Might be better than pro steam cleaners

It's the most pricey carpet shampooer in its class, but its worth it. Comparing all features I settled on this one because it had an upholstery/hand tool, and also because is can do steam. Note, it can only do steam treating on the floor, and the steam isn't particularly aggressive, but you can hear it. It sounds a lot like using an iron that makes steam.
The steam function runs by itself, without vacuum suction or the rollers, as a way to pre-treat/pre-warm the area to be cleaned. The Max Clean mode makes use of steam, but not the same way. Quick dry mode uses a lot less water and does not use steam.
The pair of rollers spin very fast and definitely do a thorough job. The picture attached to this review is of an "impossibly" dirty carpet area; its the walkway between my garage and my kitchen. This off-white carpet gets very dirty here, because of the garage. After one pass, you can see the stripe where it's cleaner. (This is a few days after the area dried, as an experiment). This part of the carpet has been professionally cleaned in the past, with not so great results. Truck-mounted steam cleaners usually use man power to brush and scrub the carpet, so its more labor intensive and you cant concentrate the scrubbing. For smaller areas, this cleaner might be better than having a pro come out.
A full tank of wash formula mix will probably be able to do about 100 square feet, so you will probably want more than just the sample bottles this comes with.

The device works as advertised. The device went together easily. There were a couple of small spots I did not expect to be removed but they still were a good 75% gone. 2 places I really cared about came up clean. You do go through the water/cleaning solution very fast but it is likely necessary. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because the rinse and storage tray which cleans the brush area - the dirtiest/soap-scummy area - is optional. It should be included since it is not easy to clean otherwise - you have to take it outside and run it, running clean water through it.
This area had a large 2'x2' black coffee stain . Nothing got rid of it. The Bissel made quick short work of it. We were very surprised.

Since our purchase, my daughter is the one who has operated it. She is quite impressed. We bought an earlier model, in 2019. We have used it often, especially recently, because we have older dogs, who have been having many accidents. Recently, it wasn't working well. So, we bought this updated version, and it has been working amazingly. The steam feature really helps to get down, and treat the carpet, to the floor level. The machine is heavier, than the old one, but cleaning level is far superior. There is an instruction video, we found online, and it is very detailed in explaining how the machine is operated. For us, it was worth the investment!

Love this steam carpet cleaner. It is light weight but powerful and efficient. We have an eldery dog ( see photo at the crime scene)who is beginning to dribble. She is on estrogen replacement (it is working), but accidents happen. The portable Bissell we own was no mach for Carly, so we invested in the above. It was a great investment. At 72, I am sure that if I can do it, so can you. The instructions are clear, and the machine snapped together quickly and was ready to use in less than 20 minutes. I had the worst stains treated within half an hour and began to treat the lightly treaded areas.I went back over the heavily soiled areas with both steam only and steam plus cleaner. Here is where I made a rookie mistake and over applied cleaner...no matter, the machine has a quick dry mode to vacuum only and extract excess liquid. Results: carpet looks great and has a fresh smell. There is a very light "shadow" where the beast is in the photo, which will probably go away completely with a refresh treatment. If it does not improve, I will still be well satisfied with this purchase. I should close by adding that the cleanup of the machine, before storage, was equally easy and efficient. A special tool is included to comb out the roller brushes and clean out the steam and vacuum ports of any debris that may have been missed by your pre vacuum of the carpet. I can't wait to try out the upholstery tools on the beast's favorite couch.

A hot water line in the master bathroom broke and by the time I got it turned off, water was flowing into the bedroom carpet. The stain was awful and so was the smell. Research told me it would require more than one cleaning. I decided it was cheaper to by this Bissell that have someone come more then once. It took a few tries but got the job done.

I was excited about the steam feature and quick dry feature but overall more negative than positive. The design makes it clog with pet hair too quickly minimizing the suction. The worst part is when i turn it off, dirty water comes back out. I have to keep it on a pet pee pee pad when i turn it off so it doesn't leak the water back out on what i just cleaned. It does dry faster than my previous carpet cleaners but the dirty water is a deal breaker for me!

