    Cover/magnets fell off, lost magnets

    It works great and practicality is very good. Only issue is that the cover falls off often and now the tiny magnets got lost which are holding the cover and the lock is without the cover. It does not look great as a dark grayish black mass on the door with batteries showing. I think the cover itself is faulty! Should not be this way for an item that cost $300+. The functionality is good

    Auto unlock is VERY unreliable

    I bought this lock for its auto unlock feature. Unfortunately, it has failed to deliver on this ability. Originally the system worked great, but after using the August Pro lock for a couple of months we began to have occasional problems. Now the auto unlock feature almost never works and it seems to get worse with every update! We have tried to repair the connection (many times), reboot and re-install the lock and hub, un-install the app and re-install, etc. Nothing works. In my opinion, without this functionality, the lock is mostly useless... PLEASE FIX IT and I will revise my reviews.

    If you don't mind being a beta tester then you should be fine. Not 100% reliable. From app crashes, not connecting and can't open the door, you will see what I mean.

    Don't waste your time or breath with this

    Bought a house with an August 3rd generation lock. Called the company to reset the lock and they asked for a photo of the back of the lock since it was registered to the previous owner. Received a confirmation email stating that someone would get back to me within 24 hours. 6 days later, I called and they stated that they have been attempting to get in touch with the previous owner and can’t. I asked what happens if they can’t speak with him to get permission and was not given an alternative. Called again because of the lack of 24 hour follow up to find out this has ben escalated but still no response from previous owner. Told their CSR, that I have sent them a photo per their request and can provide additional information showing owner ship (deed paperwork, additional photos, county auditor information, etc.). Sent them a screen shot from the county auditor site showing my name and the sale date…..THEY STILL WOULD NOT RESET THE LOCK. THEY REFUSED PROOF FROM A GOVERNMENT AGENCY as proof of ownership. I’ll take this lock off my house and buy something with a better reputation.

    Quirky...not ready for primetime!

    I've had the 3rd-gen Smart Lock with Connect hub for three weeks. It works fine if you're using your phone to manually lock / unlock door. "Auto unlock" on the other hand works correctly no more than 50% of the time. Additionally, I receive, at least once a day, a notification that "auto unlock failed." I have no idea why or what it means since I'm usually miles away from home when it happens! Anyway, still using my key.

    Poor Battery Life

    I have had this for over a year now and man does it eat batteries. The nice thing is, it lets you know via email that the batteries are low and when to replace before you get locked out. I also have the numeric keypad and it goes through the batteries as well. Other than eating batteries, it has been a good lock for me for allowing various people access to my house.

    Does not work well on Android phones

    The auto unlock features only works intermittently. Called customer support and they gave me an excuse that because of Android's frequent updates, their lock would not work well. Spent 3 hours on the phone over 2 weeks time and at the end the issue was still unresolved.

    Lock works OK via Bluetooth, wi-fi connect doesn't

    I bought two sets of August locks (both with wi-fi connect) to monitor homes on two sides of the country. They worked initially, but they fall off my home wi-fi easily and cannot be reconnected remotely (only when you are next to it), thereby rendering them useless when they are monitoring a home that's across the country. They also have other bugs like communicating that the lock was opened by an "unknown user" - this is a known issue according to August Customer Support. Wasted investment.

    auto-unlock function does not work with mine. my phone (lg g6) has a trouble with connecting to this lock via bluetooth. (maybe it is the problem of lg g6 though, because auto-unlock function uses both device location and bluetooth connection).,, my g6 has no trouble with other bluetooth devices.. maybe august should investigate compatibility with android phones.

    August connect will not connect to my wifi . I have zero problems with other smart devices . I call August customer service and was told the product was defective. I exchanged the lock and the 2nd lock also will not connect. The app is also has poor performance

    Could not connect to WiFi via August Connect. Tried using both a Samsung Galaxy and Google pixel. Spent about an hour with customer support trying to get it to work. It does not appear as if Android devices are supported by this product.
