ASUS - VivoBook 15 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - 256GB Solid State Drive

This is a solid laptop. The build is nice, it's fairly light, and looks pretty sleek overall. I've had no issues browsing, streaming videos, running any programs, or multitasking on this computer so far! However, I will have to second what another reviewer said: the keyboard on this thing is remarkably difficult to see. If you're in anything but absolutely perfect lighting, you won't be able to see the letters or symbols on the keys, and it's not backlit. This shouldn't be a big problem if you're familiar with your keyboard and know how to type without looking, but I will say it is aggravating nonetheless. Another thing I will add is that it's hard to see the screen from any angle except straight on; I have to adjust it to just the perfect angle every time I shift or move. This also isn't a big deal but it's another thing that's just a bit aggravating. I paid $500 for this thing on a Black Friday sale and I don't know if I'd pay more than that for this machine, but for that price range it performs very well. Despite the small imperfections in design that I mentioned, I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm still glad I chose this computer over others in the $500 range.

Nice laptop for the price (got mine on sale for $550) but with the Transparent Silver color it is very hard for me to see the letters, number, symbols on the keyboard keys. Unless the lighting and your viewing angle is perfect the keys look like a glare of silver. This laptop comes in other colors but unfortunately only the Transparent Silver color was on sale (probably the reason it was on Sale)! I would recommend a Laptop color that has a Black keyboard with white lettering.

I owned this laptop for about 24 hours and it plenty enough time for me to determine that it was an extraordinary pile of junk. The video display performance is very poor, but the most egregious flaw is the keyboard which has lettering that nearly matches the exact color of the keys themselves. If you look straight down at the keyboard from about 6 inches, you can see the lettering. As soon as you sit back in your chair it all disappears and you're left gazing at a sea of gray keys which all look the same. I can't imagine what Asus was thinking when they designed this thing.

Purchased on Nov 28, 2019. On April 25, 2021 noticed that the right side hinge of the display - inside screws are snapped off from grommets inside the panel. Now cannot close the display. Repair shops suggest to replace the back panel for close to 335$ estimate. Not worth spending 500$ for only a life of less than 1 year 5 months. This laptop has not fallen or mishandled.

I needed an updated laptop, as my previous Asus was 6 years old. I love the Asus brand, and this laptop has held up to my standards! the only negative aspect of the laptop was that I noticed after only having it for a few days there were some scratches on the bottom of the laptop. I do travel with my laptop, but I keep it in the laptop pocket of a backpack with nothing else inside, so I am unsure how these scratches developed. It does seem apparent that the laptop scratches easily, so I bought a laptop case/cover (a soft one, not a plastic one) and it has protected it from scratches. Besides the scratches the laptop is fantastic. It is very fast, the keyboard it nice, and the screen is amazing! Its not a typical screen that will have a glare when other light it shining on it. It is a very soft screen, almost like a kindle screen, but not exactly. I am extremely happy with my purchase!!!

Fast! Oh and did I mention...FAST!! It’s a Workhorse and a computing pleasure to use for any task. Light and thin. I like the Matte screen more than I believed I would. Dedicated charger is rugged enough too. Design is wonderful for flat surface because screen lifts the body up for airflow and enhanced screen viewing. Asus quality is always the best. A small element that makes a wonderful difference. Ok, get this there is NO back-lit keyboard. I knew this when I purchased it but thought I would give it a try. If the letters on the keys were black instead of laser etched maybe this would not be so aggravating. I use a multiple of machines so keeping up with key placement gets aggravating at times. High contrast labels do help but you better label them all. I would buy it again. Actually, if it had back-lit keyboard available, I would buy the same laptop NOW and it’s over a year later. I love how light and fast this laptop is. It meets all my expectations. The only thing I don't is the keyboard only because the colors of the letters blend in with the silver so without direct light it is hard to see what your typing. This is my first Asus and I look for

Loving this laptop--ease of functions, lightweight, fairly fast. Love the feel of the keyboard. HOWEVER, seeing the letters on the keys is horrible, unless you're viewing from a certain angle. Don't know what ASUS was thinking on that one! It's not a huge problem for me as I know my way around a keyboard very well...just an inconvenience. Also would be nice if keys were backlit. Overall, great computer, so far! I would purchase again.
