Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this cable modem to replace the one Time Warner was charging me a $10 monthly rental fee to use (check your billing statements). It was easy to set up, easy to register with Time Warner (you will need to call them), and has worked fine so far. Check which speed internet service you have first, and make sure whatever modem you buy will handle that speed.

Great Modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this modem to avoid paying to rent one from the cable company. It pays for itself instantly. Easy setup and works great with the online registration through the cable company. Most times, it allows for higher speeds than what currently subscribed for. The small size allows the modem to be placed in smaller areas compared to ones from years ago. The flashing blue lights can be bright if facing. Overall, this modem is a great buy.

Great cable modem, as expected! FAST!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical about this modem even though the reviews were great, but decided to buy it anyways and give it a shot. After plugging it in and going with comcast, I was amazed at how fast my internet was. The speed given to me exceeded the speed listed by comcast for just a basic package. I am truly satisfied with this modem and hope it will last me years to come and also it saves you money on the modem rental of $7/month. It will pay off in 14 months and it's yours to keep!

Faster Than Other 3.0 Modems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using the exact same network (Apple Airport Extreme and Express) and ISP (Charter) I clocked around 60 to 75 MBPS with the previous generation Motorola 3.0 modem (6121). Now with this model I routinely clock around 120 MBPS. Uploads were increased as well. Went from 4 to 5 up to 18 to 22. These were incredible gains and all I did is upgrade the modem to this new model. Worth an upgrade.

Better than the old one...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was pretty easy to set up and everything seems to run a little faster. But I absolutely hate the bright LED lights on the front! Lights up the whole living room at night!

Sb6141
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Typically I dont write reviews because I do a lot of research on products before buying them, so generally Im happy with what I get. Now, I bought this product because I was paying WOW cable renting fees for 3 years on a modem. I probably bought 4 new modems with what I was paying to rent. I am tech savy and generally know what Im doing. I've been in school for this stuff for awhile now and end up teaching customer service a few new things. The problem is upgrading to this modem. Its a great modem and can offer higher speeds. I like the multiple channels it provides upstream and down stream. But what it will do is cut out on you (lose internet) for about 1-2 minutes and reboot. This will go on 10-20 times a day, Customer support for this product said to call my internet provider because everything on there end is good. Wow tech would come out and check and said everything is fine on there end as well. I even had the tech rewire, getting rid of all splitters. I still had the problem, I tried to upgrade the firmware, which it said it was already upgraded and still nothing. I've changed my DNS servers and pointed them to open source such as google free DNS (which gave me faster speeds) Again nothing. I broke down and gave up, which I dont usually do since this stuff is what I like to do. (finding the problem and fixing it myself) I went back to Best Buy and bought a new modem (not this one) Havent had a problem!!! Come to find out, this modem biggest problem and reason why its returned so much is because of the lost internet connection. If only i didnt read the Best buy reviews and went with PC world reviews, I would have found out sooner. If you get this modem and start losing signal and then it reboots, chances are its the modem and not your ISP (internet provider)

Very solid product. No issues.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have no complaints with this modem and it works perfectly with TWC service. Plus by saving the $8 a month TWC wants to charge to "lease" a modem it'll pay for itself in less than a year.

Perfect modem for Cox Communications users.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Motorola SB5120 modem finally sent and received its last packets the other day -- went out after nearly a decade of use -- so I bought this unit, SB6141. Prior to purchasing this unit, I made sure that it was a compatible modem with my cable company, Cox Communications. You can generally find the modem(s) that your specific cable/internet provider recommends on their website. Going from a DOCSIS 1.1 modem to DOCSIS 3.0 modem gave me a very large performance increase; slight increase in download speeds and HUGE increase in upload speeds. I decided to buy a DOCSIS 3.0 router at the same time I purchased this modem -- router was around 6 years old -- so I purchased Netgear N900(dual band router). I couldn't be more happy with both products and I highly recommend them both. If you're curious about my speed increases, here they are: Old average download speed: 22 - 25 Mbps (2.75 - 3 MB/s) New average download speed: 24 - 30 Mbps (3 - 3.75 MB/s) Old average upload speed: 3 - 7 Mbps (0.375 - 0.875 MB/s) New average upload speed: 17 - 26 Mbps (2.125 - 3.25 MB/s)

Faster and Better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple and easy to use/install. Did a speed test with comcast using the old surfboard docsis2.0 and got terribly slow upload/download. Installed the new modem with docsis3.0 and reran the same test and got way better speeds. Internet games and netflix run a lot smoother. Worth the upgrade if you are subscribing to comcast blast packages that use docsis 3.0. Also make sure you upgrade the wireless router at the same time, otherwise you'll still have a bottle neck.

nice upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought this to be ready for another Comcast upgrade coming soon - was still using the old sb 5120, and needed DOCSIS 3.0. install took about 2 minutes out of the box...and about 10 minutes on the phone with Comcast tech. Nice working with a local Comcast live body for the install. I have only the "performance" package which promises 20mbps downloads...routinely holding at 25mbps (was clocking mid-teens on a good day with the old modem). Also, the 5120 would need booting a few times weekly...I'm a week in on the 6141...and it's been 100% solid: both downlink and uplink remain bonded.

Modem to replace TWC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the SB 6141 modem as a replacement for a Time Warner Cable modem. Called TWC and had it set up and running in less than 10 minutes. Did a test at Speedtest, got the exact results as the TWC modem I was replacing, just over 16 mbps. This thing can double as a night light, it's very noticeable when room is completely dark. If you dont want it to show, cover it up or turn around.
