Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Blink cameras have a decent build quality to them, but the unscrewing to get inside the unit is just not worth it. There is no sd card capability inside them & you have to buy a separate module to even save your video unless you subscribe to one of their plans. The modules lose connection multiple times a week and sometimes just stop working completely, with no help from Amazon or Best Buy after 15 days. So keep looking if you are in the market for a real security camera setup.

Posted .Hello, Tazman812. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Blink Outdoor 4 wireless security system. I am sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing and have some recommendations to try and help with the module losing connection. I first recommend checking your Wi-Fi signal strength where the module is located and moving the device to where it has the best connection. Power cycle your Sync Module by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Power cycle your camera by removing the batteries for five seconds, then reinserting them. Check the battery level and replace them if needed. Check the signal strength between the Sync Module and the Outdoor 4 camera. Blink basically forces you to purchase a subscription plan. I thought that I was getting a good bundle value. That was true, however, I did not plan on purchasing a plan. This says you do not need the plan to make the cameras work. This is true, however, my experience has been that the cameras are never online when you do not have a plan. The batteries run out! I have only had the device for 3 months and had to change the batteries twice already. I am on a busy block, however, I did not have motion activated because of the lack of control without a plan. If you have some extra money, this will work. You have to have a plan for it to work properly. I am planning on returning them if I can. I will find something that truly works without a subscription.

While there is a subscription that has added value and features, the experience you are having is not the expected experience one should have without the service. It should not be affecting your battery life, settings, and negatively impacting the service the way you are describing. We would love to troubleshoot further with you to try to see if we can resolve this for you and improve your experience some. Also, there is an optional Sync Module XR device that is sold separately (or in bundles with cameras) that enhances range of your cameras up to 400 additional feet and has a microSD card slot where you can store some video locally allowing for some video recording without subscription. So, there are options available.
