Great dependable modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've found this modem to be quite dependable. I had to get this since my cable company started charging $3 monthly rental fee for use of their modem late last year. It was quite easy to set up and I've hardly had any issues with connection. It's quite reliable and has been great so far.

Great Modem , disappointing " free shipping"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modem is a huge upgrade from my antique surfboard modem. The free shipping was UPS that transfers to a local US Post Office for final delivery. I was not made aware of this until I tracked the package after the original delivery date had passed, only to find the new delivery date was 4 days later. Partially due to no postal service on the weekend and the postal services declining viability. I guess if you need it in normal UPS ground time you should upgrade shipping. You get what you pay for.

Does the job.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modem does exactly what it is suppose to do. It has green and blue LED's that let you know if you are on higher connection or not which is nice to see if you are truly getting the speeds you want.

product works great but will Comcast let it work?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.wanting to save a few bucks a month on my Comcast bill I picked one up and called Comcast and gave them the Mac ID # easy right. After being on the phone with them for an hour I was able to open a page on one PC but could not get to the internet on any other PC's or ipad ? I'm using this with an Apple Time Machine, soon as I hooked up the Comcast modem and plugged in the Time machine every PC is the house worked fine and the speed was back up to 25Mbps. I suspect Comcast is De-Tuning when you use your own modem.

Great for Cable Connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aside from the annoyance of setting up this modem with your cable company, dealing with their schedule, and having the tech come out to provision this device, this modem is a great gateway to getting the service you purchase from your cable company. Often times, a cable company will use outdated and old equipment to modem to the signal, and you are only going to see a degradation of internet bandwidth once the tech leaves your house. Cable internet is always shared, so if you are one of a few using the signal in your area, you are golden with this modem. The minute, however, that others decide to become members of your cable community, you will most likely see half of the signal you usually should get. NOTE: DSL in local areas is often downplayed as an internet service provider of value, but DSL can often be dedicated, and will never degrade or lose your paying levels. You don't share with your neighbors. So, if you can, check your local phone company for this offer-making sure you can find dedicated 30mbs service. This modem will not do that, but if you only can find cable in your area, this model is fantastic. White is the color to buy, as the black units are returns from other users in the cable ISP field. Do not buy used, as this device is best purchased new with the white case, to ensure it has not been a re-manufactured unit. Not a good idea for a device that runs every day for 24/7.

Helped speed up my connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product helped to speed up my internet connections. It's too bad I had to deal with the Comcast folks for set up. They are always horrible to deal with:( That made the set up not so easy.

The Best Modem to Ditch Those Rental Fees!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Renting a modem from your ISP can be expensive & you get given "OLD Slow Technology!" I'm with Brighthouse and in just over 12 months the initial cost will be re-paid then its saving me $7 + Tax per month! (A good investment in anyone's books!) If you're looking for a modem that will last you well into the future also then this is the best option! It's been designed for future-proofing. Not only is it approved for multiple cable companies, it also supports the DOCSIS 3.0 standard, which will be necessary in the coming years if you want to subscribe to higher speeds. so with that it'll last you a long time, even if you switch providers. And if you ever leave for a non cabled area or your new provider wont let you BYOD (Bring your own Device) then you be able to sell it on and get your $$'s back with ease!

Cable Modem Compatible With Comcast...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this cable modem for the gigabit connection it can make with our Comcast Provider. So far the unit has performed flawlessly. It stays on 24/7 and does not have many problems. We have the occasional restart issues but that is usually do to super horrible storms in the area and Comcast flaking out... Yes.. I disliked the white case. But it was the only on the store floor. I didn't want to wait three to five days for the black one to arrive.

Nice option for TWC customers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re not looking to “pay” TWC the $10 a month to rent a modem, this is a great option. You would spend more in a year renting with TWC than purchasing this modem. One thing to be on the lookout for: if you are connecting to a secure portal for remote office work, this modem does work and the speeds are fast, however some recommend the modem one step above this.

