Love my camera lens. The pictures are vibrant. This lens is not the most current lens from Canon but it works well.

I had to jump off the lens cliff. I just needed to experiment and grow with my camera. There is absolute truth in the quality of your photos as you jump up to a Cannon L lens, this one has catapulted my photography to the next level. I am thoroughly enjoying this lens. TRY IT :)

Canon - EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Standard Zoom Lens

This lens is miles above the 28-135 IS, it's built much better feels better in your hands, and the controls are a delight to work with. You're getting every penny you pay for this in quality and technology with this lens and rest assured it WILL perform. Of course we all could wish it was cheaper, but professional camera gear is just this way... when I go out to do landscape and wildlife photography my jeep triples in value as soon as I put the camera bag in the back. The Image Stabilization system in this camera is great, leave it on always, it's sensitive enough to help even absorb the flicker of the mirror in your camera. You don't have to switch it off when you mount it on a tripod. While it will not save every shot and blur is always a possibility when you go below 1 60th of a second with any lens but I have had great luck using this to hand hold images down to as little as 1/4 of a second some of them turn out some of them don't but the fact that ANY of them turn out is impressive to me and proof the technology works. You need to know HOW to use the IS; however, it's important that you allow the internal gyros time to spin up before you take the shot this takes about a half a second. Learning to see the photo before it happens and anticipating the shot is all part of this process, allowing the lens a half second to spin up to speed will enable you to utilize the full potential of IS The circular aperture of this camera works well and allows you to get the depth of field you want without the annoying jagged edges in out of focus items that lenses with standard aperture blades will give you. Bokeh is a little weak, but we are only at f4, so that is expected. Speaking of F4 it lets in a fair amount of light, I have not noticed any Vignetting at any focal length, but shooting on a 1.6 sensor crops out the edges... Compared side by side with the 28-135 on a Rebel XTi the shots taken with this lens are easily recognizable as more contrasty and sharper. (the 28-135 IS STILL a great lens, however) As with any lens, this one has its characteristics that you will need to get use to. Flare is very minimal in all but the most extreme lighting situations. However when you do encounter flare (usually only happens when your TRYING to get the lens to flare out on you) you usually get a sharp jagged object with a halo around it, If you're trying to create a purposeful flare effect that looks good this is not the lens to use. If you just bought the Rebel XTi, this is the kind of lens you are going to need to utilize all ten million pixels on the camera. So if you buy this lens, congratulations you have just reached the top of technology and optical performance. If treated right this lens will provide you with a lifetime of images of uncompromising quality.

If you need a lens that can do it ALL, look no further. I got mine as a kit but I use it for most of my pictures. Pictures at home, outdoors, events, birthdays, beach, playgrounds and anything short distance is all covered. Perfect lens for travel photography. 24mm gives you an AMAZING wide angle allowing you to take family portraits in a small room with low lighting and no flash using ISO 1600 and the lens wide open. Pictures are SHARP and the colors are very vibrant. This lens hardly comes off my camera unless I am shooting distant wildlife or shooting macro. If this lens comes in f2.8 in the future, I'll go for it. Buy it before the price of this lens goes up again.

This easy-to-use standard zoom lens can cover a large zoom area ranging from 24mm wide-angle to 105mm portrait-length telephoto, and its Image Stabilizer Technology steadies camera shake up to three stops. Constructed with one Super-UD glass element and three aspherical lenses, this lens minimizes chromatic aberration and distortion. The result is excellent picture quality, even at wide apertures. Canon's ring-type USM gives silent but quick AF, along with full-time manual focus. Moreover, with dust- and moisture-resistant construction, this is a durable yet sophisticated lens that meets the demands of advanced amateur photographers and professional photographers alike. The micro feature on this lens is over looked but a stand out in it self the image quality and the ability is out standing

The lens is a wonderful general purpose lens covering a nice distance range from wide angle to close up. There is nice depth of field and clean, sharp photos with good detail. I spent a long time deciding about this lens since I am an amateur photographer and the pro lens was a bit pricey. But I am super happy I decided to purchase it as it is incredibly versatile. If you can only buy one lens this would be a good choice, it will get you through a variety of photo opportunities successful ly.

The Canon - EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens is a perfect short range zoom lens in the Canon L-series and is well deserving to be there. It has super sharp focus and a great depth of field range for any type of photography. I have found no negatives in the use of this lens!

Great Lens for Groups and Portraits

After getting this L lens, I see why pros use them. I used this lens on a 7D for shooting an extended family, then individual families, portraits and groups of 2-5 in-between. I did not have to change the lens and all I had to worry about was positioning my lights. The focal length is ideal for rapid composition. Also f/4 is actually better to shoot at and not anything with less depth of field. I have an f/1.2 that actually gave me focus problems with groups - the front person will be out of focus but the person right behind would already be out of focus. The f/4 gives me enough depth of field separation from the backgrounds but everyone in the group in focus. All of my shots were well composed, sharp, beautiful color. Best of all the family was ecstatic with the results!

This is an overall good lens, especially for the price. I compared it to my 70-200 2.8L and the sharpness and response is not quite there. But an L lens with the focal range it offers for under $1,000 its hard to complain. All in all I am pleased. If I had the money I would get the better/newer 24-70 2.8L, but I don't

I've used this lens for newborn photography, events, portraits. It's very versatile. The images are sharp. I use it with a Canon 6D. The lens is cheaper than the f/2.8, but it's worth it. It does the job.

I was looking for my next lens to supplement my 70-200 f2.8 IS II and this lens was the next logical step. I did not buy the non IS f2.8 version in this lens because I do some action photography and needed some image stabilisation. Not to mention it was cheaper. This lens performs as you would expect from an L Series lens. Super clear, sharp images with fast auto focus. The build on this lens is stout to say the least. If you do not own this lens, are a serious photographer, and do not have an equivalent L Series, go get it!

I found this lens to work very well on my canon 7D.Very fast to focus and sharp as well. The range is good with the 1.6x for long shots. You do lose the short side (24mm)=38.4mm. Shipping was fast and the price was very good.I do recommend this lens.
