Coverage and support is not what it should be. The app has holding time before u can see video..

Didnt work well and had to sign up for a monthly fee to use the options. I returned it.

When it comes to technology I am incredibly picky and a near perfectionist (with some understanding that bugs and continuing development do occur). We tried several other cameras prior to purchasing the Canary and experienced issues/complications that just didn't meet our needs (poor sound quality, difficult to review video, time consuming to configure, etc.). We did not want a NestCam simply due to the expensive monthly/annual fees per camera and my wife spotted the Canary at Best Buy. I had my hesitations and spent nearly a half hour reading reviews and decided to try it and was happily surprised. One of the best features for me is that it does not look like a camera. The sound quality has been superb and the video across iPad, iPhone, and Android phones within our household has been excellent. The next day I ended up purchasing a second one for another room of my house, especially after noticing the monthly subscription for video storage is for up to 4 cameras. Like anything I did find bugs in the software and there is room for some improvement (such as accessing video's via Smart TV or Laptop for review) but I'm confident they will get there. I have reported issues to technical support and received timely responses and while they [bugs] are irritating (pauses during some videos, inability to view entire video sometimes on the timeline), downloading them directly to my phone seems to resolve most. If it weren't for these subtle issues I'd rate it a 5.

Wow... This thing is amazing. If not only for peace of mind (My boyfriend works late so I usually am the first one to our apartment.) I love the fact that I can check on my dog at any point of the day. Setup: Super simple! Took me about 15 minutes. The app you download walks you through it step by step. The app: I have an Iphone 6+ and it looks great. I love that you can see when you and your household members leave and come home as well as all the data that it collects about the space (air, temperature, humidity) The Canary: WAY smaller than I thought it was going to be. Super easy to hide away so its not super obvious what it is. The design is nice too. It doesn't look totally out of place. I also like the indicator light on the bottom so you know if its on or not if your phone isn't super cool. The quality of the camera exceeded my expectations. I can't believe it can get our whole apartment with just one canary. I live in a one bedroom so it's not huge but the wide angle is great. Also the fact that they have night vision is really cool! You should definitely try this out. Its so much cheaper than a typical system and the technology is great!

Very easy to set up. Connection to the app and to wi-fi was pretty seamless. Video is very clear and audio works well. I was really shocked at just how much the wide angle captures. Just started noticing that even when I forget to arm the device that it is actually automatically monitoring activity when I leave the house with my phone. Fortunately I have not had any break-ins so the only thing that I get alerts for are my dog moving past the unit or my return home. Overall I think it's great for a small apartment in NYC. I have always thought it would be nice to have some kind of home security system. But as a renter it just wasn't worth the cost or time of installation. This really solves that problem. Also love the fact that it monitors temp, humidity and air quality. One thing that I would like to see though is automatic alerts for change in temp or air quality. Also would be nice to be able to export video clips in case there was something that you wanted to save like the dog doing stupid stuff or in the case of an actual crime being able to save evidence for police or insurance. I understand that's what the premium storage plans are for but some options for those of us who aren't going to subscribe would be great. Maybe limit the amount of data that can be exported for those who do not subscribe to premium plans? Overall this thing great though. Really glad I got it.

Poor notifications when motion was detected. By the time you get notifications that someone is in your home they will be long gone. That's if you get any notifications at all. I returned it and will something more reliable.

Canary makes sense to me and my wife: It takes care of our home, gives us all the info we need on our phones, and applies smart logic (such as whether you're at home or not) to make this as seamless as possible. We love it! We set our Canary up in our NYC apartment two weeks ago, and it's great to get notifications when people are coming to our apartment (plumber, superintendent, cleaning lady, etc.), ewhich means we can check in at home to make sure everything's ok. Set-up was straight forward, the Canary looks nice. The live view option had a few issues for some days, but the last week it has been working well! Other than that, I like that the timeline shows enough videos and lets us save them without paying a subscription plan. We appreciate that it arms and disarms itself when we leave or come back home - I might forget sometimes otherwise. All in all, We are very happy we got it!