No confidence in hardware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do not have confidence in this modem. The Ethernet connection was bad going into the modem. Initially you believe it is a problem getting reconnected to Timewarner with a new MAC id. After a few hours, I called the ARRIS help number. After replugging several cables and connecting to a different computer with a different operating system, the ARRIS help decided it was a bad Ethernet connector ON the modem. Exchanged the modem for another one. Contacted Timewarner for new MAC id and the new one was up in 5 minutes. This is a first for me, a hardware problem right out the box for any modem I have purchased. Maybe I have been lucky. But the confidence in the product is now sketchy at best.

Get rid of that Comcast "Gateway" modem!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a month or so of satisfactory service, Comcast's Gateway modem we leased started to disconnect Internet service about EVERY THIRD DAY. There were no service-area outages. It was the Gateway modem. (We experienced the same problems a few years ago when we had Comcast's Gateway.) Oh, the number of calls we've made to Comcast since we first got service installed! Knowing that a simple modem does work well (had hardly any problems with the $50 ARRIS Touchstone cable modem we used for over 2 years in a rural area where Comcast was not a provider) and after reading the reviews here, we bought this ARRIS SB6141. What a relief! From day one (which was almost 4 months ago), we've had to reboot the modem ONCE after which Internet service came right back up. That's it! No problems with Internet service. No twice-a-week calls to Comcast (at least not regarding Internet service disconnections). Even with what appears to indicate a weak incoming signal--something a Comcast tech mentioned--(90% of the time, the "globe" icon on this ARRIS modem keeps flashing from green to white and the "send" icon is white instead of blue; these all started out solid green and solid blue respectively), Internet service has been as it should be. Seamless. Thanks much ARRIS & Best Buy!

Great Modem But Very Bright
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modem works great. I've not had any issues over the last several months of use. It is Docsis 3.0 which is why I bought to replace an aging modem with a lower standard. What was important to me is that it was a Surfboard which is what I've stuck with over the years. My only concern was the lights are so bright on this. I actually taped a piece of paper over them to dim them some. If you have in a location that the lights don't bother you, no problem. That is the only reason for the 4 rating.

Still chugging after more than 5 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably need to think about replacing this after all this time, but this has been a good modem for us. We bought it to replace the integrated modem with phone service from our cable company when we decided to go with cell phones only.

Good Comcast Compatible Modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this modem and have been using it for a couple years. Works fine with a lower tier comcast subscription. We were able to get speeds good for streaming over wifi - I'd stream Game of Thrones on my tablet in the back yard. Needing to upgrade to a modem that does voice. But if you have a lower tier comcast subscription and want a decent, inexpensive, base-level modem, this would be on my list to choose from.

Easy as 1-2-3...then call TWC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks 'neat'; ergonomic small footpring; easily set up. Obtained a proper IP from Time Warner IMMEDIATELY; However, TWC requires any new modem to be registered via phone with them, so the process dragged out after that. Took less than one full minute to get it out of the box, connected, powered up, and to get a valid IP, but at least 10 minutes on the phone with TWC to get it 'provisioned' (NOT an automatic process--and you'll want to talk to a rep the VERY FIRST call--this is not their ordinary 'reboot' process). Great little modem, looking forward to it solving some really big issues in my girlfriend's home network. Performed speed tests immediately after getting off phone with TWC, and the results were overwhelmingly better than before. Any DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem might help you reach your desired cable broadband speeds, but the SurfBoard series has been out from the start, and has a stellar reputation, so for this price, this little guy beats all, and certainly one of the better Black Friday deals at Best Buy right now. If you wanna own your OWN cable broadband modem, this is the perfect unit for most at speeds approaching the 50mbps level. BTW, ANY modem you do buy will have to be registered on the TWC network, so don't let that keep anyone from going after this great deal. I'd call this one of those 'dark horse' items that no one thinks of to buy on Black Fri (we always go after routers, for good reason!)...but what's a great router if your modem is slowing it down?!