Prior to recieving the Revolution Hydrosteam, we had Bissells previous model of pet carpet scrubber (ProHeat 2x Revolution Max Clean Pet Pro). We were excited to see how this compared. A few years back we bought carpet we regret. We thought the color would hide dirt as we have 4 dogs and a yard that often turns to mud. We couldn't be more wrong and it looms dingy ALL THE TIME. This cleaner brought it back to like a little bit.
When I first tried this cleaner my first impression honestly was not good. I have a 10 month old who is now crawling so i needed the floors dry before he came home from daycare. I tried the Quick Dry mode that is supposed to dry in mins. While it did dry quickly as advertised; I felt it was because it it wasnt really cleaning. The amount of water that it put out was so minimal that almost nothing was sucked back into the machine. I discovered later that it cleaned more than i thought by ways of picking up dog hair. Even after having pre vaccumed with my Dyson Animal, this cleaner pulled up a boat load of hair(when all was pulled out it was a pile the size of a baseball!) What was great also was how easy it was to get the hair out of the machine too.
This scrubber couldnt have come at a better time. We just got a new puppy who isnt fully house trained yet. I feel that the steam also helps sanatize the carpet where she has gone potty better than the previous model. The day after I got this she went in my sons room and both pooped and peed on his white rug. I was able to use the provided pet solution and get the stains and smells of both accidents out of his rug using the hydrosteam feature. It is now sparkling white again!
I then went back to my livingroom on a day I had more time to let the carpet dry while the kiddo was away. This time i used the presteam feature as well as the hydosteam features. I was very happy with the results. I was skeptical about the presteam feature at first but I feel it is what helped remove some of the stuck in sticky stains in my carpet that the previous scrubber never touched! My carpet looks far less dingy now. My only complaints are that this scrubber is SUPER heavy, especially when the water tank is full. My other complaint is just how quicly it goes theough the water. I used a whole tank just on my sons rug and 4 tanks in my tiny living room. Both things are fairly trivial. I will also point out thay the tank is much easier to fill than other modles with the bottom being flat. The scrubber was super easy to set up initialy, is astetically pleasing, and also comes with several great attachments.
All in all i would reccomend this as long as you have the strength to lift/ push it around.

Easily the best Household Carpet deep cleaner !!!
|
Posted .

