    Wifi Connect set up needs major fix

    Installing the smart deadbolt was very easy with the August app showing step by step instructions. After the smart deadbolt was installed, i tried to connect it to Connect wifi bridge that came included in the box. I kept getting some error message that told me nothing about what is causing the error. I somehow got it to connect after about 10 tries, but this was very frustrating.

    I works OK, no camera considered its high price. The only thing I like is that I can unlock it from a distance.

    The lock works great but about 2 months in the connect died. Called August and it was such a process to replace it I have up.

    Apple Airpods Prevent Auto-Open Function

    Installed August Smart Lock Pro a week ago and have been unable to get the lock to auto-open when I approach the door (the most valuable feature to me). After talking to August support today, I was unbelievably told that my Airpods is interfering with the auto-open function and if I want the lock to function normally, I would have to turn off the Airpods! WOW. Just about the lamest thing I have ever heard. Bluetooth has a wireless standard and apparently the August Smart Lock is NOT smart enough to filter outside Bluetooth signals and work as expected. I also own an Apple Watch with a more powerful Bluetooth signal but support assured me for the record he is only naming the Apple Apple Airpods as the root cause of my problem. Nowhere is this mentioned in their advertising or by the BestBuy rep who sold it to me. I am going to return it immediately this lock and write off all the time, effort and energy I put into this inferior product. I recommend you save your money and time by not purchasing the August smart lock.

    It worked well until we got an updated router..... Also had the connect. So thinking something was wrong with the lock I returned it got a new one. Same issue I even called tech support and they couldn't figure out why my connect wouldn't work. Hoping the newest one will work. I liked it while it worked at first. :(

    This was the 2nd August lock I bought. After the first one failing a year prior, I thought they had updated the product. Bought it for my sons apartment and had Best Buy do the install. Lock never worked properly so spoke to August. They sent new parts and I had a professional locksmith install it again. After 31 days, no kidding, the mechanism no longer worked and we were out of warranty. Called August and they wanted to chat online. No opportunity to return or replace it. What a waste of money and time. Ended up buying a Schlage system (should have done that in the first place.). Avoid this company. If there are any problems over 30 days, they won’t warranty.

    I was excited - all the reviews were great for this is all the online tech blogs. The reality - it simply doesn't work. The lock was within 4 feet of the wifi hub. The wifi hub was within three feet of my Eero mesh network router. Could I connect reliable with the app? Nope - perhaps 25% of the time. When I spoke to August tech support, they said to move the hub so it points at the lock. Seriously? Bottom line is that for me, this didn't work. At all. I swapped it out for a Kwikset Kevo and am completely satisfied.

    At first this lock worked great. It was convenient having the lock unlock as you came home and lock after you left. But recently after having it for 5 months something changed and now it somehow senses that my door is always open. Even with the door closed and the deadbolt locked. I’ve tried reaching out to August support and they’ve been less than helpful. They must be somewhere overseas because their emails get sent to me at like 2 in the morning. And then when I respond it’s nothing for another 12 hours. I knew there was a reason I was hesitant on getting a smart lock. If you’re still going to get one, I suggest a different company than August.

    This thing appeared to be so cool. It get gritty in the store and I figured it was because people had played with it too much. Want to Know why this is garbage? The motor that powers the latch is so weak that if your latch and the catch are not completely lined up (and I mean perfectly) the moment the latch makes contact with anything barely blocking the way it will not work. I left the house several times only to discover the lock never engaged. The app said otherwise. People opening my front door proves it. I just cannot recommend this.

    A smart lock that out of the box only really works with 4 different (obscure) lock manufacturers. All of the national (US) brands will require adapters (ordered separately) and technical support as the diagrams that come with the unit leave a lot to be desired. All in all, I had it for one day. After realizing it wasn’t ready for prime time, and dealing with their tech (Language barriers the size of Montana, & that’s when you’re not cycled through the call queue several times requiring multiple call backs) the entire experience left me more than comfortable with a regular “old” lock and key.
