I was not impressed with the camera. the footage is not smooth (jumps around and skip seconds). it can not show a picture in the dark.

I hooked up system and it didn't work. The wifi capabilities are very weak. In order for this to work you practically have to stand next to the camera.

You have to pay for a monthly service to enjoy all of the features. Better camera's on the market.

I feel like my home is more secure now than it ever was with our security company. I am able to monitor whats happening in my house in real time, without relying on some "monitoring" service that costs a monthly fee. It also has some other useful features like temperature, humidity, air quality, and can tell if other family members are home or not. The device was easy to set up and the app is very intuitive. I plan to buy more for other locations around my house.

I have a Canary set up in my home with my family, and I can't believe how attached I've become. It's so awesome to be able to check in on my dog while we're all out of the house, and when we go on Vacation, I will have a new sense of comfort knowing my home is safe. What's also really great is being able to make sure my babysitter is doing what she's supposed to. The camera quality is excellent, both in regular and night vision, and the notifications are instantaneous. This is a five star product, and I'm so excited to see what this company will have to offer in the future.

Obviously, the best thing about Canary is that it helps me keep an eye on my home, my belongings, and my family, allowing me to feel safe and protected. Beyond that, in one word, my favorite thing about my Canary is "simplicity." The Canary comes with a handy and comprehensive little booklet that walks you through the entire set up process. After set up, the Canary is so simple to use and so seamlessly gives me peace of mind. At the end of the day, I like to scroll through the day's Timeline to see what activity my Canary has recorded - and there's no fee associated with recording or viewing videos for up to a week! In addition, I love the aesthetics of this wonderful device. The Canary's design is sleek, clean, and modern, which I really appreciate, and the color options (black, white, and silver) can allow all the rooms in my home to benefit from the security of a Canary without it clashing with any of my decor. Rounding out my favorite features of the Canary has to be the HomeHealth technology. I don't have a thermostat, so this function gives me the ability to check the temperature, humidity, and air quality with just a couple of taps. Amazing! Thank you, Canary, for helping me take care of my home, looking over my belongings, not needing a complicated set up, and for doing it all in style!

I was intrigued when I saw this device pop up on Indiegogo, so I bought one. I kicked myself for not buying more than one. When I got my Beta Canary, I was able to set it up in about 10 minutes. The video is crystal clear and while it took a few weeks for the device to learn my patterns it works as advertised. I now am purchasing two more to cover the other floors of my house. When I get a pop-up on my phone and someone asks me what the message is, I enthusiastically show them the updates and video. I have followed this company since they launched their campaign and look forward to new offerings.

Canary has been such a great addition to our home. It fits in beautifully with our decor and provides a great wide angle view of both the living room, kitchen and bedroom. We've been using it as a way to keep tabs on our elderly dog as well as to have peace of mind allowing dog walkers to enter the home, etc. Canary allows us to "be at home" without physically having to be there. The camera quality is great, app UI is simplistic and intuitive... we found the set up to be a no-brainer. 150% satisfied!

slow choppy video hard to use very poor performance

Awesome device! Easy to set up and reliable - it's stayed on the network and functioning since I set it up. I set it up to watch the backdoor of my 12 person house on a college campus, which people often forget to lock. Now, if something happens in our house, I can go back to the video to see if someone we don't know wandered in the back door. It's a dead simple device, and it just works. Looking forward to the feature set building out!

I have to say that I am so happy with our Canary! I usually don’t take the time to write feedback, good or bad. But I feel like the Canary truly changed my everyday life as a new mom. First of all, it was super easy to set everything up. I love the app that keeps me connected at all times. The fact that I can go back and see things that I missed. The amazing video quality which somehow captures such a wide span of space in our apartment. I can zoom in and see so clearly. I decided to write this review after something happened a few days ago which made me very grateful to have this security system. We saw our nanny behaving towards our daughter in a very aggressive fashion which made us extremely uncomfortable. We came home and asked her to leave and were able to show her what she had done on the app. We had let her know that the Canary was always on, but I guess she forgot. Thank goodness we had a way to stay connected to our baby girl and make sure she was well taken care of while we were both at work! Hopefully from now on we can use it to just feel a bit closer to her and watch her happily playing whenever we start missing her during the day.

