Say it with me - Oh BROTHER!! What a printer!!

So far, I am highly impressed with the Brother 4355 Wireless Color Inkjet All-In-One Printer. You will need to download the app onto your smartphone to set it up. Have your WiFi network and password ready so that you can link the printer to your network. The printer works fine but I had a difficult time setting up scanner through WiFi to link to PC so I ended up purchasing a Printer to USB-C cable at my local Best Buy. On the other hand, it is VERY easy to sync up printer with your phone using the Brother App. And yes the Brother 4355 Wireless Color Inkjet All-In-One Printer is on the list of Windows 11 compatible printer/copier/scanners but for whatever reason it refused every attempt to act as a scanner and I did attempt several times to manually enter the proper information to have it hook up as well as enable all necessary settings in the computers but neither a Windows 11 laptop or a Macbook Pro (bought by myself about 3.5 years ago at Best Buy!) would see the unit as anything other than a scanner/copier. Until buying a Printer to USB-C cable and then the Windows 11 laptop connected. Not a big deal but a bit of a...puzzlement. I also checked for driver updates for the printer but to no avail. At the time of writing this I have not tried to connect the Macbook via cable to the printer. The print quality and color from this machine is excellent! It is also capable of printing photographs but I have yet to do so but this feature is worthy of mention as I have no doubt I will find it useful in the future as will many of you. My daughter home-schools our 3 grandchildren and often works out of our house. We can easily print lots of worksheets, colorful curriculum pages, and fun projects. I really like how you can monitor ink levels on the app so you don't find yourself running out when you really need it. That is an excellent feature on the Brother 4355 Wireless Color Inkjet All-In-One Printer and even though it can print hundreds of pages before requiring new ink cartridges, it is fantastic being able to track the levels! All-in-all a great product once you get through a mildly tedious set-up. The ONLY reason for my 4 STAR rating is the inability of Mac or Windows 11 to recognize the scanner in this otherwise excellent all-in-one. Except of course when the Windows 11 laptop is hardwired via the Printer to USB-C cable, which by the way is plugged into the TOP of the printer and routed out via a nice "cable path" from under the lid of the unit. Cool indeed! And yes, I think this printer is FANTASTIC and I highly recommend it to anyone with the need for a versatile, powerful and capable printer, copier and (with a Printer to USB-C cable!) scanner!

