As an owner of the previous model of A50's I have to say these are superior in every way! Sound quality is better, build quality is very nice, and the chat audio works perfectly. These headphones work on both PS4 and XBOX One. You need a chat adapter for the XB1 but they work perfectly cross platform. Best pair of gaming headphones I've ever owned and worth every darn penny! Bravo to Astro! I want to buy another pair!

    Great Headset When it Works

The Astro A50 is an awesome idea; wireless surround sound gaming headset. However, right out of the box I couldn't get any sound out of the headset. I had to install outdated firmware to the headset and mixamp, still no sound, and re-update to the latest firmware in order to get sound. After about a day without me touching the headset or mixamp I only get a muffled sound out of the left ear and both sides produce an annoying noise as if you only had one car window open driving down the highway.

Fantastic, perfect for gaming or even watching a movie. Especially newer movies that support the full 7.1 surround sound.

    Pretty but bad sound quality

Bad sound quality and no happy medium. Bought because the reviews were good and wanted to upgrade since I play games on ps4 often. For $300 I thought the sound would be great, turns out there wasn't anything special about them. There is no happy medium when it comes to chat and game volume and couldn't get good sound when it came to hearing enemy foot steps or anything like with my old wireless turtle beaches.. which is pretty sad since they only cost $70. Needless to say I'm sticking with my old trustworthy cheap turtle beaches .. much to my disappointment.

    Too much of a headache

The a50 wireless headset sounds excellent in quality but that does not make up for the problems with the actual product. I made sure all the firmware was up to date when trying to trouble shoot. I was using this headset with a PC. The headset has an issue where if the microphone picks up any noise it creates a small buzzing/hissing noise in the right ear cup. This appears to be a known issue with this headset because I saw the issue all over the internet. There appeared to be no solution to this issue and this is something that I could not deal with personally. Also the headset froze on me while I was trouble shooting it and become unresponsive and no longer worked with the audio/microphone. I put the headset and other things back into the box and it'll be going back to Best Buy. If the hissing issue was resolved I would recommend these. but with this issue I would absolutely not recommend these especially because they are 300$.

    It's great when it works...

I work all day with this headset - I will drain the battery until it beeps while I work. Occasionally, I'll use it for gaming too. I've owned the thing for over 6 months now. It's a great headset, but it has a serious flaw. Serious. There is no hard reset, hard to believe, right, and it basically bricks out on the regular. When it bricks out, the audio still works, though you can tell the software isn't helping boost anything anymore. The mic still works, but quality seems reduced there too. The light is on, but none of the buttons work. When I bought this headset, it had great reviews, but I've been having this issue since day 1. People really need to give the easy publishing of their opinions thing a rest until they've had a thing for several months. Anyway, I've Googled "a50 headset won't turn off", and I've found --pages-- of people in the same boat. When this happens, I have to switch out this $250+ wireless headset for a $20 wired one while the battery dies... That's all you can do. Then you hope that it will be okay once you put it back on the charger, get the battery back to 100%, and try again. There are pages of threads too, at the maker's own website, going back to 2012. The issues still hasn't been fixed?! I wouldn't trust the "new" models of the a50, and I definitely do not trust this company anymore. As I tried all the "expert" suggestions on the internet, my return/exchange window closed. I tried updating the firmware - no dice. I've been careful not to overcharge it, and I try to only recharge it after it has beeped that the battery is low. That level of care is cumbersome, and the headset is unreliable. --Do not buy this headset.-- If I could get my money back, I would. There are many other mid-tier, wireless headsets out there. Look elsewhere. I'll never buy an Astro product again. An "oops" in design is one thing. A serious flaw that debilitates the product, and doesn't get fixed for years on end, looking like it never will? Nope. That's bull.

    Frustrating headset

I did a lot of research before buying these and unfortunately I am very disappointed in them. If your playstation is turned on you can not turn the headset off. If you want to listen to the sound through your TV it is still coming out the headset. They have way too much bass, everything sounds bassy from games to music to chat. The battery life is terrible and if you want to use them for in game chat forget about being able to hear the other player crisply. The other players say the mic sounds terrible. The only good thing is if your playing a game without wanting to do in game chat. I had the playstation golds that I returned to get these. The golds are a much better all round headset. For $299 I would expect so much more. The easiest way to waste $299 is to buy these. There are better headsets much cheaper. I'm buying another set of Playstation golds and these are going to become and expensive paper weight.

    No support, do not buy

I bought these headphones and right away noticed an extremely low volume high pitched buzz in the right ear speaker, in troubleshooting I thought I got it fixed. Occasionally it would return, but the overall headphones were good so I ignored it. Over time it's gotten to the point where it's louder than holding a tuning fork up to your ear. In searching online I found that it's due to the microphone causing feedback as the transmitter is up against the speaker. In contacting Astro Gaming about the issue they told me they know about it, but it's a non-issue and that I shouldn't notice the buzz while audio is playing. 1) I shouldn't have to drown out one noise with another 2) At this point the high pitched whine/buzz is so loud it I can hear it even while playing music or listening to a movie at max volume. So I contacted Astro Gaming again re-iterating my problems and that we need a solution and they gave me the generic answer that if it's within 30-days of purchase they will issue me a refund for the item if I send it back to them, or I can send it into them under warranty, but get this, the person actually said that if I do send it in under warranty they'll just verify that it's the standard known non-issue buzz due to microphone feedback and then send it back. I will not be buying Astro Gaming equipment anymore nor will I be recommending their products to anyone.
