Strange option of using two cables for 3.5ghz speed but need another one from your ISP. Had massive packet losses at random times really interfering with gaming. Wanted to blame ISP but picked up a 3.1 Modem from Netgear and everything is great. Returning this thing today

Keeps re-setting itself and then needs to re-connect, which takes about 3 minutes. Then will work for about 10 minutes and then reset again. Perfect for families looking to cut down on screen time as you won't be able to stream anything. Called customer support and after a long hold time, they hung up when I went to retrieve my laptop as instructed (about 30 seconds). Stay away.

Arris SURFboard S33 not working with Cox

Purchased to replace an older cable modem, but was umnable to install with Cox Cable service. Cox tech support tired to help, but would not connect. Cox finally offered a service call, but it would cost $75 if Cox tech discovered an issue not related to Cox. Didnt want to roll the dice so kept old modem and returned this one.

Top separates from bottom on two modems purchased.

First one I purchased fell apart when I got it out of the box. The top separated from the bottom. Took it back and got a replacement. That was in 09/23. This month 07/24, my upload speeds were at 10mbs instead of over 100mbs. Disconnected the coax cable and the top separated from the bottom. Shaking it you can hear pieces rattling. Had geek squad protection and got most of the purchase price back and went with a netgear modem.

Just stopped working just barely over a year old!!

Had it for just a little over a year now. Was working fine until i did a routine power cycle last night. Would no longer send a signal or connect to service. Troubleshooting with the ISP also didnt help as everything was fine on their end. They couldn’t see the modem was sending a signal anymore. Tried to do a factory reset several timees and that wouldn’t work. Thing is a piece of junk. Never going to purchase another product from them if they don’t last long. This thing wasnt cheap either. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS!!!

I picked up the S33 October of 2024, it died 07/04/2025. The modem worked fine for months and now the modem is only capable of 150mbs down if your lucky. Two Spectrum technicians spent 3 hours playing around with everything. $200 planned obsolescence.. Enjoy your Freedumb!

Stopped working for no reason. Called Arris bc I only had it for 5 months. They did not stand behind their product and I was out $150. Ended up using cable company modem and it was faster...

    Runs SUPER HOT

Ran well for almost 90 days, but the ventilation is very poor and the S33 runs super hot, even in a well ventilated area. Mine eventually cooked itself right at the 3-month mark and failed to maintain a connection. My ISP said they have no service outages and my old modem is still able to connect, so the only bad link in the chain is the new S33 modem. I expected much better from Arris than a dead $200 modem in 90 days.

I waited a few week before I installed it. When connected to power it was dead on arrival. Best Buy would not accept a return or exchange because it was more than 15 days. Now I'm dealing with the Manufacturer for a warranty exchange for a product that never turned on. Not a simple process.

Spectrum did not like this unit....that was tops on compatibility list....After 5 phone calls, 18 hrs, 1 tech visit and 4 days of virtually no stable internet connections.Unable to determine if the unit was the issue or spectrum just wanted me to use their modem. I returned unit to store.

Very deceptive advertising. Says it has a 2.5 Gbps port, but the max speed you can get on this is 1.2 GBPs (just confirmed with a support call with Arris). Also, each port only has 4 upload channels, so it really isn’t 32x8, it’s 32x4, which means the max upload speed is 40 Mbps, which is a joke these days.

Modem died today, after a little bit over 3 months. It disconnects and reboots constantly, I called ISP and they said they couldn't see my modem. I popped back in my old modem and connection became rock solid. I swapped back to this modem again just to see if it was the ISP's connection, well, modem started dropping the connection and rebooting itself again. Now I'm back to my old modem. Warranty replacement seems impossible, their website done a great job redirecting me back to their FAQ.

This is not a good system to use; we returned this to BestBuy. The app was awful; it couldn't interact with Spectrum. I would not recommend it.
