However after putting this in, nothing changed about my internet speed or reliability, so I returned it. One thing that was really irritating was that every hour or so it would ask for the password again!

This is definitely not the router's expected behavior as it should provide a stable connection once it's set up. Our Escalation Engineers could have helped you achieve your expected speed and reliable connection by optimizing the unit's wireless settings.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. The F9K1113 model is just a plain Dual-band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router and doesn't have a modem functionality. If you have an existing modem, simply install this router to add Wi-Fi connectivity to your home.
