Customers are saying

Customers commend the 2-in-1 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop for its excellent touch screen feature, fast performance, and reasonable price. They also appreciate the Windows 10 operating system, good battery life, and suitability for light gaming. However, some users have concerns about the display driver that frequently stops, the laptop being a fingerprint magnet, limited USB ports, and occasional internet connectivity issues.

    Overall a nice laptop

I like the feel of the keys and the touch screen is nice. The laptop is a little lighter than my old Toshiba, but that is probably because it doesn't have the CD drive. Now that some of the initial problems seem to be cleared up and I'm becoming more acquainted with Windows 10, I'm really enjoying using it. The screen is extremely bright so I had to turn the brightness down quite a bit. I also had to go to a larger display setting than the default. I know I won't use the back lighting on the keyboard as I think it would be a distraction while typing. Also, I would think it would use battery life quicker. The only issues I've had are 1) the Internet shutting down when I was typing a message (Facebook or email), which only happened a couple of times, and 2) sudden, brief black screen while on the Internet/scrolling, with a message popping up saying, "Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered" when the screen resumed. I have read this problem has occurred on various Windows laptops, including the new Surface, and suspect the problem is related to Windows 10. I initially tried updating the display driver, which didn't seem to help. Since I am not a computer expert, I was fearful of making any serious changes. I did an Internet search and while I found several offered solutions (including updating the driver) nothing seemed to help. After wandering the Internet maze of information, and finding nothing else I was willing to try, I came across some information that gave me the idea it might be Windows related. I made sure to do the November 2015 Windows 10 update, AND install the updates, which seemed to take forever, with a couple of restarts. (Note: you might want to change the setting as to how soon the laptop goes to sleep when idle). It initially did the updates when I was shutting down, so I don't think it updated completely until I went back in to complete it without shutting it down. Apparently, just shutting it down doesn't have the same benefit as restarting it. I also downloaded the Chrome browser. I was on the Internet using Chrome for several hours tonight (4 days after the purchase) and didn't see the notice once. Later, I went off Chrome and used Microsoft Edge browser and had the display message pop up once on Facebook when I was scrolling. I went back to using Chrome. I would recommend it to a friend, with the advice to be sure to download and install all the Windows 10 updates right away and to use Chrome browser instead of Microsoft Edge.

I ended up getting this laptop for $599! Any college student needs to sign up for the college deals coupons and by this laptop asap! It a great buy especially since it has good build quality. If your looking to upgrade, now is the time to do it. Only thing that im gonna do now is upgrade the hard drive to SSD since it will make it run alot smoother. Their an SSD on sale for $59.99 right now and it has 240 GB. Good luck finding them deals :)

    Exceptional Laptop For the Price

I got this laptop a few days ago. It's not the most powerful laptop on the market (having an i5 instead of an i7 chip) but it's absolutely powerful enough for my needs. I use it for PHP development, Skype, Web browsing (I have 7 tabs open in Chrome right now) and World of Warcraft. It's been great for all of these purposes so far. The touchscreen was a surprise, given the price, and it works well. (Keep the little cloth that comes with the machine, though. That screen is a fingerprint magnet.) Windows 10 works really well on it. It's snappy, no stutter that I can see, and I haven't had any problems so far. The one reason I can't give it a 5-star rating is because of the power button. Unlike every laptop I've ever seen, the power button for the machine is on the side, rather than above the keyboard. That's a minor annoyance, but it's noticeable. Overall, though, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a midrange laptop. It's a great machine so far!

Favorite feature was how easy it is to upgrade parts. In about 10 minutes, you can put in an SSD and go from 8GB to 12GB of ram. The battery can also be swapped. +Relatively lightweight (4.5 lbs) +Relatively thin (.87 inch) +Backlit keyboard +Nice battery life (7+ hours| +Bright, vibrant 1080p display +Convertible (tablet/presentation mode sometimes comes in handy) +Nice product line (Q501 and Q502 also got great reviews) +Study construction +Aesthetic design +Spacious keyboard with dedicated number pad (little to no flex) +USB type-C port +Absolutely silent (especially after SSD swap) +Boots in under 10 seconds (again, after SSD swap) -Finger print magnet -Had to re-install graphics driver and touch-pad driver (head over to ASUS support/download to find updated drivers) +-Decent speakers Overall, serves my purposes exceptionally well (web browsing, paper editing, and movie watching)

I purchased the Q503 November 10th for $799. Kicking myself as four days later the priced dropped by $100. I also considered a Toshiba, and two Lenovo models. I have extensive previous use of Asus Motherboards and found them reliable - a 12 year old one still runs a server for my brother-in-law. I had a must-have list: full HD screen, backlit keyboard, etc - the unit met all my requirements. I have already upgraded it - very easy with a Philips screwdriver and a guitar pick. Photos of the motherboard of the previous model showed a connector for a half height msata SSD card. This unit doesn't have that option. Put in a 1TB SSD and upgraded the RAM to 12GB (4GB on motherboard + 4GB removable stick in this configuration). For the most part I am very happy with the unit. I am experiencing minor issue with the trackpad being inoperative when unit awaken from sleep. Will try other user's suggestions. Yes, it a fingerprint magnet.

