    Great router

Replaced my Linksys E2000 N-router with this one. Dramatic improvement in speed and range! Linksys could not get over 12 Mbps rate even when the other device (phone, computer) is just few feet away, and rate dropped to 3-5 bps at 20 feet. For my 3-level large house that was a real drawback... This one gets >30 Mbps (my service is currently 30 Mbps) throughout the house even with N-devices (at 5 GHz), signal strength is very high everywhere (old router's signal dropped to one bar in may areas in the house). My smart TV with AC-wireless now can stream any HD movie from Media server, no need for wired connection.

    Excellent Apple Extreme Replacement

I'm an Apple person, but my five year old Extreme needed replacement. Apple's new Airport Utility hides 90% of the device's configuration options, and I like to tinker. The RT-AC68P is FAST, has great range, explicitly supports Time Machine with any hard drive, makes it easy to bind IP's to specific MAC addresses which avoids many printer (and my DirecTV receivers') reconnection headaches, you can share hard drive resources over the Internet, and adds multiple levels of security and safety. Highly recommended for Apple users who want additional features and more control over their network.

Used this product over several to chose from. Great support when needed. Needed a bit more range for my outbuildings than what this unit can offer. Overall, it does what is promised.

HANDS DOWN - THE BEST ROUTER

I have tried multiple routers....and this has been the most impressive yet. Coverage exceeded expectations and I am in a 3500 sq ft home. This replaced my DLINK router which barely kept up with all of my wireless devices, constantly buffering video streamed over wireless. I plugged this router in, and it was like night and day performance. I had multiple video streams, downloads, and other stuff going at the same time over 2G and 5G bands and this router never missed a beat. It was almost as if everything was wired via ethernet - YES, IT IS THAT GOOD!!! I did not believe all of the hype either and took the plunge and BOY am I ever impressed. GREAT ROUTER - ASUS!!! Now, I am hoping when I get a 4K UHD TV and start streaming 4K content via wireless ac that I will be singing the same song, time will tell, but for now...this is HANDS DOWN THE BEST ROUTER TO OWN FOR A 2 STORY HOME WIRELESS NETWORK SETUP - GO GET IT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!

    Finally

I'm as highly critical of wifi products as anyone can be. Two teenagers in a large house with a home office. I've upped my COX internet speed and purchased range extenders and boosters a half dozen times. I play PS3 online to relax and the unit is a far away from the router as possible. Before buying this unit, everyone was complaining about the lack of reliability with gaming, streaming, general internet. I called COX and threatened to cancel. The tech told me to enter: www.speedtest.net to check the speed, both with and without my old router in place. He said, "Your router is old, and it's bottlenecking your speed we're sending to you." Off to Best Buy I went and bought this ASUS with high hopes and had it set up within minutes. Speedtest revealed that my down load speed is now 30X faster than it was before, now at 112 Mbps! Instantly gaming became more enjoyable and the complaints stopped. The real evidence? I accidently left the PS3 on after playing Madden on line Saturday afternoon. Came back Sunday, nearly 24 hours later, to find that I WAS STILL CONNECTED TO THE PS3 NETWORK! Unbelievable. And worth every dime. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Over all this router has been solid and serviceable. The main issue is most of the useful features require data to be sent to a third party (TrendMicro) which isn't exactly privacy friendly. One could load third party firmware on it but that shouldn't be the case. Really a let down to an overall solid router.

    A Fantastic Router

I've owned several wireless routers in my day, and this router is simply the best one I've ever used. I've had absolutely no issues with this device. Speed and range are fantastic. I have used almost every function of this router with no issues, such as IPv6, VPN, Port Forwarding, remote administration and others. I have an advanced smart home set up and have had no issues there either. I have a 4K TV and I stream 4K content with absolutely no issues. I know I sound like a broken record but I want everyone to know just how awesome this router is. Spend the money and get this router!