Not very good to recall videos. Hard time seeing real time

Received my Canary Security device 3 weeks ago. When I opened the box I was immediately impressed, Even the packaging was well thought out and classy. Set up was a breeze although I did have to change my Wi-Fi security method to a password based security, as the Canary doesn't provide is MAC address. One possible solution if you MAC address filtering as your security temporarily open your network connect the Canary and then look at your network to get the MAC address of the device. Or of course do like I did and just switch to WPA or similar Protection Al in all with the switch my canary was up and running in fewer than 10 min. Out side of a few temporary network glitches the device has been flawless in its operation. It’s aesthetically pleasing and unnoticeable. Build quality is that of an "Apple" device. It has been a very "Nice to have" product giving us the ability to check on the dog, see when the kids get home and even Catch a few funny moments, including an Easter candy theft. Canary Connect seems to be on the right track with this device making software and network improvements based on user feedback. Some suggestions I would include for the software side would be; Setup and access via web browser. The iOS/Android connect is easy, just would be nice to be able to us my computer if I wanted & saving & managing video clips (I hear all of this is coming soon). Do to the temperature and humidity monitoring this device would be awesome for an instrument / studio room or collectables room or anyplace where temp/humidity could be damaging, I will be purchasing a second canary for my music studio soon. Pros: Easy Setup, Unobtrusive design, Continued progress and new features, Friendly support staff welcomes feedback, Peace of mind. Cons: You’re at the mercy of your service providers, if you look electricity or Internet the canary no longer sings. Hopefully canary 2.0 comes with battery backup and internal memory storage, maybe even GPS chip. In closing I recommend this device, the price is reasonable for the quality of the product. The service is constantly improving with new features on the way. I give the device an "A" Rating.

I've been using my Canary for a few weeks now and I'm very happy with the device. A few highlights for me - setup was extremely easy and I like the polished and small design. As a female living alone, with a busy travel schedule and long work hours, I enjoy knowing that my apartment and belongings are safe. Also, I have a side job as a dog sitter and it's helpful and simple to check on the animals while I'm at the office. This is my first time owning a home security device and I would definitely recommend this product.

Not at all what I expected, did not perform as promised. I bought this to keep an eye on our apartment while on vacation. It shut off a couple of times. There are cheaper products that do alot more. Customer service was horrible. This product is in a box in a closet.

Okay, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement. My marriage is still on the rocks. HOWEVER: The sheer quality of the device's video, combined with the app, makes this thing way more useful than I had originally thought. I bought it for security purposes, but the lady and I were hooked on it from the jump and began brainstorming how else to use it: We home-brewed our very own b-movie version of Paranormal Activity. Guest starring Puppington the Boston Terrier as "Demon Covered In Blanket Walking Around Aimlessly". We leave it "armed" all the time so that when one of us gets home before the other, we jump in front of it and do a silly dance, which then pings the other person to watch via the app. One time I did a very serious dance, which the device had no trouble recording despite how serious it was. Lastly, I used it to prank my mother when she stayed at our house this weekend. The app pinged me while I was out to show that she walked into the kitchen and had failed at trying to open a closet door, so I called her from a phone at work and said in my best Christian Bale Batman voice, "THE CLOSET OPENS UP THE VERY GATES OF HELL! DO NOT TAMPER IN THE AFFAIRS OF THE GODS!" Overall, 5 stars for sure. Awesome system. I can't wait for someone to rob me.

Bought this product because it came with a good free plan for monitoring, but the comapny suddenly decided to completely change the free paln and charge for the service. I would not recommend this at all, and would return if I could.

Just recently purchased Canary. I have heard a lot of good things on other review sites and in the news so i thought i'd give it a try. I can't stop raving about this little device. Here's my take. Packaging - very Apple-esque. Simplistic, modern, straight forward. couldn't have been better. The device blends in with almost any decor, looks and feels very sturdy, and can be placed discretely. Installation - Could not have been any easier. Had the unit up and running in just a few minutes. No busy manual to read. Just download the free iphone app and it walks you through all the steps. From setting up your canary account to hooking up to your WiFi network, to adding additional members....this could not be more simple. even my parents found it very easy to follow. which brings me to the added benefit of this. its simple set up is great for parents or the technically naive. User interface - very slick and easy to follow. The device works just as advertised. It allows me to monitor my home while i am away. Allows me to alarm and disarm as needed and watch my home as needed. i have the option of remotely sounding the alarm or deactivating. Best part, i can add additional family members to the device so that it can automatically deactivate when they come home. I have had ADT in the past and although, it provides a monitored service (i was told that this is/will be an option with Canary as well), i don't have ridiculous fees to pay each month. Plus, any video surveillance add on for ADT is so much more expensive. With Canary, i can a add a few to cover different parts of my home. No need for hard wiring! One of the best features is it can be used as a nanny cam. many nanny cams from the babies store are limited in its functions, expensive, or limited on its channels for use. this works perfect as a nanny cam. and since it is so small, i can take it to the grandparents and still be watching them when i need to. Overall, a great smart security device without the hassle of hard wiring or monthly costs!

