    I purchased my Canary earlier this year. The camera is great and I love the siren and two-way talk features. This is a great product. Highly recommend!

    Used to be great, do not buy

    Purchased three of these cameras and told countless others of their merits. Have used these for over a year. While the camera themselves are still really good quality, they have changed the terms of service (as of Oct. 2, 2017) to remove all of the free features I, and many others, purchased this camera for. Do not buy this camera unless you want to pay for access to your videos and other basic features which used to be included. I am extremely disappointed with the company and regret purchasing these cameras.

I do want to clarify that Canary users who don't opt in to Membership still have a core feature set that includes: notifications when motion is detected (as well as customizable HomeHealth notifications for temperature, humidity, and air quality deviations), the ability to Watch Live anytime (day or night), recorded video clips that are stored for 24 hours, and more.     Don't buy this camera. I bought 2 cameras and have had nothing but problems. It continues to say I am not at home (and sends me a text every time I walk past the camera) when I am at home. I then have to disarm the camera (defeats the purpose of having a camera) and it still doesn't work. Texts all day long. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Did the updates. Still no fix. Also signed up for the 7 day plan and never got switched over. Called Canary and the rep said they are still having problems with multiple customers with these issues. She wouldn't help me with the 7 day plan. DON'T BUY THIS. BUY A NEST INSTEAD! I have 3 Nest cameras and have had NO PROBLEMS.

    This camera has changed so much over the 5 years. Or should I’d at the company. The camera itself is made out of a nicely built metal. The outside shearing is metal with a. Plastic top and bottom. The camera has a plug in for Ethernet and a micro usb charger. It has a sensor on the top (if I recall) that allows you to control the unit. The camera can do two way talk, sirens, and the app lets you call emergency through the app. But they changed up subscriptions a lot and now I can’t even use the two way without subscribing to their plan. It’s crap. So I barely even connect the camera now. Not to mention, the camera will occasionally( more often than I want it to) disconnect and reconnect hours late on its own. And it almost never warns me through notification that it disconnected for hours.

    Canary Take backs on Service

    When this product came out one of the main selling points (that's also printed on their box) was "No Contracts No Fees". Well, they have certainly switched positions on that. Now your Canary is basically a paperweight unless you buy into the membership and it goes up with how many you have. I was a fan of this device for the quality of the hardware and service but not anymore. Any company who tears away services after the fact is none that I will support. Time to look elsewhere.

    Avoid this company at all costs! Used to be an avid Canary supporter but now their product is terrible. All features including support are hidden behind a subscription service. Even after you pay a monthly fee you get a mediocre product which used to be included with the purchase. They're are much better products on the market that offer a lot more for your money. Lastly they canceled their phone support completely so the only form of communication is by email or live chat.

    I have the canary for a couple of weeks so far it does what it says it will do. the only problem is that I get alerts when the sun comes through the windows

    Do not buy unless you want to be required to pay for a subscription to record video. You are only allowed to record the first 10 seconds of motion at any given time. I’ve had my canary for almost 2 years and I liked it until now. They changed the free tier plan and added so many restrictions it’s unusable.

Over the past 2 years I’m sure you’ve noticed that we’ve continually developed and added features and improvements that were not advertised when you bought the device and have since delivered even more value to the product—HomeHealth notifications (for temp, humidity, and air quality deviations), activity zone masking, geo-fencing improvements, digital panning and zooming, faster Watch Live, and more—all of these are still included in the free tier plan. Our free tier also still includes the core set of security features: notifications when motion is detected, the ability to Watch Live anytime (day or night—with automatic night vision), recorded video clips while the device is armed that are stored for 24 hours, remote siren activation, one-touch access to police/fire/EMS, automatic arming/disarming, and more. Many of these features are not offered in the free plans of other devices on the market. While the video clips on our free plan are now shorter, many other similar products do not offer free video recording at all.     Too many features unavailable unless you're willing to pay their membership fees monthly. The Canary also randomly changes setting and disables some settings from being changed. Currently my Canary won't record events when I'm away but decided to record every dust particle or shadow movement when I'm at home. Poor customer service and frequent Canary server problems means it's not reliably going to record when you think it should. A few weeks ago I kept getting daily messages that the air quality was bad, but no indication of what that meant. Never fully understood what triggered that message. Camera not as clear as some make it out to be. Overall disappointed with this purchase and wish I had spent slightly more money up front for quality features that don't require membership fees.

    just purchased my second canary last week. moved to a new house. new cell phone number. both canaries are useless. indicates owned by another account. it is not. it is not a typo. took them 4 days to reply. tried contacting via chat, text, email, facebook messenger, twitter, instagram, as indicated. never heard back from them on any platforms but an email 4 days later. my canaries are useless and I will be returning the new one tonight.

    I came back to the canary after trying out Blink. The canary offers a lot more. My only gripe is the app for android still has room for improvement. Overall this is a fantastic home camera and can't wait to see how the team updates it software wise!

    Don’t waste your money on this product. Bought one of these last year and now they have completely stripped all the free features from it in an attempt to make you pay their monthly subscription fee. Essentially it’s an over priced paper weight now. So disappointed in this company

    Canary has a decent product here. I am giving this one star because they lock down features and only let you use them if you buy a membership. There are other cameras out there that will function as well or better without making you pay extra. Two way communication should not require a membership.

    Painful set up but great product

    Setting up was a nightmare. Firmware update just hangs for hours. After contacting their support center, I was told to connect the unit via network cable which I don't have. Who has network cable these days? If network cable is essential for smooth set up, one should have been included w the unit. After agonizing 4 hr set up process, it was ready and I'm actually quite happy w the product. I like the hardware as much as its features. I like how you can initiate alarm remotely and contact local police. Zero star for set up, 4 for the hardware and its features.

    Device can not be reset to factory

    Only has email support. Device can not be reset to factory. If you make a mistake in the set up you can't just reset and start again. You have to open a ticket and have them fix it for you via email. A rather lengthy and complicated process for a $250.00 item. If you want to return the item which I did, they state that the item will not be sold by the store to a second customer. The device will be sent back to factory and reset. Chancy I'd say.

    sneaky, don't BUY !!

    after a few years of being happy with my canary i bought 3 more and 2 as gifts. Canary decided to change the plan and they only record 30 seconds now so its pretty useless if you don't pay hundreds a year for membership. STAY AWAY! check amazon reviews first if you don't believe me.

    This product is great for monitoring an apartment or high traffic area. Automatic alerts for movement sent directly and promptly to my phone. The auto arming feature based on my phone's location works well and keeps me safe without having to remember to arm the system. The Canary gives me the piece of mind I desired for my apartment when I am away at work all day or on a trip.

    We purchased this originally as a "nanny cam". We have it set up in the living room with view of the main doors, Most recently we hired anew baby sitter (teenager). I got an alert on my phone at work, looked and saw that the babysitter went into our bedroom and was looking through my dresser drawers. When I got home, I attempted the same thing to make sure. The picture with the 2 images is her in the left, me on the right.
