I bought this router to upgrade from a AX-82U and to future proof as I upgrade my router every 5 years and hopefully every 7-10 years with this router. I also use my previous router as a AiMesh node for extra coverage/emergency router (see below). Asus is very good about firmware updates and you can always opt out of stuff during initial setup. You can share info with Asus or choose not to, you just have to log in to router via desktop browser for best results.
A year later, during a power outage from rainstorm I rebooted the router to get it working but it ended up bricked with just power light blinking no matter what. So anyway, I had NOT purchased the BB warranty and was at the will and mercy of Asus. I called them and got a return authorized as I was still under manufacturers warranty. I had to pay for shipping to Asus, $25 but they ended up sending me a replacement unit of the non BB version of router. It took close to 3 weeks total process and in the meantime I used my "old" AX-82U as my main router after a quick reset, till I received the replacement RT-BE88U.
Get the warranty if you don't have a back up router or want to quickly replace it should something happen. This is my 3rd Asus router and they have always been great to deal with. The number of ports on the back means less switches running around and less cables.
After receiving the replacement I definitely notice how much zippier the internet is from the 82U going back to the BE88U so I know the money is going somewhere. I'm in a one story house so I get signal in all areas of home and yard (this includes 82U node). I currently only have 3 WiFi 7 devices so the full potential is yet to be unlocked until further evolution down the road and devices are upgraded. So far about 25+ devices in home, all butter smooth.

This router works, right out of the box. Absolutely no issues. I upgraded from my decade old RT-AC87U. It served very well considering it was putchased in 2014! This router is the exact same thing as the RT-BE88U. I dont know why Best Buy had to be different with the RT-BE7200 model number, but they are the same thing. It complicates price match because some people do not understand that they are the same, but its obvious. The router sets up very quickly with the asus app. You have to enable ipv6, security, etc, but everything worked fine right out of the box. Looks sleek and I really like that the heat dissipates ABOVE the device to the open air. Heat rises, great! Be sure to use the asus app to do the initial setup. One firmware upgrade and it’s smart to do that before optimizing the network, so thats great! High speeds, minus the 6Ghz band. Its fine, it just needed to replace the RT-AC87U and wow what an upgrade it is! Everytjing connected and i just turned off the extra IoT network, don’t need it. Maybe I’ll turn it back on for the other random IoT devices, but it probably wouldn’t work since its a separate network from your main network (similar to a guest network). This router gets the job done in all the ways that matter! So glad I now have a stable wifi connection at home once again!! Thank you ASUS!!

I used to have an RX-AX58U router, but it was causing me headaches due to signal interference from the second floor. However, with the newer RT-BE7200 router, my PC is finally achieving a stable 1GBPS connection! I should mention that I have a 1.2GBPS fiber plan.

Got the RT BE88U to replace a 4+ year old TP-L AX1800 router that stopped receiving updates a year and a half ago. My ISP plan is 800/20 Mbps, but was noted that 915 mbps down was possible, so most routers are overkill. I decided to futureproof a bit and went with a Wifi 7 router. We don't have any wifi congestion issues, so a router with better 5 Ghz/2.4 Ghz performance was most important to me. My old 1800 Mbps router, wirelessly, would get 650 Mbps, at best, close to the router. I'm getting 940 Mbps wirelessly through the BE88U. Setup was easy. Wish the app settings layout matched the browser UI. Some setting options cause the router disconnect and reconnect when you change them. Great security/protection/parental control options (no subscriptions needed), and Adblock is baked into the router. My house was built in the 1950s, so no wiring. Got my daughter a gaming laptop for Xmas, her bedroom is the furthest part of the house from the main router. I was using a mesh extender with the old router to cover that part of the house, but she was getting lagging/latency playing things like Roblox. Due to no wiring the BE88U is in the opposite corner of the house, so while 2.4 Ghz coverage was fine, I still needed to extend the coveage for that part of the house for the faster 5 Ghz speeds. I wanted to stay in the Asus BE family for AiMesh, but Asus' BE extender isn't out yet. I wanted something a little more robust than a extender anyway, so I also got an Asus RT BE58U router for the other side of the house. That solved my daughters issues, her bedroom now gets over 300 Mbps on 5 Ghz, whereas with the old router/extender it was getting just under 100 Mbps with a lot of latency. The only non-issue I've had is my kitchen gets around the same signal strengeth from both routers so when running a speed test I was still connected to the AiMesh node when I expected to connected to the main router. We'll be upgrading Wifi 7 capable phones over the next year, so I'll play around with those features then.

