tldr; If you have $100 to burn on a router (AC or otherwise), move along. Even though I dropped $100 on this as an AC router investment to make the most of my 300Mbps connection, I wouldnt even use this router on a 5Mbps pipe. There were quality/performance issues with both wifi channels, AND the switch. This router (AC1200) was problematic almost immediately but got worse over the course of two weeks. 5Ghz channel WiFi After 24 hours, the 5Ghz channel had dropped all devices, but was still broadcasting. Attempts to reconnect could not complete. Reboot router resolved issue temporarily, but would occur again. The quality of the connection was poor REGARDLESS of the location of router and distance of device(s). Just pinging the gateway from multiple devices that were next to the router would spike (to over 10seconds in extreme cases), or chunks of ping requests would drop. This was for both 2.4, and 5Ghz channels. The nail in the coffin was when my primary PC's bandwidth deteriorated, which is directly connected to a 1Gbit port on the router via CAT5.e cable, started to deteriorate and could not break 150Mbps down (my pipe is 300Mbps, which the router was capable of giving me). Remove the router from the network, run my pc straight into the modem, 320Mpbs down. Put router in the front of the network again, down still peaking at 150Mbps. Something is defective on the router, wether its heat related I have no idea. It's a small casing, doesnt look well ventilated, and I gave it a go in a few rooms in the house all with the same results. I bought mine at Best Buy and there is a 1yr manufacturer's warranty that Best Buy honors in store, so since I was 2 days out of BB's 15 day return policy I was still able to return it to them for store credit instead of dealing with Belkin. Good Luck!

    Maybe just a bad luck

I ended up returning the product and here is why. * Setting up was a breeze. I use MAC address filtering and was able to configure with no problem. Devices connected except for one major problem. My daughters phone Samsung S4 and and an iPod kept getting the same IP address using DHCP. Tried updating the firmware but it was the latest one. The only way I was able to get rid of the issue is by giving the devices a static IP by using the router's built-in "IP reserve" feature. I should NOT have to though ** The connection was not good in comparison to my old D-Link DIR-601 which is a 150 mbps max wireless N router. I've never had an AC router before so can't give speed comparison using the 5ghz but let me just say with the laptop 5 feet away from the router, I did get 700+ mbps but with it 20 feet away with no wall blocking it, the speed went down dramatically to 169 mbps. I felt it should be at the same speed, if not, at least close to it but not drop by 500+. As far as the N connection I only had 65 mbps while my old d-link always gives me 100+ PROS: I love their dashboard. It looks good, makes it easy to navigate and find your way around when configuring your router. As the title say, maybe it was just bad luck for me as I've read other reviews and never read a post with the same issue as mine.

This is my 2nd Belkin: I purchased it because the first one was reliable for 8 years. After having this one for a month, I plan to exchange it because I realized that I do not get a signal just outside my house on my porch. My other Belkin had no problem reaching my porch, where I spend a lot of time during summer. I was wondering why I was running out of data!

Before you consider on returning the device, we hope you'd give us a chance to be of service to you. We suggest that you place the router in the center of your home away from walls and other obstructions. You can also tweak its wireless channel to avoid possible interference. Not good for home office

I work from home and I had lightning strike my house and had to temporarily replace my Buffalo N750 router. My house has above average network enabled devices. I have network switches and a wireless access point and about 12 of the internet enabled devices are connected to my network at all times. I think this router is good for home use, it was very easy to setup. The administration tools are very intuitive and easy to configure. Wireless devices have no problems connecting and stay connected. Any idiot can get this router up and running and secure in under 10 minutes. The issues occur under heavy traffic on the connected devices that are hard wired (ie. Tivo, NAS drive, office computers) I would routinely get IP conflicts and when I was under heavy VPN network traffic from my work computers. The internet connection would become unstable and the router would need a rebooted. This would occur almost on a daily basis when I am working on my home office machines. I was glad when my Buffalo router came back from the repair shop. I now use the Belkin router as a wireless access point and it works very well in that capacity.