Brother has long been associated in the market as the printer brand that is cheaper, more accessible, and value focused. Brother, even in the commercial space, has offered great values compared to the competition. This is no less true today, when other manufacturers attempt to turn ink into a subscription service, Brother brings the Inkvestment line with its generous ink amounts. Brother’s latest Inkvestment printer, the MFC-J4355, is a great MFC device. Inside the box you’ll find a well secured printer, some paperwork, a power cord, and the starter cartridges. There are a few pieces of tape that secure the printer in transit, but they’re pretty easy to remove. Setup is pretty easy. After plugging in the printer, it will display a QR code that directs you to the app for setup. You can also setup via USB cable (USB-B to USB-A, not included), but the phone setup was preferable for me. The USB port hides under the service hatch, and is odd in its placement, requiring you to snake it in wasting a good 10+ inches of cable. It’s no huge loss as the WiFi is reliable. The setup guides you through the installation of the Inkvestment cartridges. The printer takes its time during this stage (about 10 minutes) where it fills the internal tanks from the Inkvestment cartridges (the LC506). The brother Inkvestment printers use this sort of hybrid approach, where there is an internal tank which is filled from these cartridges - which are installed very much like like traditional cartridges. The advantage here is that you can replace these before you run out of ink, and while not cheap, they offer a much better value than many competitors. After filling the tank, it will prompt you to insert paper to the main paper tray and print an alignment and test sheet. This sheet is then scanned and used to ensure the printer is properly aligned and configured. Once connected (via a WiFi access point the printer exposes), the phone can configure the printer fairly quickly. After connecting to your WiFi network, it exposes itself on your internal network through industry standard protocols. No matter a Mac, PC, iPhone, or Android device, the printer showed up quickly and worked immediately. Airprint is supported, as well as just general mDNS support for printer discovery. Windows downloads the correct driver quickly, and because this is from a common family of printers (the MFC-J4335 is extraordinarily similar), the compatibility is quite high. Besides the device compatibility, there is a long list of apps that this printer can use on the device. The 1.8” display, while ‘stunning’ in the marketing documentation is really anything but. It is however serviceable for occasional app connections. I would probably not want to use this small screen and menu if I was printing from my Google drive on a regular basis, but the capability to connect it and use it is a nice touch. This is something that brother really has had in their printers for well over a decade at this point, and I like that they continue to offer this on their smart printers. You’ll find connections for the Office products, Onedrive, Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Google Docs, and more. Print quality wise, I found this brother to be quite good. While not as precise as a good laser, the alignment was excellent out of the box. Text was a bit softer than I’ve had with some other ink jets, but it still appears quite crisp at normal font sizes. Color banding on gradients was quite smooth until less than 20% of the color saturation. Printing text was lightening fast, with paper out in seconds and getting shoved from the print tray with force. The rated speed is 20ppm, with up to 19 color. Of course if you use the sensible feature of duplexing, that speed goes down to closer to 5 pages per minute (both sides). However, automatic duplexing in a printer this affordable is impressive and I’m quite pleased that it has it. Photo quality is acceptable. On regular paper, contrast is pretty bad. Photo paper improves this situation quite a bit. Overall I wouldn’t buy this specifically for photos, but it definitely could print a few 5x7’s for the office desk. The MFC portion of the MFC-J4355 is pretty solid as well. You get not only scanner and copier functionality, but also fax. If you don’t need the fax, that’s fine, but there is a modem still built in and you can use it to send faxes (untested, but I believe it). The printer offers not only a flat bed scanner, but also an ADF (automatic document feeder). While this scanner doesn’t auto duplex, it does make it trivial to send a multi-page fax or scan physical mail to a single document if you’re trying to go paper free. The MFC-J4355’s feature set, while great for the average consumer, is really perfect for many SOHO scenarios. The solid printing, scanning, and MFC capabilities are really huge positives over the normal home user’s needs. This is a great productivity printer that will fill many people’s needs while also offering fair and affordable ink. Brother has long been associated with affordable laser printers, and their ink jets are also to be taken seriously in this space. With the Inkvestment approach, and a sensible feature set and design, the J4355 should be at the forefront of printers to consider.

    Compact unit, great quality prints

This is my first inkjet printer in a long while. I like that Brother’s INKvestment line of printers have an internal sealed tank for storing the ink which is meant to increase the printer’s capacity, touting up to 1-year of ink out of the box (1800 black and white and 750 color page yields) and reducing the need to purchase and replace cartridges as often. However, keep in mind that the printer will still need to perform cleaning of the print heads to ensure consistent print quality, if there are long periods of time between printing which could waste ink and reduce overall printer output. This printer also comes with a free trial of Brother’s ‘Refresh EZ Print Subscription’ which automatically sends you ink at a discount when your machine starts running low. This all-in-one printer is compact while still being able to hold up to 150 sheets of paper in the tray. It weighs about 20 lbs and has a small footprint perfect for a small office or using on a desk. There’s a 20-sheet capacity auto-document feeder on top for faxing, copying, and scanning up to legal size documents, though note that it is not able to perform single-pass dual-sided scanning. Two-sided pages must be manually flipped over, in order, to scan the opposite sides, and there doesn’t appear to be a way to automatically collate the pages. The scanner glass for manual scanning accommodates sheets up to A4 size. At the back is a manual feed slot for specialty papers, card stock, and envelopes, so you’ll want to keep some clearance behind it for that and clearing paper jams as well. On the left-hand-side are two telephone jacks, one for the fax line, and the other for a pass-through telephone connection. Setting up the printer was very easy using the mobile app and guided instructions on the 1.8” diagonal color LCD on the front of the printer. Just note that you’ll need to register and login into a Brother account to use the Brother iPrint&Scan computer software and Mobile Connect app. You get four starter cartridges: black, cyan, yellow, and magenta, and they are easy to install in the compartment on the front with a firm press. The printer can connect to your network or computer via WiFi or USB but does not have an Ethernet port. You can also connect to it using WiFi Direct, so it does not need to be on your network at all. Scanning can be initiated from the printer itself or via the software, and I had no issue with my computer finding the device on my network and scanning to my computer. If connected to the internet, you can scan to the web as well to repositories like Google Drive, Dropbox, One Drive, and Evernote, among others. Scans are accurate and clear though may produce mirrored ghosting if your originals are double-sided; however, there is a setting that can help remove bleed-through, patterns, or background colors that is pretty effective. Scan resolution can be set from 100 dpi up to 1200 dpi, though note with higher resolutions the scanner may make several passes and take several minutes to complete the scan. As for print quality, this printer does a very nice job with printing plain black and white text in documents. The lettering is clear, clean, and crisp with no soft or blurry edges and lines are straight, even, and uniformly spaced. The color images that this printer outputs are finely detailed without banding when reproducing color gradients. Photos are vivid, well-saturated, and color accurate appearing very close to photo quality, even on plain printer paper. While print speeds are rated to 19 and 20 pages per minute for black and color pages, note that printing a full-page color photo can take several minutes. One advantage that this printer has over laser printers is the ability to print borderless photos, or edge-to-edge, which can also be useful when printing brochures for business. Overall, whether printing duplex text documents from my computer or color photos from my cell phone, the printer woke up and printed with impressive speed and quality. There are multiple ways to connect to it, and you’ll have the convenience of integrating with web apps with an internet connection. It handles everyday office tasks like faxing, copying, and scanning though isn’t as convenient if you often need to scan or copy dual-sided original documents.

