    Frequently offline. Missing activities.

When they work, they get small snippets of activities. They miss entire days of activities without triggering. I had to switch to continuous video recording at a much higher price to not miss activities. CVR only works if the camera is on the wired charger and the hub is online even though I have a 256 gig chip in the hub. The hub has difficulty maintaining internet connection taking it offline frequently each day. Internet is fine or I would not be able to work from home. If I had it to do over, I would get a local storage system where internet is not required to record even locally. Articles say it can record to the hub when the internet is down. But, that is a lie. Summary, the hub spends 20% of the time offline and so is the system. Misses entire day of activities. Great quality images when it is online or capturing images.

I have the arlo pro 2 and they work very well. I wanted to upgrade and purchased these. I love them. I like the fact that I can charge them without taking them down or changing the batteries. I purchased the cable to to charge them which attaches to the camera via magnet. I used to have to take the pro 2 down to charge them. Way easier now. Quality it great. Love the spotlight, which is motion activated and is really bright and great for getting those nightime alerts.

Bought on sale, at sale price matches the product. The cameras are good, and have more functions than I expected. The app/software isn't as intuitive as I'd like. I miss products having instruction manuals that would cover 90% of the issues. I'm sure if I go to their website, I can figure out the minor issues I'm trying to figure out. Like figuring out the difference between home/away. How I do know if my cameras are identified as internal/external. But the video quality is good, easy to replace batteries, and wasn't expecting lights or sirens on the cameras.

    Rechargeable batteries are a plus

As per usual these days, there was minimal instructions but I eventually figured out how the cameras operate. The sale price was the main reason for the purchase. I really dislike the fact that you have to purchase the rights, another words subscribe, to see your security footage after the "free" introductory preview. I have the old system which I did not have to have a subscription, but the $20.00 battery purchase every 2 to 3 months became cost prohibitive. And rechargeable batteries of this size are a joke in that their 1/2 life is about a year and the charging unit melted.

Live Feed Delay, Poor Battery Life, Cheap Material

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have not owned cameras from other companies, so I don't know how this product compares to the competition. For the following reasons, I think the Pro 4 is a poor value: 1. Significant time delay in live feed and mobile app notifications: I bought these cameras because I've had packages stolen from my front door. I've had a couple instances of trespassing that my side camera has caught, but both times I wasn't able to catch the person because there was a 15-20 second delay on the mobile app feed. The camera is within 10 feet of my modem and router, so I am pretty sure this problem is due to outdated wireless technology in the transmitter. 2. Motion detection problems: The camera in the front of my house goes dead within 2 days because it mistakenly detects motion. I have the motion activity detection area set to a minimal space in front of my door, but if a car goes by or a light flickers anywhere in the field of vision, the camera will send a motion alert. I tried reducing motion detection sensitivity in the app, but it did not help. 3. Battery life: If you read through the reviews for this camera at any retailer, you will see the battery life is a universal issue. My cameras go dead as soon as 2 days, and in my experience last at maximum 2 weeks with little to no motion detection. Because of this, the cameras are essentially useless when used as wireless devices. 4. Poor quality plastics I have to regularly dismount and recharge my cameras because the battery life is so short. When I took one down off of its mount, I accidentally dropped it and the camera popped out from its white plastic housing. The inner camera plastic cracked so severely that the camera will no longer snap into place (see photos). I don't recommend purchasing this camera system. I made the mistake of buying several of them at once, and I regret not returning them as soon as I started having issues.

This was a good deal for 3 cameras, it was my first purchase off surveillance cameras. Only thing I don't like is having to change the battery but I like that it's not wired so i guess you can't have it both ways unless you have solar charger. App and video is very good, I speak to my pets through the mic feature and they hear me clearly. The light feature is also great, turns on when senses movement or on demand via app. You can make changes to your settings to meet your specific needs.

These cameras have been great. Nice image quality, picks up motion as expected. The recognition of animals, cars, people is almost there and works most of the time. Could use more options around what to do when any of the above is recognized.

Nice cameras, work well. There was an initial problem with one of the cameras connecting to WiFi but then going offline. It was reported by n numerous customers in the Arlo Support Portal. Arlo support was on it and resolved the issue in less than 24 hours. Cameras have operated flawless since then. Only wish that the speaker for transmitting audio was a little bit better. Great picture and night vision works well.

Night time wonder. It lights up on sensing object at night or on low light man, that’s an awesome feature and mind blowing sharpness with hi-def picture quality resolution -looks better than your naked eye vision (I said naked eye vision, not the other naked…lol). l Love it…… PERIOD.

You get good quality for the price. These are easy to set up and use. Will be buying more. You do get clear recording. The only thing i did not like to much is that one of the solar panel does not want to charge well. That why i purchased as well with the cameras she i dont have totake them off to charge them. Other then that they work good so far. Its been about a month now.

Battery Use 6 months VS Reality

The system installed easy and the quality of the camera images are great. My frustration is the duration of the battery life. I activate the camera late at night and its dead within a week or two tops. I used these to secure my mobile house/ sprinter and they seem to do the job. I would have gone with a different system if i knew the batteries would not last.

They came as a set of 3. I bought 2 sets. I install them myself. Just download the app, scan the camera by placing it in front of your phone, once it is detected it is ready to be used. Very good images and sound. They record exactly when they detect movement. I had some cameras before that "forgot" to record even in the presence of movement. By the way, very nice looking cameras as well. AI wish they were less expensive so that I could buy another set.

Cameras were simple to install but not easy. Please read ALL instructions before you begin. Be sure to watch the Camera install video a couple of times, make sure you have the tools needed, maybe an 8ft ladder. Save the included tool, keep it in a safe place. If you have to replace the tool is difficult. Using their Bot is almost useless and contacting a member of their staff takes time. Quality of their product is grand, though it be a Chinese product. After install, you will enjoy watching from your camera locations. I wish the response time from camera to viewing was faster..you will need a 2.5 gig internet connection. Paring with their wireless doorbell (Chime2) takes some effort. Again follow the instructions carefully. I would buy this product again.

Although these may be more expensive than other cameras, I've had great experience with Arlo. I wanted to upgrade to these so that I could add the solar option on (my old cameras weren't compatible with the solar panels). These are great - I was able to add solar panels to two of them to use outside so I don't have to keep changing the batteries. These do require a subscription service - my old Arlo cameras didn't require one. I don't mind having that for piece of mind. I can check them when we're not home. I also purchased a new base station because I have a few old cameras I still wanted to use with these. Overall, I really am happy with my purchase.

This item is ok. Just the battery only last about 2 weeks. I had to turn down the sensitivity. It picks up everything. Sometimes the camera goes offline and you have to reset it. I love the idea of closing the camera of when I want.

We’ve had Arlo for a little over a year and I regret purchasing these everyday. Pros: Camera Quality. Cons: Everything else. Alerts come in late, mostly not at all. The app is essentially useless as you can never connect to the cameras and I have a mesh network with full coverage throughout my property. We purchased the base station which is hard wired to the modem and its always disconnecting. These may be effective for interior surveillance, otherwise do not spend your money. We are switching over to Defender camera system, which is power over ethernet and we’ve seen first hand how efficient they are compared to this scam of a camera system. Don’t make my mistake and explore your options before picking up anything Arlo. Especially with their subscription cost.
