    first months use seemed to have a number of drops in service (not sure if that was cable provider) (the old disconnect/reconnect) but has given solid service over last 3 months

    This will allow you to get rid of the Comcast leased Modem - down side is you have to call them to Authorize it.

    I bought this to upgrade my aging 2.0 modem. Installation was quick and easy. Just a quick call to Comcast to give them the MAC address for it and I was up and running.

    Comcast is changing their standards to a higher level; sometime in the future (past 01-10-2018) they will require a higher standard of modems.
