Great Modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: Set up was easy. Activated online with Comcast. No tech visit or lengthy phone call. Easy, done. Speeds are fast and steady. The not so good: Apparently the Surfboard and Apple's AirPort Extreme don't play nice together as far as IPv6 is concerned. Lots of research led me to downgrade the firmware on the AirPort Extreme and I signed up for a third party IPv6 host. All is stable now. Another solution that seemed almost unanimous was to get a different modem. Netgear was the most popular option. I opted to keep my Motorola out of trust and satisfaction with the product itself. Another hiccup came a couple weeks ago when the modem stopped responding. A call to Comcast then to arccos/Motorola and many resets later, the modem came back online. Hasn't happened since. Overall, very happy with the modem. A couple of hiccups along the way, but otherwise rock-solid.

Quickly Back Up to Full Speed!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My prior generation of this product "quietly" feel off my cable provider's supported list. My performance suddenly dropped and I had frequent intermittent connection problems. Once I determined the issue, I started comparing supported options with locally available products. Saw this one in stock, ran right out and picked it up. Quicker, easier setup. Even better form factor. And performs as advertised. A great product that got me right back up to full speed on my 100MB connection.

Great Cable Modem Compatible with Comcast/XFinity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a great modem that is compatible with Comcast/Xfinity. This is DOCSIS 3.0 compatible which is the reason I needed to get it since the recent upgrade in service with doubling of speeds. My old Motorola Surfboard Modem was outdated and could not enjoy the faster speeds so I was sent a letter to upgrade my modem. I did a little research and figured that I had good results with my previous Motorola modem so I stayed with the same brand. The set-up was super easy, but did require a computer for initial set up. I had a little trouble getting it working initially since Comcast's servers did not recognize the new modem right away. I ended up having to call Comcast and they were able to re-send the signal to communicate with the modem and it worked. Once I set it up, I tested the speeds and my speeds were indeed double of what I was getting before at no extra cost to me. So far it's worked pretty well although occasionally there seems to be a glitch and my internet slows dramatically. I'm not sure if it's a product of the modem or my wireless router since I reboot both of them at once and usually the problem resolves. Overall I would recommend this product,

Fast, easy to get going . . .
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had an old 2.0 modem that died suddenly . . . ran down to BB and picked one of these up (after checking with my internet provider - make sure the modem you purchase is compatible with your service!) Called and gave my provider the ID numbers before heading home. By the time I got home all I had to do was switch connections and it fired right up. It takes awhile for it to identify the first time (has to do all that internet magic stuff), but once it was up my surf speed nearly doubled! Have had no problems with this modem and are heavy users for video (downloads and streaming) and general surfing.

Excellent modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this in May, and it installed and worked with Time Warner Cable with no issues. In the two months since then, it has worked without any issues. Only using the base 30MB speed, so I cannot attest to this handling higher speeds, but it supports bonding over 8 channels and DOCSIS 3.0 without requiring the price premium of the latest model.s

Good modem, but don't believ the hype
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to replace our leased Comcast modem and read stellar reviews about these surfboard models. Aside from confirming compatibility, many of these reviews claimed the modem tripled their download speeds. (Above even what they say they were paying Comcast for). Maybe that is true for them, however, in my case it's simply not true. While I will say this seems to be a quality modem, is compact, and easy to configure... My speed has not significantly improved or degraded since installing. The one negative I will say, the god awful LEDs on this thing are wayyyy too bright. If you need a nightlight and a modem, this is the one to get!

Best Modem for the Money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tired of paying Comcast $8.00 a month rental fee, slower and slower speeds, calls and chat support always blaming the problem on my end prompted me to look into another option. The SURFboard SB6141 installation was pretty much "plug & play". Connected the cable, power and router (will post another review of the Netgear R7000) called Comcast to activate and was up and running in less than 10 minutes. Couldn't have been easier. The tier we our on with Comcast is 25Mbps. With the Comcast modem/router download and upload speeds were both under 7Mbps. First speed test after installation was 73.89Mbps download and 12.15Mbps upload. The price on the shelf was $99. I had printed out the online price of $91. It rung up at $89. I can't recommend the SURFboard SB6141 enough.

Eliminate Time Warner monthly rental fees
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great cable modem that I highly recommend to anyone in need of such a device. If you are a Time Warner customer and are renting a phone / internet modem, Docsis 2.0 modem or Docsis 2.0 modem / router and are paying for 50 Mbps or faster download speeds you are not receiving the speeds you are paying for. My sister was being charged $8.00 a month to rent the Time Warner phone / internet modem. The modem was connected to a wireless router she had previously purchased. Her Time Warner package was advertised as providing up to 50 Mbps download speeds. The pcpitstop.com web site indicated her wired download speeds were 24 Mbps. Investigation revealed the phone / internet modem was not capable of faster download speeds. I installed this modem, eliminated her $8.00 monthly fee and the wired download speeds immediately increased to 54 Mbps. If the modem you are renting from Time Warner also includes an integrated wireless router this may not be the modem for you. This modem does not provide wireless connections. You either need to purchase a separate wireless router to pair with this modem or an integrated modem / router that combines both devices in one case (Motorola SBG 6580). Although these combo devices save space and reduce costs, some experts in the field do not recommend them as the best option. Whatever option you choose the phone / cable modem supplied by Time Warner will be retained because it is needed for your phone service. Under these circumstances there is no monthly rental fee since Time Warner does not charge a rental fee when this modem is only being used for phone service. In this case you may also need to purchase a coax cable splitter and a couple of Ethernet cables since both the phone modem and your new cable modem need to be connected to the coax cable coming into your house. If you are receiving your wireless connections from a Time Warner rented modem / router you may also be paying a $4.99 monthly fee for wireless connection. Utilizing this modem and a separate router you purchase or purchasing an integrated modem / router can eliminate both the $8.00 modem rental and the $4.99 wireless connection fee from your monthly bill resulting in a savings of approximately $156 a year. Don't forget that once you install the new modem you will need to call Time Warner and provide them with the MAC address of your new device.

Does everything you need.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switched to Cox for internet and needed a Docsis 3.0 modem. I didn't want to pay $9.99 a month to rent one do I bought this and paired it with the Asus dual band wifi router. Everything works flawlessly and I'm getting 60 Mbps consistently. No dropping, easy set up and a small footprint makes this an excellent choice with room to handle additional speed should I choose to upgrade to 100 Mbps. Don't get a combined modem/router, the loss in performance and coverage is not worth the savings. Buy this and a dual band router and you wont regret it.

Really sped up my internet speed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to upgrade my internet speed through my provider and had to purchase a compliant cable router. I went to Best Buy and picked this one out, which was a mid range product - the right performance with the right price. Set up was easy, and once registered with my provider I was getting phenomenal performance. If you are thinking of going to the next level of internet speed with your provider, I highly recommend this cable router!

First class Cable Modem - Fast & Reliable.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my "go to" Cable Modem; I own two of these puppies - The first on Time Warner Cable in New York, the second on Comcast in Southeast Florida. I have referred this product to several friends already. This modem is highly rated by staff at both cable providers. Now called Arris, formerly Motorola, this product just works. It's very fast. It's very reliable. The modem function here is separate from your wireless router, because as router technology changes (more often) you don't have to replace the cost of the modem part.
