    Great Purchase

got this modem because I wanted to be future proof and I upgraded my internet to a 1 gig plan. I had a brief scare because my internet service (grande) took awhile to get it configured. I didn't realize the modem had only been out for a month or two. But once they got it up my internet is more stable. The modem is cooler than my last one and much smaller which is nice. Setup is easy, Just make sure your ISP is ready for it.

Great Modem, but Admin Access needs work

    Posted .

I replaced my Netgear modem with the Arris SB8200 because my internet kept dropping out and so far it has been outstanding as far as internet speed and wifi. I was taking numerous uncorrectables in my modem logs and I needed access to the admin console in the modem. Arris apparently changed the Subnet mask for some security reasons. This made access from my router impossible and direct connect via ethernet also did not work. However, on the Arris tech support site, I found a work around that allows access to the Admin Console via the second port on the modem. I can see the logs now in real time. I have had no drop out since purchase two days ago.

Probably one of the best plug and play modems out there. Most Internet Service provider has an app that you can just activate and plug it in to your router and your live! You have two ports you’re able to use on the back of it one gig and a 2.5 gig and I don’t experience any throttles so it’s 100% excellent.

I replaced older ARRIS surfboard. No problem with it so far for last 8 years but did not support new high speed. the set up was easy. It worked out of the box with Xfinity. The activation was breeze via Xfinity app. I am noticing higher speeds on connected devices. Verified by running speed tests.

Modem Lives Up to Its Specifications

Recently Optimum (formerly Suddenlink) upgraded my internet service from 400 Mbps to 1 Gbps. My previous SURFboard modem was rated at 600 Mbps. The Arris S33 has been online 100% of the time since installation. The modem is stable and lives up to its specifications. I routinely have download speeds between 920 and 960 Mbps. I purchased the Arris S33, because I have had positive experiences with other Arris modems. I have never had an Arris modem fail. I would definitely recommend the S33.

A very nice cable modem tarnished by hype

    Posted .

This is probably the best value of the fully DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems. I took off one star because of the misleading hype on the package. Yes, it is capable of downloading data at 10Gbps, but it cannot send data to your router at that speed because the Ethernet connection is limited to 2.5Gbps. Thus even if you pay your cable company for 10Gbps Internet service, and install a 10Gbps Ethernet card in your high-end computer, you will never actually see download speeds anywhere near this because of the bottleneck at the 2.5Gbps Ethernet connector at the read of the modem. Despite the hype, I am quite happy with this modem. I paired it with a TP-Link wired router (no wifi) so I could get rid of the modem/router from Comcast that prevents the user from turning off the wifi radio! The Xfinity app connected the modem to the Internet after I entered its MAC address, but trying to use the Xfinity app for further setting up is a waste of time; I used the TP-Link's internal router program to set up my wired network. If you want to use your own equipment (always a good idea) and have a separate cable modem and network router, this is a fine choice. But if you REALLY want 10Gbps from the Internet all the way to your computer, you're gonna have to pay $600 for Arris' modem/router.

    Perfect for Xfinity

Best modem I have had by far. Setup was within 11 minutes, shorter than my call to Xfinity to register it. Pulling at or above max speed on my Xfinity plan. I wish I had upgraded to this sometime ago and solved some of my previous headaches with Xfinity.

Great modem. Looks modern now, works great. This modem replaced my SB 6183. Getting good speeds with cox cable. Only thing I can't do is get into the administration panel using 192.168.100.1 as instructed. I did a hard reset, plugged directly into modem with laptop, trying each port separately. Just sitting there spinning. I want to change the default password but can't. Other than that, great modem.

I have Comcast, and they told me my old router was not capable of my new faster speeds so I read up on this modem. My old router was an Arris also, and never gave me any problems........oh yea, the set up was easy using the Xfinity(Comcast) app on my iPhone.
