Q: How long do the batteries last. My wife has a daycare and wants to keep front door locked but give parents access when they want to come in the home. Will the lock handle 15-20 unlocks/locks a day? and how long would the batteries last?

A: Absolutely it could handle 10-20 locks/unlocks a day or more. The batteries that came in it didn't last long but since I replaced with new duracell batteries it's been over a couple of months and with myself and 2 children we easily lock and unlock it 20 times a day.The August will tell you when the batteries a getting low as well. Hope this helps. You wont be disappointed in the purchase.

Q: Nobody seems to know the answer to my question?? Will the August smart lock pro & connect work on my house in mezcales nayarit Mexico from my home in Seattle Washington or do I need to buy the product from that city which would be from Telmex.

A: If you have an Internet connection in Mexico and you are in the US or anywhere in the world you should be able to check it, open it or lock it.

Q: I would like a smart lock for my garage door, but it is very thick. I had purchased a bio-metric lock, and it couldn't be installed due to the thickness of the door.How thick can the door be and still be able to install the lock?

A: Any thickness. It utilizes the existing deadbolt hardware for the exterior of the door. You just replace the inside piece with a metal plate and then the lock slips on and lock it place with arms that you push down.

Q: I am connecting it to an Amazon Alexa. Apparently this is the only device that can LOCK using Alexa. All others can only unlock. What are some ups and downs? Does it run smoothly? Can it lock using Alexa echo voice command?

A: We use Alexa to lock and also unlock. Ours runs very smoothly and quietly. Only thing I wish it did was auto lock when you are in away status.

A: You CAN issue codes via your smartphone, as long as you have the "August Connect" device plugged in, which communicates via WiFi to your router. (Without the "August Connect" you'd have to rely on Bluetooth only, which has a very narrow range for connection.) By purchasing the August Connect (or the August Smart Lock Pro + Connect) you will be able to assign codes remotely. The previous answer was incorrect.

Works as promised!
The August Smart Lock was easy to install. It works well with Siri HomeKit and Alexa. I find the Apple Watch app finicky as to when it wants to work. I have been able to lock and unlock successfully using Siri through the Apple Watch. I especially like the auto lock feature. The only advice I can give is if you have to remove the device from your door for any reason, make sure you remove a couple of the batteries to power it down before you reattach to your lock. If you don’t, it will tell you the lock is jammed. I discovered that when I had to get my door refinished.

Great product
Although skeptical, after several weeks, I find the AUGUST smart lock to be just what we needed. Note that there may be occasions when your door does not line up properly with the dead bolt. This will take time to adjust; (weather conditions also attribute to the door 'sticking'. Note it is NOT the unit. once you have identified the correct sleeve which adjusts to your existing unit, you are on your way. the app works great. BE MINDFUL that if you do not have your phone with you and decide to go out of the door, well, you may be looking for another way back inside if you have the auto lock on feature on. Overall, very pleased with this unit. Works well with Alexa. Did not use the screws to mount the sensor. If you use only the adhesive sticker that comes with the unit, it should be sufficient if you are concerned with putting holes into the door frame. Nice feature is that from the outside the existing hardware remains the same so you are able to maintain the original key lock.

Measure for your own sanity
Setup was remarkably easy, made more challenging by myself not measuring anything. I should’ve looked at the size of the lock to ensure it would fit, instead I ended up having to Dremel out some metal siding on the door to get the unit flush and allow the wings to close. Entirely on me and not necessarily a fault of the device.
