    Chancy with non-Bose equipment.

I purchased this product to act as a Bluetooth link from my iPhone 7 to an older high-quality stereo system. I returned it today after three days of frustration. From the other reviews I’d guess that most of the advertised features work if you have Bose equipment and choose to use the wireless link option instead of Bluetooth, but for me it was nothing but frustrating. I agree with other reviewers that say the interface is not intuitive. Also frustrating are the minimal instructions. (There is no downloadable manual available, although the package notes tell you where to get one.) When you first start the app it asks how you would like to link – the options are Wifi and ethernet. Bluetooth pairing is not an option. The online instructions say you can use the app to handle Bluetooth pairing, but I found nothing in the app relating to Bluetooth at all, everything assumed a Wifi connection. There was a brief instruction in the packaging saying to trigger Bluetooth pairing by pressing down on the flexible top of the device (you’d think there would be a Bluetooth symbol to mark the spot), but this was not anywhere else in the online instructions or the app and its very easy to miss. Once working, the Link was still unsatisfactory for me. Linking by Wifi was not satisfactory because I had to plug my phone into my laptop with a cord to play my iTunes library. With Bluetooth I could play everything from my phone, but I had to re-pair the devices manually with every connection. The sound quality for songs in my iTunes library was good, but streamed material sounded much worse through my expensive sound system than if I just linked with a cheap Bluetooth speaker. Also, I lost the connection every hour or two - this doesn’t happen with the cheap speaker. Lastly, the volume had to be set on the very lowest blip on the phone or the volume would overmodulate on the system, meaning I had to use my system remote for volume adjustments. That restricts me to remaining within sight of the front of my system. Volume control through the phone was another of the Link’s advertised features which didn’t work for me. Bottom line, for $30 I’d probably keep it, but for $150 there was no way.

    When it works, it's great.

I'm ready to toss my Bose Wireless Link adapter out the window. About 50% of the time, when I want to use it, it just works. The other 50% of the time I need to re-boot it, by unplugging and restarting it. When it does work, it works for a while (a few minutes to a few hours) then just quits, the speaker disappears from wifi and I have to go re-boot it again. I hate having to do this. My wife refuses to do it. Come on Bose....fix the problem that you know you have!!!!!!

There are cheaper comparables out on the market. Personally, not worth the price for its sole purpose. Returned it.

I bought this for use in my cycling studio because we wanted to invest in the highest quality bluetooth technology and it came with great reviews. After use for three weeks and MUCH trial and error we have encountered numerous issues and honestly I wish I had bought the $20-$40 bluetooth transmitters that work way more effectively than this. The main problems I encountered were that every device used transmitted with a different sound level regardless of app use or not- we used this with Iphone 7, 8, 9, iPad mini, regular Ipad, and two different android phones. On some products the sound was too loud, some just right, and some way too quiet. What a joke! Additionally because of the way the system seems to function all of my Spotify presets don't work including the sound equalizer and the crossfade of songs. We tried many different ways to fix this but inevitably the SoundTouch app overrides all of my Spotify settings and basically ruins my sound experience. On top of all of that it cost 3x most others, the sound quality (on a professional speaker system) is mediocre and honestly is not worth any more than the $20-$40 bluetooth options. Don't waste your money!

    Couldn't connect with ipad

Tried several times to connect to my iphone and ipad and it would never connect. Downloaded the app and even went on Bose website and followed those instructions. Still would not connect. Called the 800 number and waited 20 minutes three days in a row for someone to help, got tired of waiting. Can't truly say if I would recommend it or not since I could not get it to work Also I did not purchase this, I did this as a review only.

not what it was supposed to be

I purchased the soundtouch wireless link and the Soundtoch10 speaker. The salesman said we could hook the link to the TV and then blue took the speaker and we could hear the tv through the speaker (wireless). My husband is very hard of hearing and we thought this would be perfect. We already have a Bose sound bar (it's a few years old). Can someone help and tell me if we should be able to hear the TV through the speaker or will it only play music?

We are sorry for the confusion. This adapter is designed to receive music from a smartphone/tablet/computer and connect to an audio system as opposed to a wireless TV speaker. You can, however, connect your SoundTouch 10 speaker with a wired connection. If you'd like help making that happen, feel free to give us a ring. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073.
