I had no trouble installing the modem, one thing that was a concern of mine at the age of 81. It was so different from the one I had and is more compact. I’ve had no issues with it since I installed it.

Overkill... And thats okay. My ISP is upgrading all their lines and have have demanded all customer get DOCSIS 3.1 modems. The setup process to get my device registered with my ISP was seemless. Does what its suppose to do. Provide adequate bandwidth as Im currently getting 300down/30up without issue. The cool thing is should I one day want to move up to gigabit this modem will get the job done... If one should there be a 10gig bandwith available this modem will still be able to get the job done.

Tested this one (along with a CM3000) on my 2gb Xfinity plan. I got decent download speeds of around 700mbs but fell way short on the upload side (avg 4mbs on three different speed test). Hooked up the CM3000 and got around 1.1gbs to 1.4gbs on the download side and an astonishing 350mbs avg on the upload side. Like others have said, this S33 model simply does not support Xfinity’s faster speeds.

This was a recommendation by Xfinity for the speed upgrade they gave me. Setup was pretty easy since I took advantage of my totaltech membership and had a service crew do the installation. It saved me a couple hours of down time if I did it myself.

No complaints yet and I’ve owned it for almost a year now. Super quiet running and very small and lightweight to be able to set it up anywheres in your home. It’s a bit too light though honestly as the attached cables can pull it back, onto its side etc if it’s not routed with a little bit of slack.

The modem works great with Cox. Have had nearly no downtime other than what I assume is maintenance from Cox themselves. Very easy to setup.

So far, so good after a month. This unit replaces a 343 Mbps modem that was working well, but my ISP upped my download speed to 400 Mbps, and my home mesh network and laptop are capable of 800 Mbps. The Arris Surfboard S33 will let me go to that speed and higher as my equipment evolves. Used CAT6a cable to connect the S3 to my home mesh, and had to call my ISP and read the MAC address to them to get them to recognize the S3. I did update my home network's QoS parameters to take advantage of the increased speed. Since then, it's worked great. See the speed test result.

The Arris Surfboard S33 is a pretty modem if cosmetics are important for placing it in a public space. There are no buttons or distracting connection points. The soft blue light assures you it is receiving power and presumably is working correctly. But when I get error messages saying there is no internet connection to my Wi-Fi, the ARRIS is sort of useless to help correct or diagnose the source of the issue. There is no solution except unplug it and re-plug it and hope everything magically works. That's not hard, but in our situation, the modem is placed on a high cabinet near the mesh Wi-Fi master unit, so it requires getting out a ladder to pull the plug. An on-off button could have helped.
