Do not buy this unless you enjoy frustration

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This router is great when it works, but it constantly drops not only Interent but all 3 bands, to the point that they are not even found by any devices. This is my 3rd Asus router. I had my previous model meshed with two older models and it seemed to work pretty well iver the last 5 years. I will say, however, I had similar issues with it initially, but after customizing a few settings, the drops went away. I tried to do the same with this one but had no luck. Of course, I'm only a few days past thr return period. I just bought a few Unifi Express 7s and they have been rock solid..shoild have done this from the start.

Read - Don't Buy!

Switched back to my old Asus router and no problems at all. The router software is buggy! The router literally would stop passing traffic and have to be manually be rebooted, and sometimes it was every day or somes several times a day. I haven't had to reboot my older Asus router even once. Is it possible once they update the firmware that it will work better, but right now wouldn't buy this router even on sale if you want a dependable router. And don't believe that it is a hardware issue but a software issue.

Best Value WiFi 7 Router and its Asus

There were three firmware updates in February that have resolved all of the issues. The cores are running optimally and no reboots needed! For the price of $212.99 (on sale, this is a steal to get a wifi7 router, check out the review of this from Dong Knows. His review is spot on!

After about 9 months, the 2.4 ghz band stopped working and I lost all connection to all my 18 smart devices. I spent over 3 hours in total with Asus "tech support" and no resolution. They said to box it up and send it in for a warranty repair.. yeah like that's gonna work. This thing is going in the garbage.

Slower Wi-Fi speeds & internet outages

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the RT-BE92U Wi-Fi 7 router for almost 2 weeks and it has been extremely frustrating using the internet during this time. The router randomly reboots on occasion and causes internet outages too often. I have rebooted the router and made sure the firmware was up to date. However, the issues persisted. My previous Netgear Wi-Fi 6 AX5200 router also provided faster Wi-Fi speeds at least on the upload side than this router and did not have any random disconnect or internet outages caused by it. I am returning this terrible product and Asus really needs to recall this product or figure out what the heck is wrong with it. There are other reviews out there saying the same thing after doing more research, and I will not buy another Asus networking product and stick with Netgear.

I had the fios people out, my connection is good, gotta be the router, right? So I put this one in and I have other problems, most of which are inconsistent connections with my wireless items in the house. Computers, Xbox, switches, iPhones, you name it, inconsistent connections. It's not even that old, but I've already had to factory reset it two times because it was completely frozen! Expensive garbage that I cannot return now. I'm not happy with ASUS and I will not be purchasing this brand in the future.

To resolve this, if you are connecting legacy devices, these may not work properly with WIFI-6 and WIFI-7, please check updates for these device. Also, try connecting this manually to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Also we recommend updating the router's firmware if running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at: https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/wifi-7/all-series/asus-rt-be92u/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=ASUS-RT-BE92U. Additionally, check ifthe router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired by a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. I forgot to grab the one I had when I moved, so it got left behind, but definitely wanted to order the same one for my new place. You can create different networks on this router to support new devices, and older devices. I just wish 2-gig fiber was available where I live now, but I’ll just have to settle for 1-gig for now.

Updated the firmware several times, need to reset 2-3 times per day to get the Asus app working on a Pixel phone. Too bad past the return window.

To resolve the unstable connection, verify if the PC or device connecting to the router is within range to the router, the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. Legacy devices may not work properly with WIFI-6E or WIFI-7, please check updates for these devices. Also, try to disable "Smart Connect" and try connecting these manually to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Furthermore, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration.

Poor firmware or bad design or both?

It frequently reboots or drops all WIFI connections and has to be rebooted, as others have stated in the BB reviews and in ASUS forums. ASUS has been releasing firmware updates almost monthly and the reboots are less frequent but still happen several times a week. Maybe it's just a firmware bug and eventually they will work it out, but at this point I cannot recommend this router to anyone. For $200+, I expect better quality control from a name brand company like ASUS.
