Real disappointment.

We Love This Little Guy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had this little cutie for about a week now, and are still getting used to him. This driod is tiny, but a perfect size for playing with. There are a few cool features, like recording messages for him to play back, doing pre-programmed moves, and interacting with voice commands. A little warning... when you tell him "It's a Trap!" make sure the area behind him is clear of items because this little guy will floor it across a room. :) I'm very interested to see what the app updates will provide for BB-8. A few tips for maintenance, he does attracted a lot of dust. Use a lint free cloth to clean him, like the ones for eyeglasses. Remove his head from time to time to clean out dust that may get trapped in his little wheels. In closing, We Love This Little Guy!

Great fun little droid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You like Star Wars remote control toys this one is for you I have read member review having to reconnect every time to use it so what name another rc toy you use your computer phone, tablet to control car, drone you will have to connect every time price may scare some people away from buying this but I had to buy mine at bed bath and beyond best buy, and GameStop where sold out them when I was looking for one but it is worth to see him turn,. Turning and steering is easy it's like driving car as long you follow it, be better if it had built in camera in it for you see where you are going from around corner, if you have friend to talk to message option can be fun to do with it first rc toy that is sphere to made into droid and move without wire attached to it. Best part no batteries required unlike cheaper and bigger version it have lithium battery. Bad thing when playing with it kills battery in tablet and computer phone fast so if playing with it recharge your device or keep it plugged in some people who have baby who can crawl may get more fun out it see how baby or animal react to it in action

Fun toy, but design flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This guy has a LOT of personality and really is quite fun! With that said, long term use, leads to a lot of cleaning the head or failure altogether. They are planning on making new replacement heads, so it may not be a big deal, when they finally get around to it. The outside ball may crack, so not a great toy for kids whom don't understand some basics. Overall, it's still a blast to play with him for quite some time..but the excitement fades. I hope they add some new options soon to keep interest. He can get updated firmware...

Not a good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think that they tried to do too much with this and forgot the basics, it gets stuck in tile grout lines.

This is the droid you are looking for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these the first day this little guy came out. One for my friends and one for myself. It is a good product. At the time some features on the app where not working. I hope by now they are working. He was neat to have but he would sometimes hit walls repeatedly on 'patrol' mode. I thought once he hit it he would turn around and roll away but that was not the case. The only other issue with that is his head came off a few times because of the antenna and him rolling around too fast. It's a lot of fun to watch your animals sniff BB-8 and then he rolls away.

Beware- No Speakers on the Droid!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WHY WOULD THE SOUND NOT COME FROM THE ROBOT??! Seriously, this has to be a design oversight- the sound comes from your phone speakers, not the droid (kinda defeats the purpose of having a decent range from the phone). I would also highly suggest adding an option to purchase a remote for those who don't want to control it with their phone. Might also be nice to offer a larger model for more money for those that want a larger scale version (maybe it could even have a tiny tray compartment like in the movie?)! Best things are the charging base and high quality details/feel. The controls navigate well and are precise, but again would like to see a remote control option that doesn't require use of a smartphone, even if it's an additionally purchased accessory created later. Great start, I can't wait to see what improvements Gen 2 will bring!! :)

great bb8
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A bb8 droid is a round robot, shaped like a ball with a magnetic head. It rolls around in your home. Download bb8 app with smart phone or tablet and you will see that you can control bb8 all by yourself. It talks but the sound comes from the phone and it does not speak English. It is a lot of fun and can do neat things.

Great Little Droid with Some Flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While it may not be in actual 1:1 scale, this little droid is still awesome. Has some great detail and moves just like he does in the trailers! Some cons include the battery life, which one gets around 1 hour of use with a 2-3 hour charge and how it does not move that well at times on carpet. This is bound to be a hot item this holiday season so if you want one, pick it up while you can!

THE must-have toy for the holidays
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I stood in line at another store on Force Friday to get it only to find out only certain stores had it in stock. So, I went home and slept a few hours and then got to Best Buy bright and early. Between the time I got in line (I was the only one) and the store opened, I guess several people purchased it online for in-store pickup. Luckily there was one left. It's a very cool toy. I love all of the features. Controlling him isn't that big of a learning curve. I just wish he had a ':follow" or proximity function where he stays within a certain distance from your device and will follow you to stay within that distance. Maybe it will be a feature in the future. The message function is a bit odd and you have to have your device place in the perfect position in order for the hologram to look right, but it's not a big deal. Still a really cool little product.

Cool and Fun little toy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really like this toy, it's fun and cute and really does a good job of emulating what we've seen of the BB-8 droid from the movie. Hopefully they add in new features once the movie is released like they have hinted at doing.

Fun. Easy set up on ios
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received as a gift. It seems a bit small for 149 for me to buy it, myself. It says compatible with android 4....something. But we got an android 5...something tablet and the play store says "not compatible with this version of android". If anyone has figured it out it would be nice. Our android tablet is a brand new 20inch type screen. So I know it's the most recent android OS in the market. Ios worked great. It's a novelty item. Adults may get bored of it after an hour. But if you have a kid that thinks it's cute, you'll enjoy them interacting with it like it were a dog or pet. PATROL MODE makes it like it has a mind of its own. Set the "override" speed to low when on hardwood. It can go so fast that its magnetic head can come off after bumping into a wall or obstacle (like my sons various other toys around the area)

Fun for all ages
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my son as Christmas present. Took it out to charge it, but couldn't stop there. BB8 is so freaking cute! So downloaded the app and started letting him roll around. All of my coworkers thought this Droid was awesome! Once my son forgets about him (sad but true) I'm bring him back to the office! Seriously is the best remote control toy I have ever purchased. Definitely worth the money!

NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super cool toy, great for fans. Now on to why I took it back. Very hard to control, needs a camera, also needs some sounds from the actual robot not just phone. Early adopters are gonna love it. I'll wait for the next one. Looks cool though.

Fun little toy, nothing more, not worth $150
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the product description is incorrect, there is no power adapter included, just a USB to MicroUSB plug. Second, From all the reviews I had seen prior to the release, It was touted as programmable, similar to the Sphero 2 ball. Well it is not. While it shares all of the innards of a Sphero 2 ball, they have omitted the chip that allows the Sphero 2 to be programmable, so all you end up with is a glorified remote controlled ball. Third, every aspect of BB8 , from voice recognition to sounds, is controlled thru a buggy app that keeps crashing. If you have an Android device, half of the features advertised, such as voice recognition and holographic recordings are not available, they are listed as "future enhancements" in the app store. While this is a fun little toy, it is definitely not worth the $150 that Sphero is asking for it. Save yourself $70 and get the R/C BB8, at least with a physical remote there is no risk of it crashing and taking your phone with it.

just ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this toy was supposed to be so awesome! After a couple of hours it was pretty average. Don't buy into the hype. Sure it's cute, but that can only go so far. It's hard to control, the auto mode is iffy, and like another reviewer pointed out, re-connecting it everytime it shuts down or sleeps is terrible. I had no problem connecting it, but ymmv. Also, there are a lot of cute sounds that come from using it, but they only cone out the phone! Bb does not have a built in speaker. So when you see it across the room looking frustrated and drunk, the fun gets lowered a bit when your phone is still on the counter away from you. Again, it's cute but no where near the asking price.