This carpet deep cleaner is a must have in every household. In spite of vacuuming the house frequently, over a period carpet becomes so dirty. After about 6 months, especially with pets, the not-so-easily-visible dirt and allergens can cause issues and irritation. Sometimes kids play and roll on the carpet and this invisible dirt can cause rashes. With a household Carpet deep cleaner, it’s so easy to keep the carpets clean all year long. With a little more effort than the regular vacuuming, once in every 4 to 6 months the carpets are super clean. Just like owning a vacuum, it totally makes sense to own a carpet deep cleaner as well.
Now, let’s come to why BISSELL Revolution HydroSteam Upright Deep Cleaner.
Hydrosteam technology is usually found in commercial grade carpet cleaners. This model has implemented that technology in a household carpet cleaner. The steam helps loosens the dirt and stain before the super clean mode cleans them spotlessly. The cleaning process being similar to a regular vacuum, it’s so easy and natural to deep clean the carpet. With a transparent plastic around the floor brushes, you can actually see the dirt getting washed away.
Ease of Use
-----------------
This was really simple to assemble. The instructions are provided clearly on the tag as well the user guide.
With a design just like an upright vacuum cleaner, the cleaning process is almost similar and comes naturally. However, this is slightly heavier than the regular vacuum and requires a bit more effort to navigate around the carpet.
Cleaning process
-----------------------
Please note this is not a vacuum cleaner and will not replace your regular vacuum cleaner. The carpet needs to be vacuumed thoroughly before using this carpet deep cleaner.
There are 3 modes available.
1. Steam Pretreat Mode
2. SteamWash MAX Clean Mode
3. Quick Dry Mode
Steam Pretreat mode helps loosen the dirt/stain. SteamWash MAX clean mode cleans it thoroughly. There is a trigger in the handle that releases the steam when pressed. All we need to do is, with Steam Pretreat mode, make a couple of back of forth passes while pressing the trigger. This steams the area. Change the mode to MAX clean and with trigger make another couple of back and forth passes. This steam cleans the area. And again make a couple of back and forth passes without trigger. That’s all there is, it’s as simple as that.
I left the carpet to dry overnight for about 8 to 9 hours and I found that it was almost dry in the morning and I was able to walk on it.
When the carpet is cleaned using Quick dry mode, the carpet will dry in about 30 minutes.
Carpet area for a single clean
----------------------------------------
The cleaner holds 1 gallon of water and needs to be mixed with approx. 4 Oz of cleaner solution (company recommends using BISSELL cleaning solution). With the number of maneuvers I mentioned above, I was able to deep clean approx. 8 x 8 sq ft area before needing to refill the clean water and cleaning solution. With slightly less passes you may be able to cover slightly more area, but I would recommend making the extra effort to maximize the cleaning results. I wish there was an indicator or alarm to tell us when to refill the water, but it’s easy enough for us to know by ourselves by looking at the transparent rotating brush area. The cover over the brushes is removable and helps keep it clean which enhances its performance.
The dirty water tank is a bit tricky to handle for the first time. It’s easy to accidentally spill dirty water when trying to pour it out. This needs to be carefully handled but it’s easy to get used to it.
The only flaw is, just like any other cleaner, the dirty water keeps dripping through the brushes leaving drops of dirty water onto the clean carpet. I had to quickly move it onto the tiled floor after my last clean to avoid dirtying the carpet and it left some amount of water on the floor which I had to mop it dry. A slight hassle, I would say.
Attachments and Supplements
-----------------------------------------
This also comes with a 2-in-1 Pet Upholstery Tool to clean the sofas and cushions. Also, there is a 6-inch Tough Stain Tool to remove tough stains. The 8 Ft Hose helps with the reach. 8 Oz carpet deep clean solution and 8 Oz urine eliminator solution is also provided in the box.
Overall performance and results
-------------------------------
My carpet was really dirty and after a lot of deliberation between renting a commercial carpet cleaner and getting a domestic deep clean carpet cleaner, I went with owning a domestic carpet deep cleaner. And after my first use, I am absolutely delighted with the results. The carpet looks pretty clean now. By owning this, I would now be able to keep my carpet clean every few months. And surely it saves me the hassle to rent a commercial cleaner. And the biggest advantage is, I can do it room by room split it weekend by weekend. This way it’s not a huge hassle and I can move things around within the house and get the carpet cleaned with ease at my will.
Apart from cleaning the carpets, this easily removes the stains left behind due to spills like coffee, wine etc. This was able to clean the stains spotless. Cleaning process is the same. Another huge reason to own this, as we cannot run around looking for something to remove the stains every time there is an accidental spill.
To summarize, this is one of the best deep clean carpet cleaner especially with the hydro steam technology which is not available in other household carpet cleaners. And I will definitely recommend buying this one to keep your carpets clean.

Bissell hits a homerun!

The Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam deep cleaner is ready to tackle all your pets accidents without breaking a sweat. I have three dogs, a cat and a mini pig, the Bissell doesn’t blink for whatever they throw at it.
Unpacking is easy and without excess waist and packaging. Putting the machine together is very easy and straight forward. The attachments are easily stored in a provided draw string bag and at the ready should you need them for your furniture or stairs.
Ease of use is a 10 out of 10 for me. The cleaning solution container has two levels, one for small messes and one for large messes, which is very nice so you don’t waist excess cleaning solution. Emptying the waist container is a breeze as is after use clean up. Adding on the attachments was extremely simple and they work very well, as advertised.
The steam function is very quick once the machine is turned on. I did notice a slight burning smell on the very first start up with steam, it has not happened again. The three cycles to choose from are Steam/Steam&Cleaner/Quick Dry and it is all selected through the top handle selector button (little gear picture) right above the power button.
I highly recommend this product for anyone with pets!

Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam Vacuum

I have children (3). I have pets (7). I am the target market for this product.
I did purchase a ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro Carpet Cleaner directly from Bissell, approximately two years ago. I wanted to see how this unit was an improvement (or not) over that model. I bought that model when our dogs were puppies, and boy, did it get a workout.
First impressions were that I liked the color (copper is not a usual accent color that I see on vacuums/steamers) and OMG was this heavy! Bissell lists the weight as 22.5 lbs. on their product page. It feels a bit heavier than that. My other cleaner is hefty, but I don’t recall it feeling quite as heavy as this one feels to me.
Assembly was simple, as usual for Bissell. Controls are basic, and somewhat intuitive, once you learn what the icons mean.
One thing I really liked over my old steamer is that the water reservoir SITS ON THE COUNTER to fill. My previous ProHeat has an angled reservoir, so it won’t sit on the counter at all – you have to hold it to fill.
I made a batch for a large area. This takes one of the two trial-size bottles of cleaner you receive with the steamer.
The carpet cleaning mode said that the carpet would take 8 hours to dry. While this unit does have a Quick Dry mode, which dries in 30 minutes according to the manual, I wanted a deeper clean. So, in the interest of time, I started with the recliner.
You know the one. The one that most homes own. That favorite, well-loved-to-the-point-of-smothered, ole' ratty looking recliner? The one that the kids, dogs, and (in my case) husband all love but you’d rather not have it in your living room? Yeah, that one.
I first tried the 2-in-1 Upholstery Tool. I wasn’t impressed. The water did not come out consistently, so I ended up getting wet myself trying to dispense the solution. No debris came up in the dry vacuum, hardly any water came up using the wet vac option.
The other scrubbing tool is where it’s at. I used it to scrub up Doritos dust and who knows what else. The cleaning solution had a nice, fresh smell to it. Once the recliner dried, it looked almost new…if you overlooked the holes made by its constant use.
Since the carpet would take so long to dry, I decided to clean only half of the living room. I vacuumed the carpet until I felt certain I had got up all the debris. Then, I put the steamer to work.
I had a spot in the carpet that I needed to get up, so I tried the Pretreat with Steam mode first. The vacuum motor shuts off while in this mode, so don’t be alarmed – that’s on purpose. You are to make passes over the stain with the trigger held for 20 seconds, then vacuum up any water. It didn’t do much to get up the stain, so I don’t see the point in this feature. My aforementioned steamer has a mode to spray the solution over the stain as a pretreat. That seems to work much better in my opinion.
Next, I went to work on the larger area of the carpet. Between the recliner, steam mode, and the half of the room I cleaned, I used the entire tank of solution.
It picked up a lot of stuff. So much, in fact, that I had wet hair gathering on the wheels of the machine. Some of it came off on its own while I continued to clean; the rest I had to pick off. Yuck.
A big improvement over my other cleaner is that it picked up a lot of dirt and sand out of the carpet. I didn’t see that when I cleaned my carpet before. The water was quite murky when I was done. The room had a fresh smell. The carpet wasn’t incredibly damp, so I don’t think it took the full 8 hrs. to dry.
I didn’t like the cleaning up process, though. My old steamer leaked from the dirty water reservoir. This unit did not, which was much appreciated. However, you have to hold this large piece of the steamer in one hand (I guess you could set it down, but I didn’t have a place to), while dumping the water out with the other.
A note to the manufacturer – not everyone has a utility sink! When thinking of design and how you write instructions, please consider that.
The sand kept clumping in the bottom of the reservoir, so I tried to keep rinsing it over and over again in a small bathroom sink to get it out.
You then need to take the lid off of where the brushes are and clean that out. More wet hair. Fun. Then, find it a place to dry before reassembling.
This unit does not come with a drip tray (my other model did) nor any way to hang up the hoses to dry.
All in all, this is a very nice unit. Sturdy, cleans fairly well, with a few hiccups in my experience. I’d say to buy it if you don’t need the dry vacuuming on the upholstery tool and have enough strength to push it/carry it around.

