Purchased to replace a leased modem. User-friendly, fast set-up, compact size, affordable (especially with price-matching!). Has been perfectly reliable in the 6 weeks it's been running.

I have no complaints about getting this modem. I was easy to hookup and have it activated. It's small so it's easily placed out of the way if you don't want it out on display. Plenty capable to handle the Blast speed from xfinity.

Simple to setup and reliable. Replaced DSL modem with new cable service by replacing modem. Required one restart after cable provider authorization to enable full subscription speed. No issues for over 8 weeks.

I needed to replace an older cable modem and decided on the Motorola SURFboard SB6141, since it's compatible with my current cable provider (Comcast) and their high speed internet access. Setup was easy and it's been running flawlessly.

Reliable replacement for TWC-issued cable modem

I purchased this cable modem as a replacement for the one issued to me by Time Warner Cable, which was about to start charging lease fee for their device.
Prior to that, TWC was charging only for the TV Cable boxes used with the standard/HDTV cable packages.
The device is smaller than the TWC issued cable modem, doen NOT have its own backup- batteries inside(not an issue), is very easy to install and register with TWC and IS on the compatibility list listed on the TWC site.
Another plus is that it is able to support simultaneous streaming of two HD streams, my test was with Amazon Instant video and Netflix, both accessed via Roku devices attached to HDTVs. This test did not disrupt any of the other Internet connections, over WiFi nighthawk router, connected to this cable modem.

Replaced a DOCSIS 2.0 modem - saw an immediate increase in Internet speed. Necessary if you have 20 Mbit service or greater.
Painless setup! Bright blue LEDS can be a bonus or a distraction depending upon your preferences

Now that TWC increased their speeds, you really need to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to maximize your performance. It will pay for itself in less than a year (TWC charges $8/mo for modem rental), so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
When working correctly the LEDs will look like this:
1) white (very pale green)
2) blue
3) blue
4) white (very pale green)
5) red or blue (depends on your router, red for 100mbps, blue for gigabit)
Some people might get worried that lights 1 and 4 are not green, but the blue LED seems to wash them out. BTW, the LEDs are VERY bright, so you probably want to put it behind something.

I bought this to replace the one I was renting from comcast. It's juasr as fast and easy to setup. Although if you need wifi you will have to buy a router to go with it. But having a router and modem separate is a better was to go.

Very easy to setup, had to contact Comcast to have the device added to my account, once that was done it has been working great for more than year with no issues. Very fast and reliable to date.
One non-technical item to note is that the blue lights on modem are very bright so if you are keeping the device in your bedroom, like I do, it can be a bit annoying. However if you are looking for a fast reliable modem that doubles as a nightlight this would be perfect for you.

Got tired of having to pay rental fees from local cable company, so bought this one - so far, so good. More responsive than cable co modem, easy to set up and seem as if it would be future proof for the next few years. one thing, the lights are way too bright and theres no way to dim them.

So easy to set up (you will need to coordinate with your cable company a bit tho). Connection seems more reliable than the overpriced, outdated rental from my cable company. This pays for itself quickly!

I was struggling with my new Comcast cable internet installation using an older modem, eventually gave up and went down to Best Buy and bought this new Motorola SURFboard SB6141. I would have saved myself hours of frustration if I had done this at the beginning.
As soon as it was plugged in, I got Comcast's self-activation screen, and was up and running in minutes. And with this modem, my internet speeds are actually a little faster than I'm paying for! (Paying for 25 mbps, getting 30 mbps. Yay!)
Renting a modem from Comcast at $10/month would cost $600 over five years. Buying this modem will pay for itself in less than a year.
I highly recommend this modem to anyone with cable internet service.

I have always had good luck with Motorola Cable Modems and had been using one of their combination cable modems / wireless routers. I found that I was having issues with my voip phone system because of dropped packets and Jitter. Not sure if it was specific to the unit, but wanted to try using separate components instead. I am so happy that I did as using this Motorola SB6141 in conjunction with a Netgear N900 wireless router with a couple of Netgear gigabit switches has given me the best, most trouble free network that I have ever had. Setup this Modem in less than 15 minutes and haven't had to touch it since... just keeps on running! Very happy with my purchase and the great price.

does a good job unless you are really a power user, into gaming etc. For the average user it is fine. Yes- as others have pointed out, the bright blue lights are a bit annoying but it is not that big of a deal. Set up was a snap.

Your basic cable modem (not router). Already on the "approved models list" of Time Warner Cable so very low risk. Just connected it to the cable, replacing the rented cable modem, called tech support to register the MAC address to TWC and its up and running (seemingly slightly faster than the rented unit) but no problems after a couple of weeks of service. Returned the rented unit and am saving $8/month on cable bill.
Possible downside for some, the LED lights are very bright. so bright that not only the front panel lights up, as designed but light also comes out from the ventilation holes on the sides of the unit. Might be distracting for some TV viewers.
