RIPOFF! RIPOFF!

After only about one month of use the bluetooth stopping working. In the process of trying to get it working somehow it required a bios password. Until then, I had never even heard of a computer with a bios password. I had no memory of it asking for anything called a bios password when setting it up so didn't know the password. To get it fixed I had to send it back to ASUS for them to replace the hard drive. They said resetting the bios password was not covered under the warranty. They charged me almost as much as I paid for the computer. I have had several ASUS but will NEVER buy another one.

Diminished Audio

It isn't the type of laptop we'd usually get. A few months in and the audio has become almost inaudible.

Bluetooth Keeps Disappearing

The bluetooth keeps disappearing and the computer says that bluetooth device is not connected. From what I have been reading, my only option, after everything else I've tried, is to replace the Bluetooth device inside the laptop. More money spent and time I don't have right now. I have to use this laptop to work from home and cannot afford to lose time or the money. I am pretty ticked.

Do understand your disappointment with the quality of the product and the inconvenience this may have caused you if you are having issues or difficulty with Bluetooth connection.
In order to resolve the Bluetooth connection related issue, please make sure the Bluetooth battery has ample amount of charged life and device is powered on, and working properly.
To setup, please select the Start button > type Bluetooth > select Bluetooth settings from the list. Turn on Bluetooth > select the device > Pair. Please follow instructions in order to connect successfully. Also, please make sure WINDOWS is current with feature or cumulative updates.

Battery Problem

Certainly understand your concern about the short battery life. The approximate battery life is 5 hours.
In order to improve or prolong the battery charged time, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the system, without the AC adapter connected, and drain it completely again. Please repeat the charging process thereafter.
Also, please verify if the unit is running with the most current system update and third-party battery draining applications are not running if not in used.

Good for students, fair price

Thanks to the i7 processor it can run basic games, but don't expect too much as it's not designed for that. After 5 years I can tell that's still in good condition, but it has some software glitches, the bluetooth and touchpad tend to fail over time.

We're sorry to hear about the issue you you're having with the speed on this model. Please allow us to make your experience with ASUS a better one. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does.
What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are fully installed.

Great price for specs

Build quality overall is very good, does not feel cheap. I have no issue seeing the keys and if you normally type without looking it really is not a big deal. Sound is pretty good too and its wifi range is great. i7, fhd, 12gb, 256 ssd great specs for $500 black friday deal. Even without the sale honestly the base price of this laptop is very good. Every ASUS laptop i've had has been great and worked for years; sure this one will be the same!

Very difficult to use keyboard

In the night light, keys are difficult to identify. Asus should give an overlay template with black lettering to overcome this defect.

Nothing special, cheap, low quality display

Just got it today and it was just sad.. the quality of a display is very low, it's not bright at all, no keyboard backlighting. Returned it yesterday and I couldn't get a full refund because I got charged for Micro internet security that was included for $0 now they charging $60 for a thing I cant use... that is crazy... very disappointed...

The screen resolution is Full HD, adjusting the brightness level, using the hotkey, usually enhances viewing quality and experience. Also, tweaking the preference inside the Display Properties does improve the resolution.
The product was not advertised hacing a backlit keyboard.

a false economy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The specs make this look like a good deal, but once you get your hands on it you quickly realize where the corners were cut. cheap plastic case and keyboard. glitchy touchpad often confuses scrolling and zooming which is super annoying. screen started glitching right after the return period ended requiring repair. only reason to buy this would be if you dont intend to use it as a laptop and plug it into a decent keyboard/mouse/monitor setup.