I have 3 cats and a senior dog. This Bissell Hydrosteam is the first carpet cleaner I've ever bought or used.
WHY I CHOSE THIS ONE OVER OTHERS
At the time of writing this, it's the most positively removed home carpet cleaner and the only one that offers a steam pre-treat option or a steam clean option. Other machines use heated water but not steam. Steam works to loosen stains and particles so that they can be cleaned from the carpet fibers more effectively. The steam makes such a difference that I speculate that most newer machines that follow this one (by any brand) will include steam functionality.
PROS:
• So far it has removed a ridiculous number of old set-in pet stains and smells including stains left behind by cat barf and dog diarrhea (he was sick). It also completely removed some mold spots that were discovered under a bath mat just outside of the master bathroom.
• It's very easy to use and quick to set up once you get the hang of it
• It has attachments for spot cleaning furniture, small rugs, and car seats
• The brushes are able to loosen and remove pet hair that was too entangled in the carpet fibers to be picked up by our (Dyson) vacuum (although it should be noted that the carpet cleaner doesn't suck up the hair, so you'll have to pick up the wet hair clumps yourself. I swear it's not as awful as it sounds — I'm just psyched that it's not in the carpet anymore).
• I very much appreciate that the Bissell cleaning solution options are all pet-safe
CONS:
• This thing is heavy and those whole process is fairly physically demanding. I imagine this is probably true for all upright carpet cleaners though. When you're not pushing a heavy piece of machinery back and forth, you're carrying tanks of water back and forth to the bathroom/kitchen to be emptied or filled.
• It's not very portable because of its weight — again, likely true for all upright carpet cleaners. If you need to carry this thing up and down flights of stairs, don't skip arm day at the gym.
• I've noticed that stains that are older than few months don't disappear completely — though they do still fade significantly.
• The water tank isn't huge which is both a blessing and curse. A blessing because if it was bigger this machine would be even heavier and carrying the full tanks would be daunting. A curse because this means that you're going to be emptying and refilling a few times if you're doing a whole room.
• This machine is very easy to take apart for cleaning.
TIPS:
• When I first plugged in my machine, all the icons were blinking and I couldn't turn it on. The cause of this turned out to be that the handle wasn't inserted properly. I just had to remove it and snap it back in place correctly. I have seen a few people complain that they are unable to turn their machine on, and the handle not being inserted properly was the issue — so be aware when you're assembling that this piece needs to be inserted so that it snaps in place.
• VACCUUM WELL before you use the carpet cleaner. Carpet cleaners aren't vacuums. If you have any solid matter or media in or on the carpet, this machine is not going to pick it up. Vacuum first, and that will prevent you from having to pick up soggy wet clumps of whatever as you clean your carpets.
• Clean your carpet cleaner after each use! The water tanks and the clear plastic piece that covers the brushes all detach easily. Give them all a good rinse after you're done and leave them out to dry before reattaching. Also, give the brushes a good once over with a rag. I also like to lay the machine down on its side so I can wipe down the undercarriage as well. This cleaning step only takes a few minutes and it prevents your machine from getting gross over team, and ensures it's sparkling clean and ready for you to use next time you need it.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I am very happy I shelled out the $ for this machine. It makes such a huge difference in the condition of my rugs and carpets, and it's very easy to use. Even though it's a more laborious process than I imagined, the dopamine hit I get from seeing stains literally disappear before my eyes makes the process very much worth it. If you have pets or children, get it. You'll thank youself!

