Wireless but tethered to the wall by a power cord
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe I read it wrong. I was looking for a wireless scanner that I didn't have to leave plugging in to work. I paid almost $300 and I got this. "Wireless" because it has wifi capabilities. But if you unplug it, it becomes a glorified paperweight. Needless to say, it is going back. If you don't mind the cord, it does scan double-sided in one pass and quickly. Don't load too many pages at once because it will get jammed. It gets jammed A LOT. Also, the top pops up if too many thick papers try to get fed in at once. It is easy to remove jams and push back down. I wish the side guide panels were a little bigger and clicked into place. Just placing a couple sheets on them too quickly is enough to get them to unadjust. They should fix that.

I like Epson so much better
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a back up portable scanner and a friend told me he loves his brother so I got this one for a back up. I've had this scanner for over a year and have used it ONE time! My Epson I can use without being plugged in - this one needs to be plugged in while using. If your looking for a portable scanner that's wifi direct I would definitely go with the epson ES-300 over this Brother!

Good scanner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only been using this scanner for about a month and have yet to try all the features, but I like it thus far. Set up was much easier than I anticipated. One may use wired or wireless connectivity. It's a portable/smaller size, but you do need a power source since it lacks a battery (which I don't mind). Some parts feel like they're made of cheap plastic (because they are), but that's the what you get when you spend $250 vs. $600+ on a scanner. It's a bit overpriced, but is quick enough and I'm hopeful it will work well for my home scanning needs.

Enough for my needs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has a small footprint and was easy to set up. I had mistakenly thought I could connect it using Bluetooth. Other than that, it works for what I need it to do.

Blurry grayscale scans at 300dpi
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this scanner to replace an all-in-one ink jet printer with document scanning capabilities. I'm using this with a Mac, and if you are a Mac user, you know how easy it is to get started with multifunction printers and scanners. it literally takes 90 seconds. That's what I was expecting when I got this device. Unfortunately, it cannot be installed using Mac OS' Printers & Scanners preferences. It seemed to take an unusually long time to get this going (maybe 20 minutes, and I'm pretty fast at setting this stuff up). I really wanted to like this scanner, but it scans blurry when using the 300dpi grayscale setting. If you use Color or Black & White, or Grayscale in 600 DPI or higher, the scans are clear. I thought that I would just use the 600 DPI option for scans. However, this creates file sizes that are just too large for archival purposes. The Brother scan software doesn't allow you to use the high compression PDF option unless you use..... 300 DPI. It just seemed like a waste of money to pay this much for a scanner that can’t make quality grayscale scans for documents. The scanner also has flimsy paper support, so the documents sometimes scan with a slight slant. I ended up returning this scanner and I’m going to pay a little more for something that actually works well at scanning documents.

Great Scans!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little work horse. I do several scans daily and this is working wonderfully. I use it independently and scan to a USB drive. Scans are very clear. Would highly recommend.

Works great for my uses.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Fujitsu SnapScan that worked great, but was not compatible with the newer Mac OS. I was looking for a replacement that was less expensive and more portable. The Brother scanner fit the bill.

Feeder always jams
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 20 page loading is a joke. If I put in more than 5 pages it jams by pulling in 3+ pages at a time. The pages are in reasonable condition. Defeats purpose of a multi-page feeder for scanner. Debating on returning this if this keeps up. The other fun problem? Re-ordering the pages when it keeps going because it doesn't detect that it just fed 5 pages through.
