For instance, my security system's initial set up needed to be paired to the main internet modem. But, it would've been difficult to move it to the other room. So, the cable solved the problem for me. Plus, I just like the color. :)

After running it under area rugs and testing it out for a couple of weeks, we were so satisfied with the quality and stability improvement of a hard-wired connection vs wi-fi network, that we ran the cable permanently through the basement.
