I've TRIED ALL THE HIGH END GAMING HEADSET MAILY FOR CONSOLE. A40 TR's, 2013 & 2014 Astro A40s, Turtle Beach Elite 800s, etc. All are good but for some reason These Astro A50 is what I prefer. I prefer Astro over Turtle Beach due to sound quality. Not to say that Turtle Beach sounds terrible, but Astro sounds much more fuller with deeper punch. I wouldn't recommend the A40 TR right now b/c it sounds like you're playing in a Tin Can: like always if you hate cords go wireless preferably the Astro A50s hands down. Con: only issue is battery life is around 4-5 hours for me I'm guessing its because the headset can get very loud. Which is ok with me because the Astro A40s doesn't get that loud even at Max on the mixamp.

    Best headset available for PS4!

I have owned a number of different headsets ranging from Triton to Turtle Beach to Astro. Out of those three the Astro brand has been the best. I have had the A40s the A40 wireless and the A50s. I just upgraded to the all-new A50 wireless headset specifically designed for PlayStation 4 and I'm absolutely blown away! I didn't think it was possible but the new A50s sound even better than the old A50s! The sound is incredibly clear and crisp. The 5.8 Wireless is hands down the best wireless connectivity you can get for a headset. No interference of any kind. Astro even upgraded the comfort of the headset making them a little lighter and more comfortable than the older A50s. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for the best possible headset for PlayStation 4 but who also isn't worried about spending a lot for a high quality headset.

Most comfortable headset i have tried. Sounds really good but there is a low buzz that gets annoying when no game sound is on. Also there is no xbox chat cable like the description says. I will be contacting bestbuy about this. Tried alot of turtle beaches but astros are currently my favorite.

    Disconnects from PS4

To begin, I do like the headset itself. I really like the sturdy build and how comfortable the headset sits. It sits around my ears so after long sessions of gaming, my ears dont hurt. The headset has good sound and I like the mic quality. BUT for some reason, every 30 seconds to 20 minutes, the headset decides to disconnect. It then reconnects to the tranmitter, but this is definitely a problem. I exchanged one Astro A50 which had this problem for another A50 headset and I am still experiencing this problem. Dissapointed for a $300 headset

Coming from using the Astro a40 and thinking nothing could beat those, I ended up eating my words with the a50s. Noise canceling, relatively light, comfortable, on the go volume control you name it this headset can do it

I owned the other headsets including the Turtlebeach PX4 and 500P prior to trying the A50 out. The A50s have terrific sound and are way more comfortable. They are probably the best wireless headsets currently available for the PS4. The issues: 1) Major- The buzzing in the right ear issue that has reported by others on the Web is no joke. While your mic is not turned off, there is a slight buzzing in your ear most of the time. Astro has already acknowledged the issue and no fix is within sight. It's not bad if you're blasting the headsets on a FPS but quite noticeable all of the time when the sound is back to normal levels. If the headset was $175, I'd say it's fine to look past considering all the strengths. 2) Minor- The battery life is 8-10 hours. I fully recharge it properly each day. TurtleBeach headsets, for half the price, last about 16 hours.

I upgraded to these from the Logitech G930s after getting tired from the constant disconnects. I decided to take a risk and spend some money on a headset. No regrets! The headset it great. Uses the optical port on your PC/Console for audio. Can adjust game and talk volume from the headset with no need to adjust volume in game to hear your friends. The audio from this headset is not the loudest you can get... but it is one of the clearest/most crisp sound you can get. Lows and highs sound great.

You really do get what you pay for! I bought these yesterday afternoon after researching a few competing models the previous night. This A50 PS4 headset is a replacement for my nearly two-year-old Sony Pulse Elite headset (which totally broke two days ago). My initial thought in a single word--Awesome. The sound and build quality on the A50 are both amazing; MUCH improved over my old Sony Pulse Elite headset. I typically play FPS games (e.g., Call of Duty-Ghosts), and I can already tell that the A50 will work marvelously for that application. I can't wait to try them with Call of Duty-Advanced Warfare. I highly recommend this headset if you have the cash.

This headset is great! I read so many reviews before I purchased it. I even bought the turtle beaches elite 800. Those don't stand a chance against the Astro A50's. A lot of people are complaining about a buzzing noise in the right cup. I hear no such thing. I have played with this headset for a week and have yet to be bothered by the buzzing. Buy with confidence this headset is the real deal!

awesome headset upgraded from sony golds. but lately i've been experiencing a little quiet humming/buzzing noice from the right ear muff. i tried lowering down the volume or putting the mic in mute but it doesn't affect that noise. it only happens when there's little to no sound coming through my headphones. but once my headphones are producing gameplay noise i don't hear that humming noise. not sure if it's normal or not.

After purchasing the Turtle Beach Elite 800, I had problems and decided to switch to these. The only issue I had was that the driver needed to be updated, which turned out to be pretty painless. Haven't had any other issues with this headset. The sound is awesome and the controls are easy to use. Only thing you have to be careful of is the mic sensitivity, since it picks up everything.

I was skeptical at first..but after a week this headset put all of my doubts to rest. The treble and bass both sound supreme and rich. If you are pondering on this headset, watching a ton of different reviews, and unsure just stop. Buy this headset. I can assure you if it is ANYTHING like my experience thus far after 3 weeks than you will be just fine.

Buzz in the right ear cup

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall these headsets are comfortable, sound is acceptable for me, and the mic is better than others I've used. However, my biggest problem with this headset is that if you use it on PC, you will hear a very freaking annoying (no solution) buzzing on the right ear cup. You will always hear it when you receive no sound (i.e. browsing websites, or when your TeamSpeak/Ventrilo is quiet). According to Astro support, it is expected to have that kind of buzz when no audio is going through. So if you can deal with this buzz on your right ear when everything is quiet, then I'll say go for it. For a $300 headset, this buzz should not be there, when there is no sound going through the headset, it should be dead silent, not buzzing... If it wasn't the for the buzz, I would love the headset. I think I will just settle for the A40 wired version...

I bought this headset as I thought I would be able to use it with all of the current consoles which it is capable of doing, the only thing is out of the box you cant use this with the xbox one as no cable is included which I knew upon purchasing but I figured I would be able to purchase the cable separately at a later time. but it seems Astro will not be releasing an individually sold cable so I had to buy from their competitor Turtle beach. well the turtle beach cable works perfectly with this as long as you own the Xbox headset adapter which luckily I did already own. here is the link to the turtle beach headset cable should you need it. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/turtle-beach-ear-force-4-ps4-talkback-cable-for-playstation-4/6037029.p?id=1219182336324&skuId=6037029

I sold my Astro a40 then bought the Astro a50 since I wanted a clutter free ground. The only bad thing about this headphone is that sometimes it'll make static sounds and loses sound from 1 feet away, other than that everything works perfectly fine.

OK this is my first review ever! Soooo the A50's are really well made and when you open the box you can tell they put a lot of work time and consideration into the head set. everything works as advertised.......... OK SOUND! worth the money. I owned a Triton War Wead head set and the A50's put them to shame. CAL $22 TAX... lame. Only had for 3 days no problems. make sure you charge. Battery Life is Unknown to me still. Over all the is the nice head set I had a chance to handle even a $300 turtle beach.

After buying the Turtle Beach Elite 800 I was disappointed. Then one of my friends told me about these headsets and I was blown away at how easily they are installed... Sound was crystal clear.... No complaints so far... By the way I mainly play Call of Duty games...
