The quality of the lens is superb. I have purchased more high-end lenses in the past and cannot tell the difference between the pictures taken with this lens versus the more expensive one.

Replacing the original lens that came with my Canon Rebel. Not necessarily a specialty lens, more for general occasions. Does not have large aperture capability, and will this result in having to use slower shutter speeds (blurred images), but if you have great lighting and a steady hand (or tripod) then there is no need to worry about that. Great for everyday use.