Good for home and small office, great prints

This has been a great printer in testing. As a multi-function printer, it does its job well for a home or small office. It hits all of my requirements which are great print quality, a duplexer, top loading scanner, and various connectivity options. Setup: This could be a bit simpler. To get the printer set up you will need to scan a QR code, hook up to the printer Wi-Fi, then set up the Wi-Fi network. After this, you need to align print heads and update firmware as needed. It does not sound like many steps but it feels clunky as you use the arrows on the printer to acknowledge menu options. It just feels like it could be a simpler route to do this. Otherwise it all worked well with the first test prints looking nice. I tested the setup of the software on my x86 Intel and ARM Snapdragon X Elite machines. The software installed fine on x86 but had issues installing the official software on ARM. Luckily the printer installed its own Windows drivers from the “devices” page on Windows settings and it was able to print with no issues. Print quality: I printed a few duplex color pages and some 4x6 photos to test the print quality. The regular duplex prints came out with very crisp text and uniform colors where needed at a good print speed. The photo print at “best” quality came out great with no banding in the colors whatsoever on glossy paper. This was using the default Windows print software, but there is Brother “iPrint and Scan” software available on the Brother website along with drivers and firmware tools if needed. Connectivity: Wi-Fi is how I had my printer set up, though there is an Ethernet port, phone line and a weirdly placed USB B port which is underneath the top feeder (pictured). I assume this is not meant for normal connections with your computer for printing, but for isolated usage due to its awkward location. Ink: Included with the printer are CMY BK inks. After printing a few photos, I did not see any obvious decrease so I hope they last. They are very easy to install in the front right of the printer (pictured) and simply need to be shaken and pushed in their spot to install.

