Needed a wider angle lens for landscape shots, this has fit the bill. As usual Canon has provided a quality lens.

Not a big fan of this lens. I would have went for a 24-70 if I had to choose again.

Miles of text have already been written about this lens, so I'll just say that it is my first "L" series lens, and is everything I hoped it would be. Before this lens, I'd also been using two very high quality non-L Canon's; the 100mm f/2.8 macro, and the EFS10-22 super-wide. (Plus the trusty EFS17-85IS.) I use a Canon 7D body. The 100 and 10-22 were the most expensive lenses in my bag before now, and consistently delivered the best results of any of my lenses, regarding color and sharpness; particularly the 100. (I'd read that both the 100 and the 10-22 were as near to "L quality" as you could get, without buying an L---so I wasn't really expecting the L lens to blow me away, as if I were migrating from a cheap kit lens straight to an L; more like, I hoped it would provide a subtle, but still noticeable improvement.) The image quality is terrific, top-notch, and the f/4 throughout the zoom range is so much more useful and enjoyable than I'd anticipated, for rendering blur. Another pleasant discovery was how close I could get to a subject, whether I'm at 24mm or 105, and still focus... I've turned out some wonderful close-ups shot at 105 this way, standing inches from the subject. The included lens hood is a nice feature, given the price; wish more Canon lenses came with their hoods. When it is stowed backwards on the lens, it partially blocks the manual focus ring, which took some getting used to, in order to be able to find the ring without looking. The Image Stabilization is quiet - often so quiet, I had to check a few times that I'd not turned it off by accident. The lens is my heaviest yet, but by no means uncomfortable. I have no regrets with this lens, and can easily see it being my most-used lens, within a short while.

Best "Walk around lens" on the Market

I originally rented one of these lenses for a vacation to the caribbean and man was I impressed. At the time I owned the 18-55 IS, 50mm f/1.4, and 70-300mm. This lens blows them all out of the water. the image clairity and color reproduction was professional class even on my Rebel XTi. If you are looking for a great all purpose zoom lens with a fantastic IS this is it. I have taken a few pictures with my newly acquired (purchased) lens and post them on my computer at work. I am frequently asked where I found the pictures, and when I tell people that I took them, they are always suprised. Well worth the money!!!!!

I really had a hard time making the decision to by the lense as opposed to upgrading my camera body. I kept thinking, how much better could it be than than what I'm using now. First time I took the lense out, I swear that what I was seeing on lcd was noticably sharper, more deeply saturaed, just better than I was used to seeing. I'm not sure if it was just me, but every time I looked at the previews, I kept thinking, wow. When, I finally am able to afford another camera body, I'll be set with a great lense to mount to it.

This lens gives us a very nice general purpose focal range to work with. Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens is one of the best and most popular Canon general purpose lenses made. The 24-105 L Lens quickly became one of my favorite and most-used lenses. If I had only one lens, this would be the one especially for travelling, with a toddler you want to carry as less as possible and this lens fits the bill.

As I have stated before - I am not a pro nor do I have intentions of becoming a pro - I bought this lens because I didn't want to spend twice as much as the 24 - 70 mk II. The lens is sharp, focuses very quickly and accurately and has fantastic build quality. Picture are beautifully crisp and they look professional in quality (I won't speak of my composition and insult the pro's). It's not the heavy and guess what it's an "L" lens - no more needs to be said.

First off, this lens is amazing! I rented one to make sure I was purchasing something that I would enjoy on my camera, and I am extremely glad to have made this purchase. The lens is definitely a L-class from Canon. I picked this lens over the 24-70 for the extra reach as well as the I/S. I felt both of those outweighed the extra F-Stop. Now I have to go out and re-take some of my photos that I shot with my old kit lens!

Would be 5 Stars if it were a F/2.8

Love this 24mm-105mm L Series lens, a deffinit must have in your arsenal Im a enthusiat photographer. I think this lense would be top noth if it were a F/2.8 instead of F/4 as it deffintily lacks in low light as reviewed many times before. Other than that this lens is great, build quility if robust, pics looks tac sharp and in focus. Colors in pics pop, now that I have my first L lens, Im saving to upgrade from a T3i to a 7D, don't hesitate to pick-up this lens, just wish Canon would release a F/2.8 version....

The lens really takes sharp pictures and it produces good contrast pictures. I would recommend this as a great walk around lens to replace the kit lenses. The image difference between this L lens and the kit lens is huge.

If you can live at f4 or higher this is a great lens. I rarely shoot at less than f4 so the added focal length and IS for less money than a 24-70L makes sense to me. You won't regret buying this lens.

Bought the lens to work in conjunction with our Canon 60D for both Photo and Video use. We like the wide range of the lens along with the Image Stabilization when we use it for video.

Excellent walk around lens. Image quality is sharp. Lower f-stop would have been nice, but overall this is a great lens (especially for the price of an L zoom)

If your looking for a very universal lens for photography then this is a great option. The huge variable zoom on this lens offers a lot of options while remaining an f4 all throughout. The focal distance through all lengths is very impressive as well. All around an excellent option.
