down but is really frustrating when it does; I docked half a star for this. Cost was probably the biggest con to Arlo's camera system; it's easily 2-3 times a hard wired system but you forego all the benefits mentioned above. I docked it another half star for this reason. It's definitely sweeter if you can get this system during a sale!

Have only had up for about a week but what I've noticed, video is good, easy to set up, easy to move cameras wherever I want. Needs improving drastically 1 to 2 second delay of recording when motion sensor activated. The alert that is sent to the phone has about a 10 minute delay on it. That is unacceptable for a security system, I am going to monitor for another week to see if I am going to keep it.

The reason that I got this camera set is because it is completely wireless. It is extremely easy to set up. Everything came charged already and set up took maybe 15 minutes max. The battery life in the most a busy area of my house lasted about one month. Other locations are still going strong with about 50% left. I’ve had this for about 1 1/2 months now. The connection lags a little bit but I guess that’s what you get for using wireless. I can’t wait until they improve the technology.
