Caution: This device only works with a few on line services. It does not work with Apple Radio directly. The only way to make it work is to use a Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth signal is so weak, I had to lay the I phone right on top and even then it cut out. Returning it. There are no plans to make this work directly with Apple Music according to Bose.

Bose Wireless SoundTouch Link Adapter

I have been using the Bose Wireless Adapter for a few weeks now. I hooked it up to an older model Sony surround system & it sounds great! It was very easy to hook up. It came with all wires need to make set up super simple. Had a little bit of trouble getting the adapter & the app to work together, but finally got it to work with no further issues. The app was easy to use. The one thing I DID NOT LIKE was the fact that I couldn't listen to my own music that I had downloaded on my phone. I could only listen to stations like Pandora or other radio stations that are programmed in the app. This is great but sometimes you just want to play a particular song from your iTunes library. I really love that your music will keep playing even if you go to watch a video on social media or YouTube. I would recommend this Bose Adapter to anyone who wants to listen to their music wirelessly from their smartphone using Bluetooth.

Great sound & easy to install

I have been using it for about a week and I'm really pleased with its performance. I found the installation and connection quite easy/simple. It comes with optical, RCA (red & white tips) and 3.5 MM (headphone style) cables. In addition, it is quite compact so you can place it almost anywhere within the cable reach. Once connected, there were no problems at all. I used my cellphone to play some music via Bluetooth and the sound was great. Wifi worked just as good. I have not found any cons to report for the time I have been using it.

Hello, wldathrt.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your SoundTouch Wireless Link adapter. We apologize for any inconvenience. This adapter will offer a more convenient experience with newer models of the Cinemate that also include an optical audio input. With the Cinemate Series 1, the adapter can be connected when the cable from your TV is removed from the interface module.
We appreciate your feedback, and we will continue to improve our products and accessories. Though it appears that you have returned the adapter, we hope that you keep us in mind for the future. Have a great day.

Finally a SoundTouch adapter for my Acoustimass 6
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have been waiting for a SoundTouch adapter for my Acoustimass 6 for a long time! Now I can use the Bose SoundTouch app for both my SoundTouch portable in one room and my Acoustimass 6 in the living room. Set up was a little confusing, since there were not set up options for Wi-Fi in the box. They were only set up options for Bluetooth. But I was able to find the documents on the Bose website to easily set it up to work with my existing SoundTouch system. When using the SoundTouch app, I can choose to play the same music on two different SoundTouch speakers in different rooms, or I can play different music in each room. The SoundTouch app is great, although I wish there were more than 6 presets. i plan to get more SoundTouch adapters for other existing speakers in other rooms of my house. Now Bose can finally compete with Sonos!

Connect Old Audio to Wireless & BlueTooth Speakers
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I purchased the Bose SoundTouch Wireless Link to allow connection of my 15 year old, but relatively high quality, audio system consisting of a Harman Kardon Tuner and Bose Acoustimass 5 Series speakers, to an expanded set of wireless Bose SoundTouch (10,20, and 30 series) speakers across the two stories of my home. And to be able to use music application services such as Spotify or to play form my own personal digital library. This small wireless link by Bose was an easy 20 minute set-up using the provided audio cables, and a few minutes to download the BoseConnect Application and set-up for your music and speakers. What an excellent product!! I can now use my turntable for playing old albums, or my tuner with selected local radio stations, or Spotify for my preferred music selection. And this can be broadcast across any of the old or new speakers with the use of the BoseCcnnect iPhone application.
I did consider Sonos wireless speakers, they were less expensive, however comparatively they did not appear to offer the same total system capabilities nor did I feel the quality of sound from Sonos was up to that of Bose.

Did exactly what I wanted

About 15 years ago, I bought in to the Squeezebox systems. I ripped every CD I owned and new ones as I received them onto a NAS server, then streamed them throughout my house to different audio systems through squeezeboxs. Support for squeezebox was no more after Logitech bought them, when one of my devices finally died, I was looking for an alternative. After much research, I purchased this device. I hooked it up to my wifi, pointed it at the server where all of my music was stored, and within 30 minutes of unboxing it, I had the functionality I wanted. Phone apps on IOS and Android are totally acceptable for what I want to do. Based on this I also bought a Bose Soundtouch 30 for a room that needed some good sound. You get access to all of the other myriad of streaming apps as well. Nice infrastructure that Bose has built.