This router is awesome and very easy to setup, the app was user friendly. I was able to setup both network bands and guest network in less than 10 minutes. The range on this thing is amazing I could walk to my neighbors house and still have a strong signal

So far the easiest and best vs. price point we've tested to date for home use. Device, functionality, capabilities of this and the initial setup app is 100x better than the latest rendition of Netgear Nighthawk. Put its intelligence to the test by purposely plugging everything in and powering on in opposite sequence, and it performed the initial setup and grabed an IP from the ISP without one hiccup and proceeded to immediately reassign every LAN device, wireless and wired, with an IP. No errors, no glitches, no concerns.
In comparison, the buggy app for the Nighthawk we returned thinks the returned device is still online and connected to the internet. Clearly, if that Netgear was night this ASUS is day.
If stability becomes an issue, will modify review. Until then, grab one of these new ASUS and not their Nighthawk counterparts.
So far would also take this over the TP-Link WiFi 7 equivalent option as well, even considering this exact model does not have the 6Ghz band (which really isn't needed yet anyway).

I bought four of these routers to set up a network at our ranch. One is the main router and the others are set in access point mode. I previously had four older routers for this network until a bolt of lightning fried them all. I must say, despite spending money I hadn’t counted on spending due to the lightning strike, this setup works much better than its predecessor. Roku smart televisions in three buildings across the ranch all work wirelessly and very well. The range of the network is phenomenal and the signal can be picked up in a deer blind quite a distance from the house. The fenced in yard, about two acres, has full and powerful WiFi access. Outside the yard area the signal carries for about 2000 feet across the ranch, enabling me to use wireless cameras and a wireless internet controller on an electric fence. Setup was pretty easy once I figured it out, and I’m not the most knowledgeable about these things. This setup is much more powerful than one I have at another place which uses Google internet bridges. No complaints whatsoever.

First think I think to note is that there is no 6ghz band on this router…clearly says it in the description. I actually bought this because the 6ghz band doesn’t penetrate walls very well and there’s a lot of them to go through in our home. Instead this holds a very stable connect on the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands throughout our entire home. Coming off of an xfinity xb8 we went from barely any connection on the floors above to full strength. Asus has a great app and a lot great includes features. This will do WiFi 7 when anything supports it, but again no 6ghz band. That really shouldn’t matter for most people! The included ports give it some future proofing as well. Highly recommend!

This replaced a tired AC68 model that’s served us well for several years. We had 25 plus devices , including a number of nest cams which kept going offline because of weak signal. The BE7200 is a beast. NO MORE weak signal anywhere in the house. iPhone 15 pro max can consistently get 800-900mbps download speeds which is amazing for WiFi .

