Good Printer, But There's a Catch

Overall, I really like this Canon printer. Right out of the box, you can tell it's well made. I felt well guided through the setup process when I followed the setup link and watched the setup video on Canon's website. However, even with the setup video, it took me about 30 minutes to set this this up from opening the box to printing page one. There is a ton of plastic protectors to remove, a Canon utility to download, ink cartridges to insert, and an alignment that needs to run. Once functional, this thing is like most modern home-office printers. It connects to your devices wirelessly, it prints, and it scans. But there are a couple things that make this unique and a little bit nicer experience, especially for photo printing. There is an SD card slot on the front of this printer that allows you to print photos straight from your camera without going to your computer first. Love that feature. The additional ink cartridges/ colors create really nice photo prints, especially on photo paper. The touch screen makes it easy to select what you want the printer to do, change settings, etc. I also really like the fact that this printer can do two-sided printing all on its own. It is a bit slow, but it's far easier than taking each sheet and flipping it manually. I'm down for easier ways to save on paper! But, what's the catch? The additional ink cartridges are a huge plus for range of colors this thing can print, but that comes with a hefty ink bill. There are six ink cartridges in this printer and if you buy them directly from Canon, you're talking $10.99 per regular cartridge, and $15.99 per large blank cartridge. For me, I don't print enough for ink costs to be a constant and pressing concern, but if you do, be mindful you're going to spend a bit for those really nice prints.

I spent days researching an affordable printer with high quality and plenty of printer options. This printer has been so good to me since the day I got it. Easy to use and I use it religiously to print my stickers. Only thing is in order to use photo or sticker paper i have to use the rear tray which is fine but I can only set that setting with my laptop. My iPad only sends it to the cassette tray so I have to save and send my whatever i wanted printed on nice paper to my laptop. The ink it comes with is a lot. And I went through almost 50 pages of high quality sticker images until i finally ran out of ink. Set up was clear and easy and I enjoy this product.

Setup instructions were easy to follow. This all-in-one was about a 1/3rd the size of the old HP. Printing directly from a smart phone is very easy. The only complaint is the plastic parts keep getting thinner and therefore more flimsy so you need to be gentle with opening the paper trays. Photo printing was very fast compared to the 5 yr old HP this replaced.

Definitely like the quality of glossy photo prints i have made so far... easy access to and use of pull up digital control screen. Wireless only. Was used to being able to plug into ethernet with other canon pixma printers, but so far no issues. Easy to set up. Lid for scanner is kinda of flimsy. Disconnects from body easily. Can feed paper from front or rear, but seems 4x6 photo paper only prints from rear.

As my old printer needed a new ink waste absorber, I was told that this part was not available due to the age of the printer. I purchased this Canon Pixma and am very happy. I didn't need anything fancy and this does the job very well. It was easy to set up as the instructions were very clear. It is for home use and basic functions. The price was right and the curb side pick up was fantastic.

Super legible, fast printing in black ink only. Beautiful color and clarity when printing photos. Easy set up, for the most part. I just needed some advice from Canon customer service to set up printer for use with a Chromebook. Only minor complaint is that it is a bit bulky. I could not be happier with my purchase.

Quality printing from a printer that has a very small footprint (the smallest I could find) and also a low profile. It fit easily into the cabinet space that I had for it. Setup was very easy and everything worked the first time. Can even print from my iphone. Color seems to run true.

I purchased this printer to replace my older one which had a problem. This one prints faster and uses less ink which I am happy about. The setup was super easy and I would recommend this printer to anyone who is looking for professional results from a great machine..

Works well so far. I did print a few pics and thought the blues would be deeper and more vibrant with the extra blue ink cartridge. Pics are good but I felt my epson printed better quality pics. I'm sure if I purchased a more expensive model the picture quality would be great. Set up wasn't working so I went directly to canons website and it was very easy setting up through their website. I would give 5 stars but I think my expectations were so high that I was a bit let down after printing pics. I feel the plastic parts on this printer are cheaply made as well.