Great Product but Bad Instructions
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Let me say at the outset that this is a great gadget with one caveat....the instructions both with the device and available online are the most inscrutable and difficult to follow I have ever encountered. On the plus side, Bose has excellent phone support with humans to walk you through it. I have a hard-wired, multi-room sound system.
When I examined the instructions, it appeared that the SoundTouch “hockey puck” would connect via your home wifi OR via Bluetooth. The written directions implied that all you had to do was install the Bose app and everything would be easy.....not so.
After opening the app, the initial choices were not easy to make. Bose should say that Bluetooth only has a range of 30 feet while your home network extends to whatever parts of your home you already know. After about the third step, the app screen said, “Choose your speaker” and showed 11 of Bose’s Bluetooth enabled speaker systems. I have a hard-wired home system hooked to a receiver and a 12 channel amplifier; I don’t have any of their “speaker choices” they illustrated. Well, I didn’t look close enough as buried in the middle of the pack was the “hockey puck” wireless adapter I purchased. It is NOT a speaker so the directions should not have been “choose your speaker” but rather, “choose your device. After much (1 hour), pressing the reset buttons, the Bluetooth button on top of the “puck” and back and forth with my android phone’s Bluetooth hookup, I finally got the system to play music from my phone (Pandora) via Bluetooth through my hard-wired home system. However the music would “dropout” periodically as I was at the 30 ft limit of Bluetooth (also separated by one floor).
I have a strong home wifi and hoped I could hook the “puck” to it. Unfortunately, the instructions were of no help to do so. Fortunately, Bose as mentioned, has excellent product 1-800 phone support. The Bose tech confirmed that phone connection to Bose “puck” via WiFi was indeed possible and proceeded to walk me through it. Wow, what a difference!! I can walk around my house now, even out on the deck where I have outdoor speakers and the music is clear and unbroken. No way does Bluetooth have that range.
Bose should do better on their instructions with detailed instructions for EVERY possible hook-up situation: wifi, Bluetooth, wired speaker system, Bluetooth speaker system. I am quite savvy with regard to computers and software but this installation really was confusing.
As I said, now that the Bose “puck” is networked to my wifi as well as via Bluetooth, I can choose either one, however wifi is hands down better. However the wifi configuration will not play stuff from youtube from your phone. Wifi config WILL play Pandora and several other music apps as well as music on your phone. It is a GREAT device and by far EXCEEDS my expectations. I only wish Bose had made it easier to install.

I have been testing the Bose Soundtouch Wireless Link for twoweeks. It has been at my disposal, with no compensation, for the purpose of sharing my unbiased opinion of the product. At the end of the testing period the unit will be shipped back to Bose. The problem is, I don't want to send it back! I have really enjoyed this product. It enables me to play all of my music libraries wirelessly through my home system with ease. You can use your media files from your computer, phone tablet or bluettoooth by downloading a free app. The app is a snap to download and incorporate with your devices. For my purposes I run everything from my tablet and it works great. The unit is very compact and fits just about anywhere. In addition to your own material,Pandora,Sirius, and Internet Radio are available. In all this is a very good product which is easy to use, and provides great results. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Great adapter

I've had the opportunity to use this product for a couple of weeks now and I must say, it is impressive. If you have speakers that do not have wireless capability then this adapter is the way to go. It comes with different connectors to fit almost any speaker situation. It is small enough so that it doesn't take up much space at all and the sound is as expected when using a bose product. One of the reasons I obtained this product is because for some reason I thought I could turn my older ipod video music player into a wireless streaming device. Needless to say it did not work in that way. Wishful thinking I guess, lol. The last experiment I wanted to try was connecting the adapter to my tv that is not a smart tv to see if I can stream through the tv system which theorectically should work. Stay tuned for an update with that one.

My initial impressions of this unit upon opening was it is going to be much easier to install than I thought! It literally only took about 10 minutes and most of that time spent was cleaning up the wires and hooking everything up in a clean manner. I am very picky when it comes to organized wiring.
Sound quality is amazing (Pioneer VSX-80), I had no issues with cutting out, dropping, or stuttering. For me that was very important, sound quality is Number 1! Connecting to my phone (iPhone 6s Plus) was super easy to link to the bluetooth. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow along with.
Overall I am very happy with this product and it is working out very nicely with my Pioneer VSX-80. Although my system offers networking audio its nice to have bluetooth as a backup.

My wife and I are always on the search for new tech item. When we saw this we both jumped at the chance to try it. We are both familiar with the Bose name and quality because we bought the Bose noise canceling headset and was completely blown away with them. The sound touch adapter is an extremely good fit with our Yamaha surround sound system which has Bose speakers. We find the ability to stream our music via blue tooth form our phones, tablets, and laptops to be astounding. The sound quality and the ease of use are awesome. We are 63 and very tech savy but believes that anyone of any tech capabilities will find it easy to use. It’s a very intuitive device and it has great directions. If you’re older or not tech savvy don't be discouraged because it is easy.

This adaptor turns virtually any speakers into a Bluetooth sound system. I have a really nice set of computer speakers and I like to stream music so instead of plugging the speaker into the phone jack, this adaptor allow same to stream it wirelessly. I also have a surround sound system that’s about 6 years old, I love the speakers and the sound from it, but it lacks Bluetooth capability. With this adaptor however, I’m able to use it as a wireless speaker set. I’m excited to get more of these as I saw that I could put them in different speaker sets and play the same thing in essentially every room of the house, which is much simpler than running speaker wire. The sound quality is very impressive on this device!