My Netgear WNDR4500 router that I had been using for a couple years was starting to act flaky, so I decided it was time to upgrade. This is my first ASUS router, and all I can say is that I am now a convert for life. This thing is simply amazing! I'm getting blazing fast speeds, and the range is phenomenal. In fact, I'm getting better range from the 5GHz band on this router than I was on the 2.4GHz band with my old router. For the first time ever, I'm able to peg the needle on speed tests and take full advantage of my ISP's 125 Mbps download speeds. The unit was very easy to set up, and it features an intuitive interface. I'm using it strictly in access point mode, since I already have another device on my network that is handling all the routing. I have no doubt, however, that the ASUS would be very capable in this regard. The ASUS RT-AC68P is a fantastic product that I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a router/access point with great range and a robust feature set.

Beat apples air extreme hands down

I'm one not wanting to go back to the store to change stuff while it is being installed and it not work as I expect. I bought both the asus 1900 and the air extream. I ran speed test and range test. Asus beat Apple in range and speed. Keep in mind I have all Apple products 3 iPhones, 4 iPads, 1 Big Mac, Apple TV, and two Xbox consoles. The range test Asus beat Apple by more than 10 feet. The speed test Apple could not get over 41 MB wirelessly . While l the Asus had no problem getting over 50 MB speeds wirelessly When I only pay for Fifty. I do have the Motorola/arris 16X's faster modem too. So get rid of your combo setup from the cable company and split your system. Now this is only a first day test. I will check back and let you know how stable it is!

    Great all-around wireless router!

This router has performed well for me for the last year. Wireless coverage for my whole house (2000 sq.ft.), and no problems getting strong wireless on 5GHz. at the furthest points in my house from the router. IPv6 also works well with my Comcast ISP, using dual-stack. And fast and smooth on the wired connections. I have 3 wireless-1900ac routers, and this one is a strong contender for the best.among them. I recommend this wireless router for anyone looking for a top quality, great performing wireless-1900ac router. I highly recommend using RMerlin's version of Asus official firmware. Currently using 378.56_2, and this version is the best yet. RMerlin adds features and fixes bugs, and makes the somewhat sloppily written Asus firmware really work well. He is making a real contribution to the quality and usability of this router.

    Quite impressed

I have to admit one thing - I've used quite a few routers lately (meaning I've taken them back). I had a Netgear R7500 (I sort of liked that one but it kept rebooting so I attempted to exchange it. WalMart wouldn't honor their Black Friday sale even though my requested EXCHANGE was within the ninety days; they wanted me to pay the additional $100 that it now costs (needless to say I returned it and here I am). I then purchased a Linksys EA6900 and then a Linksys WRTAC1200. What I thought would be a great router (Linksys WRT1200AC) had "Prioritization" which I didn't like and really didn't seem to work very well. I did upgrade the firmware to Open Source DD-WRT but then realized that WPS wouldn't work and because my networking skills aren't strong enough I couldn't get it to recognize my Linkysys Wi-Fi Extender. This is sad considering it is (or isn't, /cough now owned by Belkin) the same company. The process should be easier, especially when they promote and advertise this router as allowing open source firmware. Shame on me for not doing more research..... I've since settled on this gem and I couldn't be happier. I love this router, the UI is fantastic once you learn it (some things are embedded pretty far in, but for a reason I'm sure) and the mobile app is equally as great. The range is fantastic - I'm getting 37 down (my max available) in the far bathroom opposite corner, upstairs). What I'm most impressed is the documentation that came with it - not the manual really because that's pretty simple, but the PDF file and corresponding links is truly well written. Bravo.

I wanted to like this. It had an easy set up and a cool sleek look. However, 12 days later it was a dud. Had to take it back. It just stop working and would not turn back on. Glad it was in time before the 15 day return policies best buy has in affect. If your going to get one of these router please get the extended warranty. Its too much money to take a gamble on how long it will last.

Super router, pricey but I doubled the range of my previous one, I have 5G (for limited distance) and did not have to reset it once since purchased. No more dropped internet, stopped streaming in the middle of a movie, do I need to keep going on? Highly recommended. My extender router started working with it too for the basement corners and the upstairs corner rooms.

I have had Netgear and Linksys routers and needed to upgrade to an AC router. After reading the reviews of many different brands I decided to go with ASUS. The setup was so easy and I love the web interface. I have not had streaming issues since I installed it. I ran speedtest before and after the install and I am now getting the speed I am paying for on all devices - wired and wireless. I love this router - so far...
