Do NOT buy these printers

Within a month this one did the same thing despite being in a completely protected area. I am very unhappy!

Difficult setup

I tried to register the product to my account. I could not get into my canon account or create a new one. Setup was confusing but I hope the machine works

Owned for 10 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this printer now for about 10 months, and it has worked well in every way I have used it, for both Photos and standard color printing. I print pretty much everything on it, as do my 2 kids, and we have used less than 20% of the ink that came with the printer. The fact that I still have 2 more bottles of black ink (which came with the printer), suggests that the printer may die before I run out of ink. What a nice change of pace. Networking was was, as I have it wired, not WiFi. The Windows 10 machines picked it up without a problem and am able to print from any device. The Scanner has worked well too. Best printer purchase I have ever made.

Mega-Tank is the Way to Go

The copy quality it affords is excellent, although we've not yet used it as a color printer, we expect it will work well.

The ink cartridge technology has improved, basically to thwart attempts to be able to use "generic" ink cartridges which are SO MUCH CHEAPER than Canon ink. As for the printer, yes it can print twice the number of pages per minute than my old printer but I am not printing Phd thesis every day. The printer goes to sleep and does not wake up when you submit a job to it. Apple Air print is as reliable or unreliable as my old printer. I can't wait for Apple to make a printer because any "pioneering" in said area will only come from that company whilst Canon, HP, etc. will only invest in ink technology to make more money off the user.

Others have lamented the network setup gave them fits. Used the disk to upload the software and within 15 minutes I was ready. Yes the display requires one to have a light handy to read the display but that is a small detail. The first picture I printed had a lot of lines from the print heads.

WiFi Connection Problem

However, the setup for the wireless connection with my laptop has been time consuming and frustrating. After installing, removing and re-installing the software through the Canon website, it still drops the wifi connection when I log off and requires repeating the entire setup process when I sign back on. I am sure there is a simple fix via the device settings or whatever, but I have not yet found it.
