The upgrade to the app is great as you can block out areas that regularly move and be notified when you need to be... rather than when the movie changes! LOL Night Vision is awesome and the speaker/mic feature is a great way to find out exactly what is happening on your property.

But everything works, but understand that if someone breaks into you ur house, it is up to you to react to the notification to either sound the alarm or call cops. It will not do it automatically.

It was decent in the beginning but after time with all the new system and app updates it’s gone nothing but downhill. I have really high speed internet at home and it’s wired directly to my router and the lag and video quality is nothing but upsetting. And u don’t get all the Benefits of the camera unless you get a membership!! Wish Ring came out with a system for inside the house. Hope this was helpful

We’re sorry to hear that your experience with Canary has not been great. We do regularly release updates that include new features and improvements to our system. We recently released an update that dramatically reduces the latency of video streaming. Prior to this release, you may have experienced a delay of about 5 seconds (sometimes more depending on the environment) between what you saw in the Canary app and the activity that was actually occurring. With our improved Watch Live experience, the latency has decreased, giving you a virtually real-time stream. To experience this, you’ll want to make sure that your app is running the latest version (currently 2.9.0).
One note about video quality: To achieve real-time streaming, the video quality being streamed while watching live automatically adjusts to the upload strength (of your home internet) and the download strength (of your phone’s connection). At the same time, the video being recorded is actually recorded at full quality even if the quality of what you see while watching live is adjusted down to account for the current conditions of the internet connection. This could explain what you’re experiencing. If you navigate to your timeline and watch the recorded video clips you should notice that they are full quality. If you are still experiencing issues please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

However, when I purchased the camera it included free monitoring so while they started to add more features, they decided that even those who were promised free monitoring would have to pay a $10 monthly fee. I have one year free but after tha im going elsewhere because I don’t like their practices or excuses as to why they did that.

It gives a wonderful view of wherever you have it pointed. Once you have it synced with your cell it knows when you leave the house. It also tells you the air quality of your home environment . Before you leave the house make sure you don't leave the TV on. It will see that as "motion detected"while you're away. Just for added kicks I also purchased the RING digital doorbell. The two together are great and customer service is good on both if you need additional pointers. What would make it better would be a battery backup in case of power failure.

Good but missing some free features

However I now have a cap on my high speed internet data so I may not be able to use it. Also, new, nice features are available such as speaking through the unit but only with a paid membership which some competitive products do not require. Based on this I would recommend a different product with the features for free.

Great for small homes

Awesome in an open concept home. The alert is delayed about 30-60 seconds but the picture is clear. Night vision is clear. Has temperature alaert change. Sound is clear as well. Overall, the canary works great! Worth the money!

I'm still working out the kinks. The unit itself is great! Easy to setup. Easy to use. My problems are around interfacing with Wink. The Wink interface is very limited and doesn't seem to work consistently. Slow to respond and sometimes doesn't respond at all. Some of it is me, I'm sure. Bottom line... it's a pretty good solution for someone who want to actively monitor a home, business and etc.