So, it does not record when you watch live. That sucks. The box says nothing about an annual fee to have it record either, but there is one. That also sucks. I like the functionality of the product, with those two exceptions. It does have a 10 second or so delay when watching live, and you do have to be careful about placement of the unit or you will end up with some choppy video, but that's not unexpected for something live streaming HD video. Make sure you have strong wifi. The video looks good, the IR is pretty clear and the sound quality is good. If it recorded while watching and it advertised the fact that the unit only comes with a "free trial" of recording video, after which there is a fee, this would have gotten 5 stars. The inability to record to the cloud while watching live is a deal breaker for me. What if you are watching a burglary in progress and the damned thing does not record?

I generally like the Canary home security unit. The image quality is impeccable, and it is very intuitive. I haven't yet tried to sound the alarm, but 90 decibels is enough to startle someone out of your house I'm sure. What I would wish for on the next generation of Canary is: a voiceover function that allows you to speak through your phone to a speaker on the Canary unit so that you can speak to and interact with people it sees in your home - this is particularly helpful if you live in a shared house. Overall I think its a really nice, internet-based, means of providing real-time video home security.

Our Canary was well worth the wait! It was a snap to set up making it easy and accessible for anyone looking for an affordable home security option. I feel much more confident when away from the home and appreciate the full perspective on what is happening in my home - from temperature checks to air quality and of course motion detection. Highly recommended product!

I bought the Canary to replace a Dropcam I had setup in my house, I was intrigued by the added features on top of regular video. Right out of the box you can see that the Canary is a different class of product. It has a build quality and packaging that I haven't seen anywhere except for Apple products and the device itself is gorgeous but blends well with a home surrounding. The setup was real simple as everything was included in the box (including really nice thin cables!) and the app walked me through it with real ease - I've setup many connected devices in the past which had many issues, this one was a breeze. Once setup it's easy to use and functions very well as a home security camera. The added features of monitoring your home environment are a nice to have but still lack a real use for me, I'm looking forward for Canary to add more logic behind them and extract real value from them. All in all a highly recommended second generation home security device.

Perfect for a peace of mind. I've had my canary for about two weeks. It's a really cool device. I travel a lot so the Canary gives me the peace of mind when I'm away from home. The set up was easy and straightforward. The app works well even over 3G/LTE. And the design fits well with a modern apartment. Well done.

I love my Canary! Not only is it hilarious to finally watch my cat's shenanigans while I'm not at home, but I love being able to check out my apartment remotely when the building manager or utility person stops by while my husband and I are at work. I feel much more in control of my home's security. We live in SF with no central HVAC so it's also awesome to now track the temperature in our apartment. The product is small and sleek and I love how easily it connects to my iPhone. I'll admit I had a bit of a glitch setting the product up but realized it's because I just got the new iPhone 6s and there was some issue connecting. We used my husband's iPhone 5s instead and the setup worked just fine. I'm also a geek about design details so I especially loved the simplicity and design of the packaging and overall setup.

Well packaged, easy to remove from packaging, initial setup of equipment was easy enough but getting application on phone to work was a struggle. Initial login to the app appeared easy enough but then could not get back into software. Had to reset password from website just to get in. Also had the same issue setting up my wife as a user. After 30 minutes of time trying to get back into phone app I was almost ready to package it all up and send it back. Once I got back into app all the rest of the setup went well and was easy enough to use. Pleased with picture quality. Alerts seem to be an issue for some, but it is easy enough to set notification levels as well as limit alert areas. I really like that with proximity sensing (or geofencing) Canary can stop recording when you are home without having to go into app to make the change. Other than initial app login issues I would have given this product a 5 star rating.

Setup was quick. Took about 10 minutes. Plug it in, enter name and phone number, and connect to WiFi. The video and audio quality are very good. The wide angle lens captures a huge area (my living room, front door, and dining room). Highly recommended.
