Downfall is they only work with the app, they can not be used for regular ear buds. These are specifically for sleep. I mean they are great for that purpose but for the cost, you can use them for your phone or any other use?!! So I give it a 2 out of 5. The sound quality is there, but nothing else can be done with these which makes them not a wise purchase. I believe Bose figured this out and discontinued these ear buds.

You are correct, the headphones are unable to be connected to your phone to listen to stored music. This is because the music is store on the earbuds to benefit from phone free mode.

I will say they are well made and the sound quality is superb. These Bose sleepbuds II do drown out the snoring from my spouse, but unfortunately were far too uncomfortable for me to get good quality sleep with in my ears. The white noise and beach sounds were relaxing, but I sleep really hard on my side and would be woken with my ears throbbing. I wouldn’t recommend these to people who traditionally sleep on their sides, but if you are a back sleeper, you might love these. The app is nice to pick the sounds you want loaded onto the sleepbuds, they have a wide selection from nature to pure white noise. Sounds for all to choose from. The alarm feature was nice and woke me up much gentler than my phone screaming at me! I did have some issues with charging the sleepbuds at first, but it seemed to resolve quickly. The charging case recharged the sleepbuds 2 and a half times (make sure you leave the case open for the buds to charge). Overall these didn’t work for me, but they are phenomenal in quality and sound as I expected from Bose.

The Sleepbuds II will not stream your own music, audiobooks, or podcasts. Instead, they play specially curated relaxation content to help you fall asleep and masking sounds to keep noises from disturbing sleep. In order to achieve a form factor small enough to be comfortable for sleeping, and accommodate a battery that can support sound playback for an entire night, we made the conscious design decision not to stream audio to Sleepbuds. Instead, the sound files are stored on each of the earbuds and played back locally, dramatically extending the audio playback time achievable in this tiny form factor.