The Asus RT-BE7200 delivers features that met my needs. It was harder to completely set up all features and optimize performance of the router than expected, even though I was replacing an Asus router.
I purchased the Asus RT-BE7200 WiFi7 router to replace a 2016 Asus RT-AC3100 for my small (1700SF) single story townhome. I like the Asus router management web interface, and that Asus includes internet security features without a subscription. My needs were (1) upgrade WiFi speed and range, (2) have more than 4 Ethernet ports, (3) have support for dual ISP providers so I can transition from Spectrum cable to a high-speed fiber option (keeping two providers until the transition is stable), and (4) reach to WiFi 7 standards at a reasonable cost. I am a home user with moderate technical skills but no deep networking expertise.
I accept that the BE7200 does not include the 6Ghz band for WiFi, despite viewing the lack of the 6GHz band to be something less than 'full' WiFi 7. I can rely on the established dual bands of 2.4GHz and 5Ghz, which offer greater range than 6GHz. plus the BE7200 has performance features such as Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and 4K-QAM that I believe are part of the WiFi 7 and deliver advanced performance on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
The cost of the BE7200 was hundreds of dollars less (about 40% less) than a 'full' WiFi 7 router with the 6GHz band, and even greater cost savings compared to a 'Mesh System' of multiple router nodes. I hoped that the Asus RT-BE7200 router could handle my small home, and ultimately it does. If I need to create a Mesh network of multiple nodes, the BE7200 has that capability, but I wish to avoid adding more possible points of failure to my network.
Initial setup is fairly easy using the included Quick Start Guide and gets the router working. However, complete and optimized setup is arduous to achieve connection for all devices, to 'fix' decisions made by the Quick Start process, and to optimize performance. Asus does not appear to have a comprehensive 'User Guide' for this router, just the Quick Start Guide and many, many FAQ links on their support site. This could be an obstacle if you do not have experience with router setup, particularly Asus Router Setup.
After Quick Start I used the web browser Asus Router Manager to change key settings:
(1) the TCP/IP address of the router from 192.168.50.1 to match my old router's TCP/IP address of 192.168.1.1, which facilitated reconnection of devices in my network;
(2) the Security Authentication from WPA3-Personal chosen by Quick Start to WPA2/WPA3-Personal (a combination) to support my older devices that lack WPA3 capability;
(3) the guest network type, which had many unexplained options.
Of course I also updated the firmware to current levels.
Quick Start also created an 'IoT' SSID network that I don't believe I will need but have not yet deleted.
More details on the above elements are included below, after discussing performance.
Download performance was great at close range, and then I dealt with distance issues. Upon setup I immediately achieved 501Mbps Internet from a Windows 10 PC using Ethernet or using the 5Ghz WiFi band on my 500Mb Spectrum Cable plan. The previous Router (Asus AC3100) was rarely better than 200Mbps on the same plan.
I found that WiFi download performance was very sensitive to the WiFi band, to distance, and even to router/antenna orientation. For my Windows 10 high-performance laptop at different distances/range from the router, WiFi performance declines, then plummets "off a cliff," from 500Mbps per second at 5ft (5GHz band), to 450Mbps at 33ft (5GHz band), to 180Mbps at 40ft (PC auto-connected to 2.4GHz band at that range). Router relocation proved valuable to improve performance.
I first moved the BE7200 6 feet from original position to be near a door and hallway. I later rotated the router 90-degrees on the shelf to move antenna from wall-facing to doorway-facing. I also changed a Windows 10 Device Manager setting to 'Prefer 5GHz.' I achieved the download metrics I hoped to find (limited by my 500Mbps Spectrum internet service): 485Mbps download at up to 50ft on the 5GHz band after Router location, antenna orientation, and setting Windows Device Manager to 'Prefer 5GHz.'
Upload performance was not my focus, but I will note that it has been erratic, from highs near 20Mbps to frequent lows below 5Mbps. My prior Asus RT-AC3100 was much more consistently in the 20Mbps range.
Additional Setup information:
Detail, Router TCP/IP change: With many devices having a working connection to my old router, it was helpful for me to use Asus browser router management interface to change to the router TCP/IP to 192.168.1.1, matching my old router. The default TCP/IP established during Quick Start was 192.168.50.1.
Detail, Guest Network 'Portal': Quick Start created a 'Free' selection, which introduces a Splash Screen whenever a user connects, to establish terms and conditions for use of the Guest Network. This is fine for a business. For my home I was able to use the Asus browser management tools to choose 'None' for the type of Guest Network Portal, which eliminated the Splash Screen but still requires a password to connect. The default for Guest Network is the 2.4GHz band, which I will leave unchanged due to the greater range/distance of that band over the 5GHz band.
Detail, 'IoT' network after Quick Start: When I created my Network SSID, e.g. 'myNormalSSID', Quick Start automatically created an 'IoT' network SSID, i.e. 'myNormalSSID'_IoT. I do not yet understand the value of this SSID separate from (a) my SSID and (b) my Guest SSID. I expect to delete the 'IoT' network if I find no value. The 2.4GHz band was chosen by Asus for the 'IoT' network, and I would use that for the greater range/distance support.
Detail, Security Authentication changed after Quick Start selected WPA3-Personal: Many devices in my home do not support WPA3-Personal, and the web browser Asus manager allowed a change to 'WPA2/WPA3-Personal (a combination). In the process of making the change I had to disable MLO (Multi-Link Operation), which was a concern, but I was able to re-Enable MLO after choosing WPA2/WPA3-Personal. Note: It appears this 'combination' choice was just added to the BE7200 with the latest firmware upgrade - it pays to keep your devices up to date!

This is my first wifi7 router and was curious on how it would be considering that it was lacking wifi6. Pleased to say, it has performed very well. Coverage is somewhat increase over my Asus AX89X speed is increased and I have had little to no issues. It was extremely simple to set up, just like all the asus routers. It is paired in a mesh network with the AX89x and the only issue (not really an issue) was when I tried to set up MLO. Ihad read online that the AX89x was capable of MLO. Well that was wrong and therefore the connection caused some interruption of the network as the AX89X was NOT capable of running MLO.
As stated, I have had no issues and would definitely recommend the BE7200 (I believe this is a BE88U just in a Best Buy exclusive numbering).

Money well spent. 4 x 2.5gb ports 4 x 1gb ports 10gb wan plus 1 sfp port for 10GB. Using ax router was onlu getting 650-750mb on a 1gb connection upgraded to this and immediately hit 1011mb immediatly wanted another for a whole home mesh network. Be careful because WPS3 security isnt availiable on some devices like firestick so you will need to swap it to wps2 personal. I was having issues with AX router buffering and picture quality fluctuating between 1080p and 480p and 4k didnt want to work at all on main tv. This router fixed the issue.

Was sick of dealing with split mesh systems so i opted for a better single router and it works great. I put this in my closet in the center if the home on the second floor and I get coverage in and all around without issues. I opted to convert to Merlin custom firmware and im glad i did, performs much faster and consistent. The software is super responsive and everything is better than expected. Great value. I dont need the 6Ghz band but still use with Wi-Fi 7 devices and get well over 1000MB/s downloads.

This router is a surprise for sure. The amount of settings that can be changed is awesome. I was able to set it up exactly the way i wanted. Gaming feels faster than the netgear rs700 and the tp link be800. I went to this router because my rs700 started having internet drops. This Asus router has more bells and whistles but is still pretty user friendly for people who want an easy setup. Multi gig ports and fast wifi. I am able to get all 1.4gbps from my isp in my living room. The router also sets a unique ip address for devices as opposed to just stacking from 1,2,3, etc. Asus hit the nail on the head with this one, and my gameplay on Black ops 6 agrees.
