Great replacement for the rental modem

This modem saved me from the slow modem/router that the cable company rents. Works flawlessly and does not need to be reset every day like the rental. Compact design and plenty of vents allows placement in any direction. The lights are a little bright to have in a bedroom, but I just turned mine the other way. A quick 10 min call with the cable company had me running at 57 MBPS in no time. Granted, I have the 50 MEG connection .. the other modem would hit this speed, but not maintain it over the course of a few days unless you reset it. If you have a router, a plain modem always works better than putting a rental all in one unit in bridged mode. Ask me how I know.

Works with my Optimum Brooklyn internet

This modem is great and I can vouch that it works with Optimum (in Brooklyn at least) however you MUST call them and register the MAC ID with the company or it will probably not work. The guy at best buy told me people were returning them saying it didn't work so I'm assuming those customers never made the appropriate phone call to Optimum technical support. I bought this because Arris is the brand that Optimum uses and I wanted a hassle-free set up experience without compatibility issues. Here's to saving $10(+) on your monthly bill! Good stuff Arris!

Changed internet provider and needed a modem so I didn't have to pay monthly lease for their inferior modem. This was good unit for the money. Have had it about a month and have to reboot a couple times a week, but I think that may be a router or service provider issue. Modem seems to be functioning fine.

It is a simple piece of machinery

I went into Best Buy looking for another DOCSIS 3.0 model that could handle a 100mb/s connection. I was going to repurchase my old Motorola Surfboard but this $7 more with increased hardware specs. Why not? I have only had it for a few weeks but it has been working great.

I purchased this cable modem instead of leasing on from my ISP. The setup was simple and it has worked very well thus far. I would purchase another one.

This cable modem works out of the box. I had to call comcast to give them the MAC ID for the initial setup. The light in the front of the device is very bright.

Works perfectly aftr Comcast authorization problem

This is the third modem I bought after starting new Comcast ISP service. The first was an Arris which was the same unit as Comcast rents their users. It was terrible; lost connection frequently. The second was the "junior cousin", Motorola SB 6121, which worked OK after Comcast finally got it "authorized". But then I did further research and felt I wanted a unit which would provide the fastest connection if and when I upgraded my Comcast connection to super speeds and also upgraded my wireless router to gigabit ethernet ability (all three things are needed to take full advantage of highest speed Internet connection). So I spent an extra $18 to upgrade to the Motorola SB 6141, Again, Comcast gave me all kinds of trouble setting up the modem and getting it "authorized". (This may have also had something to do with the need of the modem to connect many times over several days and/or to download latest firmware -- I'm not sure about this). All I know is that it was a frustrating three or four days of getting on the line with Comcast to get the modem properly connected. But after the good connection was established, it has worked like a champ -- never lost Internet once in past 3 weeks. Connection works great to get Netflix without buffering. It is all I could ask for. Oh-- and when we got power outage three times over a four hour period, the modem reset itself after power returned (took about 3-5 minutes).

    Tied of cable company charges

After TWC started charging a lease fee for the modem, I got tired of dealing with that and purchased my own. For the fee charged for this personal modem, I'm able to more than pay it off within a year and still have no fees to contend with going forward. Didn't feel it was right for them to charge a fee for a modem when I'm already paying for the service. The only downside is that the lights are much brighter than the cable co's modem. We have to put a box on the side to shield the bright lights at night or it will keep you up with all the blinking it does. Great product otherwise.

    SB 6141 Modem (White)

I've had 6 different modems over the years and this one is the best. The 6141 White supersedes the black with updated firmware. I found out that its best not to do the self install. A Comcast tech told me to always call in to do the install so they can optimize the settings in the new modem for peak speed. My Comcast Blast speed went from 25 Mbts to 57Mbts after calling in. The rep sent a signal to my new modem boosting the speed after I did the self install. The rep told me that the self install does not boost the speed up,you have to call in. My speed is 57/11.

    Solid cable modem

I purchased the ARRIS SB6141 to replace a Time Warner/Spectrum leased modem which dropped connections up to four times daily. It took 3-5 minutes to setup and activate this modem. A bonus was the form factor of this modem, small footprint. Since being activated the SB6141 has operated without issue and I am seeing a nice speed increase of up to 75MB down and 6 MB up. All the positive reviews I read on this modem was a contributing factor in my purchase decision. Very very pleased with it so far

    Works well but...

Does what it is advertised to do but I would recommend going with the 6183 if you're with TWC because you may in the future make the upgrade to internet speeds faster than 300mbps and this would really help you out since you would have to purchase it again and it works with lower speed connections as well. This device though is actually good for what it does, and worth the purchase. It will also get you away from those monthly charges for the device and their wifi but you'll need to get a router as well since this only has a single ethernet connection.

    Fast modem

Yes, purchasing this unit means then you would have to have a separate unit for the router, but I would say that it works better. This unit, with the Netgear Nighthawk, fulfilled my needs to cover my 1,200 sq ft home. It was very easy to set up. Immediately after connecting the cable and attempted to connect with the internet, I was automatically directed to my broadband provider (Cox) to where I agreed I was changing my modem. After this brief period, I was hooked up and ready to go. As I said very easy.

Have been using this for almost a year and got this mainly because of the price and it was on my cable operator's list of self install modems. Assuming you use this for 3 years, it's better purchasing one than renting one from your cable operator @$5/month. I plan to use this for the next 3 years (used my previous modem, DOCSIS 2.0 for 3 years). I only have minor problems when we get power back from outage. I'm glad that I didn't get the modem with Wi-Fi built-in because you can always upgrade your Wi-Fi router separately.
