It is overkill; but hey, it's futureproofing (assuming you don't abuse the cable). I got this long one for my computer to connect to my LG OLED TV's (the new one) eARC port.

This cable has improved my picture and sound quality above expectations

I had cheaper cables that only passed my HDR and Dolby Vision signals for a short while. I have had this happen before. Its not just 1's and 0's