I worked with several printers over the years and so far, Brother is one of my favorite brands. It is easy to work with good at what it does. *Set Up* Setting it up was quick and simple. It involved connecting it to the internet, downloading the app, and waiting for the ink to dispense into the tank and update its firmware. It took about ten minutes to get it up and running. After that I was able to find it with all my devices with no issue. *Quality of Printer* The material the printer is made of feels high quality. It is made of durable plastic. The only part I have an issue with is the paper output tray because when I pull out the extension tab, the whole tray comes out. I’m not sure if it is designed this way intentionally to clear certain jams, but sometimes I press print before realizing I haven’t extended the tray and end up causing a jam when I go and extend it and whole thing pops out. Besides this one issue, everything else is well-designed. The ink cartridge compartment is readily accessible from the outside and the ink pops in easily. There is a separate extendable input tray tucked conspicuously in the back for photo and other thicker paper to prevent bending or jamming. *Print Quality* -Text: On “normal,” the print of text is quite good. There is no feathering, the letters are crisp, clear, and pleasing to read. There is evidence that it is saving ink, because of slight unevenness in saturation, but this requires close inspection and large letters to really notice. Even with this it is honestly better than other printers I have used. When using the “best” setting, the text quality is superb – evenly and deeply saturated, crisp, and presentation worthy. -Color/Photo: The quality of color print is great. I printed pictures on the “best” setting and they were true to color and very close to the original. I printed a photo from my phone using the app and it did a wonderful job. The colors are not as vivid or vibrant as the digital photo but it the definition and clarity are outstanding. -Ink: I have been printing constantly over the past few days and have barely put a dent on the ink levels. As someone who works from home and has school-aged children, not needing to worry about constantly replacing ink is a highly appreciated feature. -Scan and Copy: This printer scans wonderfully. At lower resolutions it scans in seconds with great scans above 200dpi. At the highest resolution it takes about a minute, but it is worth it if the resolution is needed. The scan and copy capability provide an almost identical replica of the original, particularly at the “best” setting. *Connectivity* I particularly commend this printer on its Wi-Fi connectivity and discoverability. I have had issues concerning this with other printers but once this printer is connected with the Wi-Fi, it becomes discoverable by any device that is using that Wi-Fi. I seamlessly switched from my other printer to this one without having to download apps or go through any hassle whatsoever. *App* The Brother app is intuitive, easy to work with, and informative. It is one of the few printer apps I actually enjoy using. Brother uses a very streamlined approach and makes printing from my phone a breeze. *Conclusion* The Brother 4355 is absolutely worth considering for anyone looking for an all-in-one printer. It has a low-profile, has exceptional connectivity and discoverability, great quality of prints and scans, and provides convenience with its INKvestment tank. The only detractor I found was the pull-out tray, which is minimal in my opinion, considering all the positives this printer provides.

    The Best Brother I Know

This is possibly the easiest time that I've had setting up a Brother printer in a long time. That being said, I want to say that this is also the easiest Brother machine that i've evr had the chance to use.Brother isn't a bad company, by any means. I've just had more complications on the initial start-up than now, in the past. I'm very pleased with that. The Box holds the MFC-J4355DW Inkjet and 4 ink cartridges. You also get a your usual warranty and product care paperwork( among other papers, of course), but those really aren't necessary, as the QR code will allow you to set up your printer with relative ease. It took me about 15 minutes, including installing updates, ink and paper loading. Don't forget to take off all of the tape. There isn't that may pieces this go 'round, so it shouldn't be much of a hindrance. The papaer tray is located in the front, as usual, but there's also a slot in the back for feeding those Fax'ables( My own word. Patient pending.) If you are fortunate enough to still own a LAN line, like myself, you can be privied to the fll use of said Fax feature. Also, there's a scan bay up top. This is a great all-around printer for small business and rafts alike. Plus, the ink really isn't that expensive when it comes to Brother printers, so i'm sure this won't change that much. I don't give 5 stars ot easily, but this one truly deserves it's flowers. I love this printer, so far.

This is another brother printer we own, the first ones were for my bigger office and this one is for the house and small office and it has been working well. First, it arrived intact, nicely packaged with ink, cable and easy to follow instructions. The setup is easy, wired and wireless, the wireless option enables us to move the printer to any room of the house and print as we like. We’ve used it for school papers, projects and also for our office at home. We really like that it is a color printer that does not need much maintenance, and it does everything we need. It prints from our phones, laptops as well as our pcs. It copies easily and it faxes in case we need to, for the most part we scan and email and it does it flawlessly. The display tilts for easy to view right in front or at an angle. The printer holds plenty of paper and we do not have to refill often. The colors are vivid and sharp, and the cartridges are easy to change at any time. I did not expect it to be like the brother printer I have at the office since that one is bigger, uses toner and it is more expensive, this is a budget friendly printer that can be used at home or in a small office. It is a reliable and useful printer that we are happy to have at home.

This brother printer is getting the job done! It’s a wireless all in one and works great. Print quality is good and paper tray adjusts to accommodate various paper sizes including envelopes. I complete numerous mailings and this printer is perfect for my needs. I wish the paper tray was sturdier but that is my only criticism. It is a bit delicate, made of thin plastic. That said I don’t think this printer can be beaten for the price. I would highly recommend.
