Works as designed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have had Comcast XFinity Internet service for the last 2 years, prior had ATT for 4 years and before that Comcast Business for 5 years. Yes, I switched from Comcast Business to ATT because of constant outages, then went back to Comcast XFinity for Performance after they resolved their outage issues in my area. So far I am pleased with the down and up speeds. However, the leased modems provided by Comcast have always been problematic for me. Maybe just me, or my usage, area, etc, but it seems that we replaced the devices on a regular basis. Today I decided to upgrade to my own purchased hardware, so I can manage the functionality, reliability, and segregate features. The Motorola SB6141 is working as designed and I am completely happy with its current function on my network. I rather have my Modem do its thing, my Router do its own thing, VPN, and Wifi, etc...you get my point. I think it's best to keep these things separate so it's much easier to identity a failure point and replace it without going through all the crazy reconfiguration when swapping out devices. I guess I don't enjoy simplicity in the number of devices but I do enjoy being able to troubleshoot an issue and replace hardware fairly quick. The SB6141 does what its supposed to do, thats handle the communication with Comcast, as the external device, thats it!

Status quo
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I expected this modem would improve my computer speed and operation since I was replacing a much older Motorola model, rented from Time Warner. I'm a little disappointed that performance is about the same. Also, I had to call the company to activate, contrary to instructions that came with the modem and also the TW website instructions. But that wasn't too bad and it has worked fine since. Set-up otherwise was easy. I'm not sorry I bought it, since I won't have to pay monthly rental fees now. I wonder if another modem may have actually improved performance.

Excellent modem

About the same as previous Generation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw this modem come out just as I was getting ready to move to comcast internet. I had a choice between this, or the previous generation SB1621 modem. They both were just about the same price, so I went with this one, the SB1641, and I haven't looked back. The modem pulls down my rated internet speed without issues and I have no complaints. This modem is by far much faster than some of the modems comcasts leases out.

Lightning fast speeds!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll keep it short and to the point. Replaced my Surfboard 5100 after using it for 6 years only because I could not get full speeds with it, and maxed out at 27mbps. As soon as I hooked this bad boy up, and upload and download indicators turned blue, link turned blue .. and I was up and running at Comcast's advertised speeds of 50/10 .. in reality I get 55/12. :) Absolutely love this modem. Everything is definitely a lot faster than before, and I thought my 27mbps was fast.

WOW more than I expected!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased product which arrived within 5 days. Instructions included were very simple to understand and written in a font size I could see. Setup was very simple. Called my ISP Brighthouse who walked me thru setup after obtaining the "mac" address. Made sure I could get online. Total time to setup took perhaps 30 minuets. Modem has now been installed for over a week. Speed appears to have increased somewhat. Connects with my Smart TV, my two Roku boxes etc. Great move which will save me the monthly rental of $3.50 so it should pay for itself within 18 months.

Correction to previous review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In a previous review I indicated you would need 2 additional Ethernet cables to install this modem if your current setup only includes a Time Warner phone / internet modem. This was a mistake since you will not need any additonal Ethernet cables. Instead you will need two additional short coax cables to attach the Time Warner Phone / Cable modem and your new Arris modem to the coax cable splitter mentioned in the previous review. Sorry for the error.

Fast and reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a 200Mbps service from a company called Suddenlink in southwest Missouri. This modem performs wonderfully, providing the full 200Mbps download and 20Mbps upload speeds we're paying for. This will pay itself off in less than a year compared to renting from the service provider.

AMAZING AND EASY!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I usually don't bother to write reviews but I wanted to add to the raves about this modem because I made my decision based on the huge amount of reviews I found about it. They are all correct and this is a really easy install and compatible 100% with Mac and Airport Express....I just plugged it, called the mega monster Internet provider, gave them the address and off we went....no more creepy overpriced and unjustified modem lease fees.....thanks Motorola! I haven't been this excited about you guys since the Star Tac! HAHA!!!

Great modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced a 8 year old failing modem. Speeds are nice with 20mbps connection through TWC. Works good with multiple devices connected with router. Lights are bright but is ok for my installation.