We have always had a security system in our home and paid a monthly fee for monitoring. We saw this product and decided to try it and save money as well. It was easy to set up and the clarity of the video is very good. Now we can monitor what goes on in our home such as the dog sleeping on the bed and the cleaning service doing their job and being notified of any suspicious entries. This product will pay for itself in less than a year and continue to provide us the security we expect.

The device is small, modern and sleek looking. Set up for me was easy and the app works great on my Android phone. When I bought my apartment it came with an alarm system, but there were expensive monthly fees to keep up the response/monitoring service. I have cancelled that service now. This device is so much simpler, there are no monthly fees, and it feels more secure to know that if there is an alert / intrusion I'll be able to see it myself, and that the intrusion would be caught on video. Also, the device comes with stickers for your front door to alert any would-be intruders that active video monitoring is being done by Canary. So all in all, it feels like a cheaper and more effective home security solution for me. In addition to the security, it is also a fun gadget. It has some interesting features for monitoring air temperature, humidity and quality. It will be interesting to see how these vary once summer starts and I'm running AC.

My wife and I have been using Canary for a few weeks now. Setup was quick and easy. It arms automatically when we leave the apartment, and it’s really nice to be able to open the app and see who’s home. We had issues with false alarms at first, but those mostly cleared up when we moved it to the opposite side of the room. I recently learned that you can also identify false alarms in the app to help it learn over time. No intruders yet, but I did get a notification when our dog escaped the bathroom while we were gone. The video and audio quality were great even though our wifi is a bit spotty. We live in an apartment, so our options for security are limited, but Canary has been a great fit.

This was a great addition to my single, one-bedroom apartment life. Living alone on the second floor of my NYC downtown apartment, while a bit of a dream, does make me anxious at times about my personal safety, as well as the security of my home. Having just gone out of town for over a month, it was very reassuring to know that I would be alerted immediately if there was anything happening in my apartment. This was also a good way of making sure my friends were actually watering my plants and picking up my mail :) A few things I really like about my canary: - ability to check temperature and air quality (having had several radiator issues in my building in the past) - peace of mind that comes with knowing everything is monitored at all times - ability to download recordings to my mobile device - early interaction with customer support was very positive - ability to automate security modes from armed, disarmed, private (good for when you don't remember to turn it off) - ongoing app updates making continued use better each day A few things I would like to see improve: - ability to get alerts around HomeHealth (temp drop, air quality change, etc. - per individual settings) - ability to talk through Canary (useful in Watch Live scenarios) - sensitivity to light change and very small movements is a little high - though I admit I haven't done such a good job of tagging activities and this may get better if I did that Having been very happy with my experience, I actually just bought my brother a canary for Christmas for his one bedroom apartment!

Worked wonderful. Caught a thief...a Home Health Aide stealing cash from my disabled brother. Watched this live while I was at work. Doesn't appear to be a camera. Left it sitting on his bureau and she was very visible because of the wide angle that it gives. Able to transfer easily to police computer. Now the policeman is purchasing for his home after seeing videos.

I bought my Canary to replace my security cameras run by a Savant system. Setup was simple, fast and required no training. The app is great and makes setup a breeze. I setup my canary over the fireplace facing the front door. I must say I was really impressed with the video quality and the ability to zoom 3x. The live feed video and audio is great. A very cool thing, and unexpected, was after I input my address the correct Police and Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services phone numbers were auto populated… very cool. So far I’m really happy with my purchase and I will be buying one more Canary to cover my house’s back door.
