I certainly understand your concern regarding the issue with the touchpad. It is a smart device, please allow some time to get use to the multi-touch function of the pad. In order to improve the touchpad responsiveness and stability, please install all recommended WINDOWS Update. If you are accessing web applications, please verify if the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will affect the responsiveness of the touchpad. Also, try updating the ASUS Smart Gesture utility and try to configure the touchpad within the application. I do understand the inconvenience if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance and noise issues with the laptop. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot, black screen temporarily or restart during the update process. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Also, clearing internet cache or browsing history will improve system performance. It is normal for the fan to spin at full-throttle and generates noise louder than normal while the laptop is under heavy load, especially during the initial WINDOWS setup and WINDOWS Update installation. Also, the fan noise will be louder while antivirus software or malware are running continuously in the background. Please make sure the system was not compromised by viruses or malware. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle and noise will be louder than normal. Bought it for a business meeting in New Jersey. Brought it back to Best Buy there, and the manager did nothing for me. In fact, was going to charge me $140 to get the data I just spent the last 4 days putting into it from my business meeting that I flew across the country for. Had to literally buy another one so I had something to use, then go through the hassle of putting it all back on the other one once I received it from repair, 12 days later. Then clear the newest one and return it. May have been my last visit to BB. Over a $230 item.

Shell and chasis very cheap feeling. Lots of play in track pad buttons. The rest works so far, but would not get again (bought online sight unseen, next time I'll make sure to see laptop in person... never seen one with so much flexing).