Upon receiving this machine for review, decided to go for the gold. I had just replaced the carpet on half the lower level which was almost 20 years old. The other half, just as old, has patio doors leading out to the back yard. As animal lovers, we've always had 2 dogs, currently both Golden Retrievers. Going in & out 5-6 or more times every day, through rain, snow, mud, there's literally a brown path you can follow through you can follow from the door. The carpet is filthy, matted, and on its last leg. We were ready to go for a change-out, but decided to see what the Bissell could do for it.
After a quick assembly (not bad at all, similar to an upright vacuum), set the machine to Steamwash Max Clean Mode, filled the tank with the provided cleaning solution, and set to work. While this is a heavy unit, in operation it glides effortlessly and is easy to use. I thought it would take some time to warm up, but it was pumping steam in under 30 seconds.
This is not our first carpet cleaner, we've had 2 or 3 units before this, but we could tell right away this machine was different just via the amount of filth that was collecting in the dirty tank. At the conclusion it was pretty evident that the Bissell had given the carpet a new lease on life, no doubt due to the Hydrosteam function of the unit.
The unit also comes with a pet upholstery tool and a tough stain tool - very handy for those "oops" moments with the pet. The hose is 8 ft, as opposed to the usual 6 ft, so kudos on that. The tools also come with a nice carry bag that you can hang on the machine. Ever take out the vacuum and wonder what you did with the tools? Thoughtful feature.
I was very pleased with the operation and results, and would strongly recommend the Hydrosteam to anyone looking for professional results.

Carpet Steaming is finally here!

Once reserved for commercial professional equipment, this new HydroSteam by Bissell brings steam cleaning for home use.
Steam cleaning has always been a very effective and gentle way of cleaning anything. Handheld steamers can be bought online to clean grout, bathroom fixtures, etc. Bissell combined the power of steam cleaning to their upright carpet cleaner to make cleaning at home as good as professionals.
Setup was easy out of the box. Just a few parts to clip together and you will be steam cleaning your carpets within 10 minutes. It does come with 2 sample sized bottle of shampoo to get you started so be sure to buy full size solutions if you plan on doing your whole house.
There are 3 modes to this cleaner and can be confusing at first. First is “Steam Pretreat” and that is just a steamer mode with no suction. It takes about a minute to heat up and steam will come out of the bottom from the water/shampoo solution in your tank. This mode is great to help loosen stains and also help reduce stinky messes. Second mode is “SteamWash Max Clean”. This mode is on by default and it’s a combination of steam and wet with suction. You don’t get any visualization of the steam like the first mode but it’s there in conjunction with a regular carpet cleaning mode. The steam does make this more effective than regular carpet cleaners without. Do note that this mode takes a lot of water and soap and takes a day to dry. The last and third mode is called “Quick Dry”. It’s similar to the second mode but uses way less water so it can be dry to the touch within 30 minutes. I wouldn’t use this mode if you have pet stains. I would only use “Quick Dry” as a carpet refresher and not for stain removal.
In the box, you also get 2 handheld tools and a long hose. The difference between the two handheld tools is one is smaller for chairs and also has a “dry” suction option to vac up dry items before flipping it over to wet. It also has rubber nibs on the bottom to help loosen pet fur, etc without nylon bristles. The second handheld tool is slightly larger and is best to be used for stairs and spot cleaning carpet. Both will not steam in the hose mode. Steam only comes out of the bottom of the upright.
I had high expectations of this carpet cleaner/steamer and it didn’t fail to impress me. It removed my pet accident with ease and even took out older set-in stain from months prior. The steam might not be commercial strength but does its job with a bit of patience.
A few gripes that I have are that there isn’t a separate solutions tank. You are always mixing in soap to the water tank. The tank has 2 suggested fill lines with around 8 cups to the small line and 16 cups to the large line. The suggested solutions mixture is roughly 2.7oz. Without a separate solutions tank, I can never follow up with just water without emptying my tank first. My last gripe is about machine maintenance. The rollers don’t come out and remains in the machine. The rollers can get long hair wrapped in there and you will be on your hands and knees with scissors cutting it out. There is also a buildup of grime or pet fur that’s too clumpy to be sucked into the tank. Those will need to be wiped out by hand and can get messy. They do offer a “storage and cleaning tray” that your upright can sit in but it’s not currently being offered on Bissell’s website for sale and says “coming soon” at the time of this writing. That may resolve some of my maintenance issues but hard to know without trying one out.
Overall, I do recommend this carpet cleaner. It does a better job than traditional carpet shampooers with the power of steaming. Separate solutions tank and easier roller brush cleaning would make this machine perfect. Until then, 4 stars out of 5.