I bought this laptop at the recommendation of the store technician based on my needs. It is very comfortable to work on and I love the back-lite keyboard. It's easy to use and feels good under my hands. From the beginning though, it was slow and sluggish when more than one window was open. At the time I had a different internet carrier and thought that the issue. Not so. :( I have had to replace the plug 4 times. For some reason it becomes very loose and won't connect to charge. If you are going to use this laptop for document work, looking at Facebook or finding things online then you will have no issues at all. If you play games, run graphic software programs or stream, maybe this is not the computer for you.

Short and sweet: Out of all the other 2-in-1 laptops out there, this one is by far the most appealing, especially for the price. Pros: Beautiful design, Nice display, quick bootup (about 3 seconds), keyboard feels nice to type on, back lit keys, very responsive touch pad, battery life is decent, the bottom of the device has a nice smooth silicone-like texture, stays cool even while streaming movies in bed! >amazing! Cons: Software issues, Microsoft 10 pre-installed, like 5 windows notifications pop up with every boot up. Here's the long version: I want to explain this because I couldn't find any info about this issue a couple weeks ago...So I bought this laptop when there was only one review on here. This device is not available anywhere else so it was impossible to find any thing about anywhere. I checked it out in store and totally loved it. So, I get the laptop home, boot it up and am so stoked to have a nice laptop. Well, the first few hours of using it the display driver started crashing. While browsing the web on Microsoft edge the screen would flicker black and that stupid little notification would pop up saying the Display driver has stopped working but has recovered. Also, waking this thing up out of sleep mode was a nightmare. The screen would flash white and I would have to force shut it down. Because I loved everything else about this laptop so much, I did as much research online as I could within the fifteen day return period to try and fix the problem. Nothing worked. I was on the phone with Asus for several hours and nothing worked. By the 15th day, I decided it wasn't worth the stress and went back to best buy to return it. When I got there I spoke with Geek Squad to see if they had other customer issues like mine. They had never heard of this issue but because Best Buy is an authorized service provider for ASUS, they did a free over night diagnositc test. THANK YOU! Luckily, it was not a hardware issue, it was a software issue so they were able to fix the problem by updating the video driver (which we tried but it worked the 2nd time I guess!). Windows 10 is still kind of a pain but I'm sure another update will come out eventually and all will be better. I don't even use Microsoft Edge, I use Chrome. After all that, I can say that this laptop is amazing. If you can get past that one issue and fix it yourself or have geek squad help you, then I recommend it.

Bought an open box item had problems with it pretty quick. After it froze up on me 3 times, decided to return and purchase a different laptop. This Asus was a Consumer Reports recommendation, so I was very disappointed in this particular unit. Got an HP which is ok, some little things I'm not sure about with this one as well, will be checking in with Geek Squad when I have time. I usually don't have problems with open box items, but these two laptops, which i might add, where Geek Certified, are making me skeptical about further purchases.

I am having problems with powering up taking forever and having to restart computer a lot because it doesn't respond when I click on different tabs and such. Going to talk to the Geek Squad and see what's up. I wouldn't recommend at this time but will rewrite my review if Geek Squad is able to resolve issue.

I mainly got this computer to be a sit on the couch tablet and use it for photo editing and other work. It does everything. It's a good size for someone like me (6 feet tall) but if you are smaller or a child is using it, the tablet mode may be a bit much to handle. It's a nice weight to carry around. The screen is beautiful at 1080p resolution so perfect for photo editing and movie watching. The keyboard feels nice and not too cramped like other laptops. I did notice it can get pretty warm but too hot after heavy usage. It has a 6th gen i5 which is all you really need. i7 costs way more and has a little but more power but not so much that it warrants an extra couple hundred dollars. Has the intel HD 520 graphics which can play games 3-5 years old in your steam library nicely. There's plenty of RAM and HDD space that you'll be fine. $799 isn't a bad price considering ASUS is an excellent brand and makes quality computers. I highly recommend you get this computer.
