Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did what most don't do, I removed everything off of this laptop and installed Linux Mint. I am a college student and very techie. This laptop zooms with power with Linux installed. I did run Windows 10 and it was excellent but I opted for Linux as it saves battery life and is more friendly for laptops in my opinion. The touchscreen worked flawlessly and if you stay with Windows 10, be sure not to delete the recovery! You will have to ask Asus or GeekSquad in order to return your laptop's "Asus Fliplock" to nominal working conditional again. The drivers didn't work when I did my tinkering so be warned.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a personal computer for the house. I did not want to spend a lot of money but also did not want to buy something that would not last. The sales rep reviewed a couple of options with me and I am happy with my purchase. I use it for the Internet, word and excel. My daughter uses it for Netflix and minecraft. My only suggestion would be to have an external drive for cd & DVDs. Also, it Would be nice if the screen came off when using as a tablet. I did not think about either of these when purchasing.

Good so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this model OPEN BOX 2 weeks ago. It was between this and the HP 13.3 same specs except the HP had a 1020HD screen and it was $150.00 more. So I put them side by side and there IS a noticeable difference between the two. This model is 720 HD, so the decision had to be made because the sales associate was ready to go hahahha but not rude. So I said "hmmmm is the resolution worth almost $200.00 more? So I said no and went with this one and not disappointed at all. The resolution is fine and the performance is also. They claim that all these new processors are better but I couldnt tell the difference between this i3 and the Intel pentium. I ran apps side by side but the deal on this open box was better than the out dated pentium and I tested it next to and i5 and still saw no difference. I sat this up easily and installed Linux on half of the harddrive and all is well. The performance is superb so far. It's lightweight and the touchscreen works with linux and is very responsive. It has only been a week but I am using this solely to make sure it performs well before the 15 day return period expires. I only use this for web browsing and media stuff. I wouldnt have bought this one at regular price though. It is a little pricey so I opted to take a chance on an open box and I am totally pleased so far. It's a little early to tell but so far so good. Serves my purpose well and I am not into all of this latest stuff and processors and things because no matter how fast a processor is, web surfing ends up the same. I had a Toshiba Satellite that was 12 yrs old and it lasted with no problems because I use linux and it doesnt get any viruses and spyware and the only reason I bought this is because the hinge broke and the screen cracked.

Ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Specs are great except for the processor. Aim for a faster processor speed if you plan on keeping the asus for a couple years b/c it won't be able to handle multitasking as good as a faster processor even if it has 6gb of ram

Nice 2 in 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a birthday gift for my son who is entering middle school. It will be his first laptop. I am very pleased with the value and quality of this product. He likes it already, and I expect him to get several years of productivity and entertainment from it.

Very disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this ASUS, thinking that the specs were very good for the price. However, there are many technical issues with this laptop. The screens brightness fades in and out while using it. The mouse disappears, and I found after that this is a common problem. The mouse pad is active, but after start up it disappears. ASUS help was useless. Printer drivers do not load properly. I am totally dissatisfied with this product and will return to Lenovo. I will not recommend this to a friend or to any other person for that matter.

Buyer Beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received the Asus with what is probably a minor software glitch - the switch to allow the screen to flip is grayed out. I couldn't find an online answer and figured no big deal, someone at Best Buy can walk me through a fix. However, I was told that I could pay for the privilege of having it fixed over the phone since I had not purchased a Geek Squad contract. So, I will shlep the 45 minutes to our nearest Best Buy and return the thing. It's too bad. It's a neat little laptop and seems solidly made. Here's my advice, don't purchase from Best Buy unless you're willing to shell out for the Geek Squad too. Because they will not make your purchase right otherwise.

Avoid at all costs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been nothing but grief for me. If you want a laptop you have to take in every few months for repairs this laptop is the one for you. The first one I got had a faulty card or something in it and it had to be completely replaced. The one I have now, the power button comes loose and has to be taken in so it can get repairs. Absolutely horrible quality. Don't get this laptop.

Terrible overall
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is extremely difficult to use. Very confusing. Bought it yesterday. Went to use it today and the screen in black. Its definitely on because the keyboard lights up and when you turn it into the tablet it makes the sounds. Waste of money. Trying to return it now.
