Many appreciate its compatibility with various smart home systems and the ability to remotely access and monitor the lock. However, some users find the lock's size to be a drawback, and concerns about battery life have also been raised. The price point is considered high by some customers.

Don’t buy. Lock begins jamming a few months later. Then it becomes difficult to open with physical key.

Positives: 1) ability to control when not at door and away from home 2) installation is not overly complicated and uses existing deadbolt 3) easy to use app 4) smart integration to Google Home was easy to set up 5) lock is well constructed - motor is powerful Negatives: 1) lock calibration took several adjustments as my original deadbolt did not sit perfectly 2) commands do not always work immediately when away from lock 3) even after calibration, lock will report a jam when there is no jam 4) AA batteries need to be changed more than some of my kids toys

My dead bolt (defiant) was on the list that was supposed to work, but the three little adapters inside did not fit. Unfortunately I had to go purchase another lock (Kwikset). With the new dead bolt the install was very easy and only took about 10 minutes. We did a few tests yesterday and it works like a charm. When I left my house I got a notification that it locked. When I got a home I got a nice notification welcoming me home and my door was unlocked. Very nice and convenient. I used to have the Kevo lock and it was just garbage. I am very happy with this one.

I was on the fence between this and a Kevo Smart Lock. I went with the August because I really didn't want to replace my key lock and my tumbler. It was relatively easy to install (though it would be nice if they included instructions rather than having to download the app to my phone first to get them) and it works as expected. It has worked flawlessly since install. I love not having to fumble for my keys when I am coming home from work with an armful of gear I'm carrying. The only real issue I had was adding another owner to my account - the app is a little annoying with that but I assume it has something to do with making sure it's secure.

Smart lock, but not smart enough

Disappointed! First of all, it doesn't fit well with Baldwin Estate series lock (they have it in the compatibility list though). Baldwin screws are either too long or August inside adapter is too thin for this series locks. With normal installation, it will push the lock key outer cover out of the lock (visible from outside, complete bummer). I found a solution for that by adding a 1/8" spacer between the door and August adapter. In this case, August will be away from the door surface by little over 1/8". This is ugly, but manageable. The worst part comes to August connect. I have a lot of smart home devices connected to my network. I am network guy myself and I make sure my home network is smoothly working all the time. August Connect takes forever to connect remotely. I can access all my smart devices remotely in less than 5 seconds. August connect takes almost one minute to initiate a connection. Also the app won't recognize if you are outside your home network, you need to tap the remote icon within app to initiate remote connection, which makes it longer to connect which I consider as an insult to injury. Within home network, if I ask Amazon Echo about my lock status, it takes pretty much 45 seconds to get an update where as within network it should be instant. August connect was within 10ft of the lock and with 100% wireless coverage, just in case if any one judges it is my network. Sadly, I had to return the unit. Hopefully they will improve remote connectivity in the future and I might re-think if no other smarter lock system available by the time.

I purchased my August Smart Lock almost a year ago, after my old door lock master code went missing so it was not able to be changed, and too many people had access to my home. I figured cost wise August had the better starting price, and decent reviews. I started with just the lock itself and immediately realized I would need the Connect to get the most from the lock. I then purchased the keypad as well, becasue my daughter had issues when trying to access the house with the app, and figured if anyone ever forgot their phone the keypad would be a great alternative. This was a great option and all went well. The battery life is not the greatest for the actual lock and I probably had to replace the batteries every 6 weeks or so, but I have children who are constantly on the go. The keypad batteries last about 2.5 months before requiring a change. Trying to set up the Connect was a bit aggravating because no matter how close you get to the actual lock, it has a hard time connecting, even when I used an extension cord and placed the connect directly behind the door with the lock. However, even that challenge was eventually overcome. Fast forward to today, when it was raining heavily and for whatever reason the lock ceased to work. The keypad wouldn't connect and the app showed the lock had disconnected. I am in NY my house and kids are in NC, locked out. No one can connect to the lock, so I called August Support. I was advised that the lock is offline (DUH!) and they are not sure why it won't connect. I understand that I should have had a spare key hidden somewhere, but the point is to avoid giving unwanted people access to my property. When I asked him if there anything they can do, the response was simply, "No, we are sorry you are having this issue." Well, I won't be having this issue again, as I will be returning the lock, keypad and connect to Best Buy this weekend, and trying a different brand. They could have saved the sale with better customer service, at the very least offered to replace the unit. Luckily I purchased the warranty from Best Buy.

Easy setup, simple to use. My family loves it

I initially purchased a Yale x Nest smart lock but exchanged it for an August Pro Lock I realized I wanted the option to still use a key since I'd still have my key on me since this key works for 2 other doors in my house. Same price, more options, why not. Installation was super easy. You'll have to download the app or go online for the instructions but it's still really easy to do. Setup after installation was easy as well, some waiting to do while everything connects but it's still easy, just some patience required. *note* My router is 2 floors up and towards the opposite of the house and yet the connect device as door lock is still able to sustain a 'good' connection. Also, I initially plugged in the connect device as close as I could to the lock but the signal wasn't that great, I move it over to an outlet about 3 ft farther and it was perfect connection. I wont go over the many ways to lock and unlock this device since it's all in the description but I will say that we are completely satisfied with our new August - Smart Lock Pro + Connect

    Overall great

First off make sure your deadbolt closes easily. If you have to push, pull, or lift the handle to get your lock to close - get out your file and fix this before you even think about getting this lock. After that instalation is a breeze. The reason for only 4 stars is because the WiFi bridge is very finicky about signal, but once it is set up it has worked great.

Awesome lock, works with Alexa. When I get home it unlocks the door, I come in it locks the door behind me. Whole family loves this. Plus, you can give friends access to house remotely or permission to get in right from the app. 10 stars from this household. It works GREAT and was SIMPLE to install.

Loved it while it lasted. Then the lock kept jamming whole I was out of town. Drained the battery and corroded the lock until it wasn't usable. Tried cleaning and replacing batteries. No luck. It's dead

    Has auto unlock problems

The hardware works fine. It will unlock with the app as long as the batteries are good. I had a pair of batteries fail with no warning so make sure you have your key on you! Aside from that,.my main issue is that the auto unlock will not reliably function with my phone. I have repeatedly reported the problem to august but they seem unwilling or unable to fix this problem. So if you don't mind taking out your phon to unlock the door then maybe this is the product for you. If you want auto unlock to b reliable, I recommend looking elsewhere.