    Continuously Dropped Connection

This was a poor product in my opinion. We are a busy company, and when we purchase a product, we expect it to work without having to take a lot of time out of our day to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. For about a week, we experienced issues where the router would consistently drop the WiFi connection and would require a reset. It may have been something that could've been fixed but, like I said, we don't really want a product that takes that kind of time to get working the way it should out of the box. We returned it and purchased an Apple Extreme Base Station, a product with which we haven't had a single issue.

The Belkin F9K1113-BBY takes less than 5 minutes to setup. Incredibly easy to use, lightning fast, and AC Wi-Fi Band Capable. If you own a smart television, this is a must have as well since it can accept USB input for movie streaming etc....

Had for a few years now. I write this as I look for something to replace it with because I'm just sick of it at this point. Lacks features in the software even on the newest firmware build, needs reboots almost daily, after a while it needs a factory reset to get the 2.4 or 5 band to work again. Works amazing immediately after the factory reset so I do it for fun sometimes just for the performance boost. Grinds to a halt after a few weeks with 8+ devices on our network. It never stops working altogether which is why it gets 3 stars. It always works, just not very good usually. Does that make it average, as the 3 stars implies? IDK, take 3 stars with a grain of salt. Perhaps with one device and occasional use it works great but not for a whole bunch of kids, computers, tablets, smart tvs, etc.

When I hooked this router up, it was great. Strong signal and way faster than cable company supplied router. Within a day though the 5ghz band would quit working every couple of hours. I contacted belkin 3 times. First 2 times were great, but they didnt fix the problem. The third time the lady told me I shouldnt use the 5ghz band and I should only use 2.4, well why buy a dual band router I asked. she was very rude a couple times and told me that was all they could do to help me. Router is going back to store tommorrow for linksys or netgear. Its too bad because I really liked everything about it and it fit perfect t were I had it.

    Not worth the money

PROS: Affordable / Looks neat CONS: This router initially looked like a great deal I couldn't pass up. Directly after taking it home I noticed the range was extremely poor. Beyond that, this router would have immense slow downs and even drop devices only 5 feet away from it every 30 minutes for no apparent reason. Initially, I believed this was a firmware error so I updated the router only to find the latest firmware was released over a year ago with no new updates --Belkin just dropped software support for it. The next thing I did was check if the product was defective, only to find countless people were experiencing the same poor performance online. I traded in this piece of plastic for a Netgear Nighthawk series and have never been happier.

    Unreliable DNS setting

This is a powerful router with a lot of nice features. But the deal killer for me was the inability to use any other network other than 192.168.2.0 and the fact that the checkbox for the Automatic from ISP DNS check box would become unselected and greyed out, and unable to reselect. Also when that happened, the text boxes for alternate DNS # were not editable. Without DNS, the WWW is inaccessible. Don't waste your money, and look elsewhere.

This is the first router that I have bought in about 10 years. The old one just kept chugging along so it never got replaced. This was quick and easy to setup. I have been using this for just over 2 months now and so far it has been flawless. My only trouble was that i did not at first, notice that it was set to 802.11n only, this kept me from connecting my 802.11g printer at first but after I noticed the setting even my older printer is connected. Great router hopes it lasts like my last one.

I have to say the set up was easy and I was excited to be able to have my son use the media access when he was gaming. I wasn't having any problems with my phone/tablet/laptop all running but he came upstairs at one point and said he was having issues with the streaming on his xbox. I was going to have him switch to the media side this morning but when I got up the router refused to stay connected to my Time Warner Cable modem. I tried for 2 HOURS to get it to work with no luck. After some on line research I find that this is a common problem between TWC and Belkin products. I finally gave up and hooked my old router back up and will be returning this today for a refund. If it works for you great, but I am disappointed with the whole experience at this point.
