||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i didn't realize this until i came back to write a review that most of the reviews are incentivised. so basically they are fake. i would never use this company again. i got the doorbell because i live in nyc and someone has been stealing packages from in front of my apartment door. multiple time the camera just didn't record. 3 of those time happened to be when packages were taken. when complaining to arlo's customer service they offered to give me 30% off next years subscription. oh yes please sign me up. can you image if we had a serious emergency, like a robbery, or a home invasion? we would have no footage but at least i got 30% off. right? so if you value your safety or you just want something you pay for to work, this is not the camera for you.

Doesn’t integrate with existing systems

(SmartHub integration would allow it to connect to HomeKit, in theory.) Basically, Arlo is charging more money for a camera with fewer capabilities. I returned this AVD4001 and fortunately found an AVD1001 on clearance that works with my existing setup.

However, the video doorbell comes with a free trial of Arlo secure, which lasts 30 days. At the end of 30 days, unless you’re going to subscribe for $7.99-$12.99/month, you’re out of luck. The video doorbell stops working or sending you notifications or recording altogether. Then Best Buy will tell you that you cannot return it because it’s past the 14 day return window. Plus, it only has detection for 13 feet, my other Arlo cameras detect motion at 30 feet. So I wouldn’t know if someone delivered a package and left it at the end of my walk with this doorbell. I packaged it up and paid for shipping and Best Buy ended up giving me my money back. Not recommended, it was a big hassle.

Also, after thirty days you need to buy a service plan if you want to enjoy all of the features of the unit. I believe it is just shy of $200. a year.
