This is a very popular and highly rated modem, but it completely failed for me. A fundamental flaw is the lack of a physical reset button -- to reset the device, you MUST attach a PC and login to the modem control page. But this option also failed for me. Clicking the "reset to factory defaults" did not produce any discernable result, but looking in the modem log, I could see a "permission denied" entry -- the software reset button failed. This implies a need to login with an "admin" password, but no such option appeared to exist, either. I will be returning this modem (or else, smashing it to pieces, as befits failed technology) to Best Buy. My bottom line: although I had intended to connect to Comcast via self-service option, I was unsuccessful and had to make a service call. Comcast could not make this modem work and left me with a rental unit, which did work. Would a reset to factory defaults have saved the day? Maybe, but it wasn't an option.

I had this modem for almost 2 months and so far its been reliable. This is actually my second modem, the first worked for a day and then just stopped working. Took it back and got the same model and so far I have been happy with it.

Despite Time Warner's horrible roadrunner service, and horrible customer service, I was able to call and get this working. I thought it was defective since Time Warner said there were no network problems, but their obviously were and now everything is working well.

I used to run the leased ones from TWC and always had issues. In two years, I went through at least 5. After the latest died some time ago, I bought this and have not had a single bit of trouble from day one. Should've bought this years ago!

I switched from att uverse to Comcast and didn't want to pay the equipment rental fee. The sales person on the floor was helpful in pointing out which brand and model works. Plugged it in at home and haven't had to restart anything in over a month!
